Jameis: “I Love Playing Against Him Because He’s A Savage”
June 20th, 2017It’s rare to hear America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, heap praise upon a specific defensive player not wearing pewter and red.
Jameis has a lot more public love for offensive players, but he opened up a bit last week on a division-rival defender.
Chatting with Shaquille O’Neal (yes, that Shaq) on Podcast One, Jameis was asked what defensive player drilled him and got in his head last year.
Jameis paused and then delivered a specific answer to one of the greatest basketball players in history.
“I ain’t get that many good licks on me last year,” Jameis said. “But, let me see, Thomas Davis put a could hit on me last year for the Carolina Panthers. He mean out there. I love playing against him because he’s a savage.”
Joe is almost surprised Jameis named a player and didn’t say something like he doesn’t get hit because he has the best offensive line in football. (Jameis has given that type of answer when asked about injuries or hits.)
But Joe loves the answers. You gotta love Jameis. He craves to face the angry men who want to rip his head off. Jameis epitomizes (to the outside world) Dirk Koetter’s famous mantra: “Speak softly and carry a big mother f*&%’n stick.”
Did you miss what Jameis told Shaq about the swagger impact of DeSean Jackson? That old story is right here.

He will be the top QB in the league sooner than people expect
June 20th, 2017 at 11:57 am
A lot sooner, and I’m keeping track of all those who speak negatively about his game. Don’t switch up,keep that those same opinions come the middle of next season I’ll respect you as man that way.

Nole, I still say that Jameis is the 4th best QB in the NFC South, with the 4th best O-Line in the NFC South. And this isn’t negative, this is fact, and I never go back on what I say. If i’m wrong, then i’m wrong, but I seriously doubt that i’m wrong. Things will change one day, but this year isn’t that day.

Watched very win a championship the night my son was born.. knew that guy was gunna be great right the then lol

as far as accomplishments he’s 4th….but if you go by upside, then he’s second….if cam had jameis’ heart and leadership he would be the best in the league….drew and matty ice have maxed out IMO….cam will never be who everyone wants him to be….jameis will only get better and surpass all 3 in a year or 2 if not this year….GO BUCS!!!!

Cam can’t read coverages like Jameis, nor does he have close to the football acumen that Jameis possesses. Cam is simply built like a truck, the speed of a corvette, with a Patriot missile arm.
You put Jameis heart and mind into Cam’s body, you would see the greatest QB of all time.

It’s always interesting to see what triggers “Your comment is awaiting moderation”. My guess is the “P” word.

@Lakeland – I think O-line is pretty debatable… Falcons line is the best but after that it’s a little shaky.
New Orleans has lost Max Unger already and Terron Armstead – or 2 of their best lineman. They were a solid line in 2016 even with Armstead missing some time; but I think Unger will hurt. Probably will be much better than our line but you never know how those injuries could effect them.
Carolina’s line wasn’t much better than ours last year and is older with less promising young talent. Kalil at LT is a big gamble. Dude missed 14 games last year and wasn’t even playing that great before then. They are banking on his potential from years ago
Also – Winston outplayed Cam Newton last year in pretty much every category and already looks like a better QB. The only thing Newton has on him are rushing stats; and even then Winston has a lot of rushing TDs and will likely make up for it moreso with his ability to be a pocket QB – something Newton still struggles at. Winston hasn’t even hit his potential and looks better imo.
For Newton’s 6 year career; he’s averaged 58% completion, 3745 yards, 23 TDs, 13 ints per year
Winston in just 2 years of play has averaged 60% completion, 4066 yards, 25 TDs, 16 ints per year

He will get better every year. It will be fun to watch.

no one ever called the leader of the losing culture cancer93 savage. new bucs give us hope. hold overs give us reason to fear
June 20th, 2017 at 1:16 pm
Man if Jameis can just rid himself of the occasional dumb decision we are gonna to be something special. I love when people say his accuracy is why he throws picks cause that is ridiculous, as we have no idea who’s at fault but throwing into double teams can be easily fixed and I 100% believe Jameis will get it done.

This is the year for Jameis and the Bucs. From the night he was drafted I said it will be 3 years for him to challenge for MVP and the championship. With the weapons he has now and the swagger he has pushed onto the rest of the team, it’s going to happen. I have never seen a leader who wants to win so much and have players believing in each other like Jameis has. I went to the practice last week and he was competing and leading the 2 minute drill like a championship game and sprinting from drill to drill. If we start 3-0 it’s going to be a great season.
June 20th, 2017 at 1:27 pm
Everybody’s fair game when it comes to criticism until this team wins a Super Bowl. Jameis right now is a good QB who has the potential to be great. He’s a 3rd year guy that can improve his game. There’s nothing wrong with that.

How bout another picture of jameis other than this..Mohammed Ali looking pose? You run this quite a few times featuring Jameis. As photogenic as he is, I’m quite sure you got other snapshots. Course as you probably would retort, Its my GD website and I’ll run what I want to. However…….People wonder..Just sayin.

Lakeland,
Don’t get the wrong idea because I challenge your posts. I respect your posts I just disagree with some of them.
And this isn’t negative, this is fact
I get your point that it’s just a football opinion and not personal to any Bucs but it’s not exactly correct either.
Now if you had posted that the Bucs had the worst OL last year…maybe? NO certainly played poorly on OL…and Carolina almost got Cams career ended.
The Falcons improved dramatically.
But that’s last year. Where I disagree with you is the 2017 OL. None of us can say how they’ll play factually…until they actually play…factually. I think you sell them short however…if Sweezy if really healthy the Bucs internal three will be mean maulers with enough talent. Donavan Smith will continue to improve and become a top ten T….RT is still open unless Benenoch is ready…but we can sign a cap casualty at the end of camp if we don’t solve RT internally. We have good depth.
Bottom line Lakeland is I simply disagree with your take on THIS YEAR’s OL.
I think they show a lot of promise. But of course…you could be correct. Only a few more months until we find out.

If 3 can ever get settled in early with his Accuracey look out
