“Disease” Finally Infects Bucs; Be Bold For Boldin
June 17th, 2017The hype train is moving along with a full head of steam and right into One Buc Place.
This week’s minicamp brought so much promise, so much optimism that it is truly upsetting there are still nearly two months until the Bucs take on the Bengals in preseason.
America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, has shown what you expect from any great young quarterback in the league entering his third season: leading and commanding an offense with precision. And all media accounts from the practice fields point to that direction.
Leading the team out of the locker room, staying after practice, mad that practice ends early, and so on. That’s Jameis. This team is winning now and they will win in 2017 — because Winston and his teammates have finally caught the disease he carries known as a winning attitude.
Yes, its minicamp. But quite honestly, who the hell cares? There has not been this much excitement coming out of this team in years and so many people everywhere are starting to buy-in.
That’s right. Everywhere. Just Google “Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”
Be Bold for Boldin
General manager Jason Licht should keep bringing in those weapons for Winston and his next target should be veteran receiver Anquan Boldin. The signs are already there.
Joe noted yesterday, via the Detroit Free Press, that Boldin wants to be in Florida. Of course, this can be any of the three Florida teams, but why not Tampa Bay if an offer is made? You know, the Florida team with the most promise.
Signing Boldin may crowd the wide receiver position, but head coach Dirk Koetter knows how to utilize the talent. And whether Boldin is the third, fourth, or fifth receiver on the depth chart, he’ll make an impact.
Hypothetically, that is.
This is in no respect to the others fighting for a spot. Winston makes everyone around him better and really doesn’t mind throwing the ball to anyone (ask Donteea Dye). So missing out on Boldin may not be so bad.
However, add Boldin’s name to a list that already contains Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson, and the hype train will need a longer track than what the Trans-Siberian Express currently rides on.

Would be a fantastic move to get a tough vet like Boldin
June 17th, 2017 at 9:26 am
Dumb idea.
June 17th, 2017 at 9:29 am
I think some forget that the back end of the WR need to be filling in/contributing on special teams!!!!!! Asking a vet WR that turns 37 in 3 months to play special teams is not were this team is at!!!!!! Some of the free agents that you have suggest seems to be that you should step out of the cave and get some fresh air!!!!!!!
GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovie spent time in a cave as well and didnt catch up with the times, thinkin cave life isnt all that it seems, Boldin was a great possession WR but there is no spot for him in tampa, Miami could use him

What are you smoking!!?? Boldin.. my f@rts travel faster then he runs. That’s one of the dumbest suggestions and the fact that someone actually thought it was a good idea boggles my mind.

Riley Cooper 2.0
June 17th, 2017 at 10:58 am
Boldin? You kiddin me? Theres a reason he’s still on the market guys. And its called..You are done! Boldin had his playing career. Its his time for the rockin chair. I can’t you would want to go after this guy. What we’d better be doing is watching the waiver wires for O lineman and another DE.

Hmmm….a 37 year old wide receiver on the roster. Reminiscence of a Gruden roster during his last few years coaching in Tampa. Not a fan of this idea.
June 17th, 2017 at 11:00 am
No need for Boldin. Spots 1-4 are set at WR and there are about 7-8 talented young players vying for either 1 or 2 remaining WR roster spots. Better to pick the best of the young players for the back end of the depth chart than sign a 36 year old receiver to a 1 year deal and hope that father time doesn’t catch up to him this year which is likely what would happen.
June 17th, 2017 at 11:02 am
May I suggest Ray Rice and Roddy White too…
June 17th, 2017 at 11:02 am
No need is right.
June 17th, 2017 at 11:15 am
Kenny Stills at 25 is Miami oldest WR, Anquan Boldin could get a shot at the 4th spot behind Stills, Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker. The Dolphins could use his leadership and his experience. Jakeem Grant and Leonte Carroo should battle the rookies Damore’ea Stringfellow, Francis Owusu, Isaiah Ford for the final 2 spots. Miami should be the best fit for him, the young guys could learn from him.
June 17th, 2017 at 11:17 am
I’ll pass on Boldin. He ain’t gonna be happy being a 4th or 5th reciever covering kicks I’d give him a call in September if someone went down.

GA. Buc fan 40 years
Not even Riley Coopers mother would use his name in the same sentence as the great mr. boldin. One is a nobody that accomplished nothing and the other is an all time great. i knew gaytor fans were not very intelligent but riley cooper mentioned in a article about boldin is pretty pathetic.
June 17th, 2017 at 11:57 am
If we wanted a old WR, we could have just kept VJAX. He at least knew the playbook already.
June 17th, 2017 at 12:13 pm
People call the Falcons crazy for signing DE Dwight Freeney last season. But he came in and took Vic Beasley under his wings and taught him some pass rush moves. Vic Beasley sacks increased from 4 to 15.5, and he credited Freeney for it.
June 17th, 2017 at 12:47 pm
Lakeland is right, we should sign freeney
June 17th, 2017 at 1:41 pm
save the $, for some other position, rather see a chris godwin debut
June 17th, 2017 at 3:08 pm
Barring injury, signing Bolden is a bad idea. Gil needs to stay in the cave and think a little longer before he writes articles.
June 17th, 2017 at 4:01 pm
Better Veteran choices for WR-5? How ’bout Vincent Jackson? Could be available cheap! Seriously, you have to give youth a chance and whoever the Bucs brain trust selects will be a good choice. In my opinion!
Why do these trolls think an old receiver would be better for the number 5 spot than a young one with an upside? Besides, why would Bolden even consider being any ones number 5?
June 17th, 2017 at 4:18 pm
I would rather have young guys the girl with the team at this point. They have Evans Humphries and Jackson as vets now
June 17th, 2017 at 4:53 pm
Anyone who thinks its a bad idea is playing too much fantasy football. Depth, depth depth. A GMs job. Gota have it to win in this league. If we had more depth last year it was playoff time. Do it do it. Go bucs
June 17th, 2017 at 5:00 pm
I wonder if Marvin Harrison likes Florida too lol
June 17th, 2017 at 5:01 pm
You Vincent Jackson fan boys are funny
June 17th, 2017 at 10:55 pm
Chris Godwin will be better than an old Boldin.
June 18th, 2017 at 7:22 am
No.
This is a move a bad team would make.
Filler signing that delays chemistry and development of a guy like Godwin.
