Perfecto!
June 13th, 2017The epic kicking battle at One Buc Palace roared on today, this time before media and a couple hundred fans on Day 1 of mandatory minicamp.
Roberto Aguayo, well, he appeared to follow Dirk Koetter’s orders: to speak softly and kick with a big MF stick.
Aguayo was perfect in five tries, ranging from what appeared to be 42 to 54 yards on the real goal posts, versus the skinny posts often used in practice. On the 54-yarder, there was room to spare.
Challenger (clubhouse leader?) Nick Folk went before Aguayo and finished what appeared to be the same five-kick circuit 4-for-5. Folk’s lone try from about 55 yards hit the right post just above the crossbar.
Aguayo is not wilting, which is good news for the Bucs’ kicking competition.

Keep working young man. Keep working.
June 13th, 2017 at 3:13 pm
Roberto has a very good chance of winning the competition
June 13th, 2017 at 3:14 pm
I’m rooting for you. Straighten up those mechanics!
June 13th, 2017 at 3:16 pm
HOPE HE NEVER MISSES AGAIN, I’ll still be watching with one eye open… Until there’s game consistency, I won’t relax. Good luck, I would like to see him succeed but may the BEST kicker win!!!
June 13th, 2017 at 3:19 pm
I sorry I dont trust him. I hate to be on edge when a FG or EP is being attempted
June 13th, 2017 at 3:26 pm
good to hear, let’s hope it continues!
June 13th, 2017 at 3:31 pm
I hope they both make every single kick.
June 13th, 2017 at 3:31 pm
Shove it down their throats and make em eat it Roberto
June 13th, 2017 at 3:52 pm
I agree with c-spann. Can’t trust a guy on the first day of OTA’s, no real pressure there. Although I wish him the best.
June 13th, 2017 at 4:03 pm
I don’t trust him but this is good news. Keep fighting Roberto, I’m sick of losing 2nd rounders
June 13th, 2017 at 4:11 pm
keep working…..perfect practice makes perfect play!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!
June 13th, 2017 at 4:31 pm
good to hear… shows he has fight! go bucs!!
June 13th, 2017 at 4:35 pm
Great to hear.
I’m really pulling for the young man!
June 13th, 2017 at 4:44 pm
Hearing he hit a 54 yarder with room to spare is the literally the best kick I’ve heard of him making in any practice/game/etc since he’s been here unless I’m missing something lol
Thank freaking god man.

Cspan
I hear ya but I gotta confess…I don’t care who wins the kicking competition I”ll still be very nervous whenever we line up for a FG.
June 13th, 2017 at 5:51 pm
He’s not clutch…easy to make when there is no pressure. Pre-Season will be the real test.
June 13th, 2017 at 6:31 pm
Aguayo’s kicks looked A LOT stronger than Folks today! And it was cool to see the rest of the team trying to get in their heads while kicking, you can tell the whole team is interested in this battle!

Same here.
But I’m rooting for Roberto simply because if he can win the battle and do well, our kicker issues are resolver for the next 12-15 years.

I think the skinny posts are helping him improve his regular kicks. Practicing with tougher targets, I mean.

Trust HAS to be earned, but anyone NOT hoping that he succeeds is just short sighted. We need a reliable kicker, obviously, so I hope that he and Folk make the decision brutally difficult on the coaching staff because they both kick ass all of preseason. I hope Roberto earns it, but we have too much at stake now to settle on his “development”. I can take last year if it was his adjustment to being picked so highly, but this year is put up or shut up time. My bet is he PUTS up. GO BUCS!!

“On the 54-yarder, there was room to spare.”
Well that’s encouraging. As is 5 for 5 all from longish range
Roberto pulling from the Mark Twain quote book –
“The reports of my death were greatly exaggerated”

“The reports of my death were greatly exaggerated”😎 What people don’t realize Roberto had gotten complacent at FSU…he spoke of it that is why his game trailed off…what he needed was strong competition to let him hone in on his craft…
If he wins the competition…I have no doubt he will show he was worth that 2nd round pick!
🤗
Make em all eat crow Roberto.☠

Go Roberto Go !!!
June 13th, 2017 at 11:45 pm
Much to do about Nothing. Roberto is going to lose his job and start a fantastic career in fast food mngt. He simply cannot handle the NFl professional pressure. You heard it here..First.

This is a good sign. Aguayo has a much stronger leg than Folk. Look at their kick off stats. That Aguayo has a weak leg is nonsense. His misses from distance are due to crazy erratic mechanics. Hopefully, he’s worked on those. The key will be at 47 yards with a live rush and he is trying to get extra elevation on the ball. Or what will happen if he thinks he’s figured it out and starts to monkey around with all of his kick-off variations. The mortar kick thing is a “feel” type kick. I don’t want feel in a kicker. Be a robot. Make every kick look the same! Put that thing on the shelf take every kick off through the end zone and make 90% of your field goals.. Go back and look at the season. When he was simplified his kick-offs his field goals improved. Ex-NFL kicker pointed that out to me.
I’m hoping… but still doubtful.

I don’t care who wins, just as long as it the person that will be the best kicker for us. Though I think for Aguayo to win he will have to clearly have to outperform Folk who has a much more impressive pro resume.
