Bucs Fear Factor On Display In Atlanta

The drumbeat across the NFL keeps pounding the same message: The Buccaneers offense is loaded and can’t be stopped if it’s healthy
The most recent evidence comes from Atlanta, where Falcons defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel sees all the Bucs’ new weapons, aka the writing on the wall, so he told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
“Getting DeSean in Tampa is the first thing that you’ve got to think about,” Manuel said. “Adrian Peterson, how does he fit in their offense and go along with the weapons that they picked up in the draft? How does that change their offense? What is Sean (Payton) going to change here and there to now make that offense run. How is Jameis (Winston) going into his third year?”
Howard, who set career-highs in 2016 with 45 catches and three touchdowns as he earned second-team All-SEC honors with the Crimson Tide, could be a major factor for Tampa Bay.
“I think what (Tampa Bay coach) Dirk (Koetter) will try to do what he did when he was here with (Tony) Gonzalez,” Manuel said. “You understand that he’s getting the piece of the puzzle that make him a great offensive coach.”
And just imagine if the Bucs’ find a lead running back who rushes for more than a dismal 421 yards on 144 carries!
Dirk Koetter sure has the goods to thrive and deliver the most explosive offense in Bucs history, in addition to another top-5 offense like he did in 2015.
That should happen, if the Bucs stay healthy. But perhaps the bigger question is whether that top-tier offense would be better than the steamrollers in Atlanta and New Orleans.

I like the Gonzales comparison. He’s one of a few that regularly carved up not just ours, but NFL defenses everywhere.
Having TEs that can terrorize the defense will likely loosen run-defenses. I’m sure we’ll see our running game thrive.

I still see the weak link in this offense as Winston; we got him a shiny sportscar of an offense, lets see if he has the skill to drive it. Obviously I hope he does.

The way these fans work? It will never be blamed on Winston. If This team gets beat in any of the first 3 games it will all be blamed on Doug Martin. Not that the team was not good enough to win. Some of us do know Winston is not as perfect as some want you to think he is. They will have to win despite him!

Why everyone is looking, fearing, excited for the offense!!! Its the defense that will be aggressive and carrying this team!!! If the offense can get a quick score or two, Coach Smitty will unleash the rugged, attacking defense this year!!!!!! Look Out!!!!!!!

@ Realist – what’s funny is everyone seems to be assuming that the offense will carry the team; when no one is talking about how the defense was carrying the offense last year.

This should be an NFC South shootout season. I don’t recall a season when so much parity was crammed into one division. Of course my money is on Jameis and the Buc’s but there are going to be some train wrecks by the time we reach week 17. From game 8 on the playoffs will begin. If you are a football fan (esp a Buc’s fan) you gotta be pumped.

What planet do you live on? #3 passed for over 4000 yards in each of his first two seasons…the FIRST NFL QB EVER to do this.
He took a losing team and in his second year produced a winning record.
His own peer consider him one of the 50 or so top players in the league.
Do you realize there’s you and maybe five other guys who think #3 is what we need to worry about.

Left out Carolina adding McCaffrey and Samuel… The NFC South is loaded with offensive weapons. All the Bucs hype is a little concerning, especially if any of the players buy into it.

Realist, good to see someone else appreciates what our defense hopefully brings to the table this year. Everyone’s bragging on our Bucs offense, but they tend to forget last year’s 17-14 win over the Panthers, the 19-17 win over the Chiefs, the 14-5 win over the Seahawks, the 16-11 win over the Saints and the 17-16 second win over the Panthers. In those 5 wins last year, our offense scored an average of less than 17 pts/game, while our defense held the bad guys to under 13 pts/game. Fans tend to forget that there are some pretty good NFL defenses out there, as well as some very high-powered offenses. If the Bucs are going to make the playoffs this season, it’ll take BOTH sides of the ball, and special teams, performing at their best to make it happen.

Or did I miss something in translation here? We did not bring in Adrian Peterson, so how would he fit our offense? Why is Sean Payton going to change in our offense to make it run? ♫♪ I’ve always been Crazy, but it has kept me from going insane ♫♪

Rusty – those quotes were kind of crammed together but they seem to be a comparison of the two offenses. The Bucs addressed needs in offense and the Saints went out and got a big name RB who doesn’t seem to be a neat fit for what the Saints are known for, passing.

That last little diddy you said there Joe..IF..the Bucs stay healthy? This is the NFL And it will probably boil down to attrittion. Injuries are gonna happen. Just a matter od when and how severe. I don’t think any body is fearing our Bucs just yet. Perhaps game planning but not fear. cause other teams got ballers too!

Defense was a weak link. Defense had a good stretch. Outside that stretch was bad. Especially the Raiders and falcons headers. Arizona was atrocious. 2nd saints game was terrible. Rams put 37 on us at home. Need i say more. Mike smith is the biggest move of the year.
