Jeremy McNichols Out For OTAs
May 23rd, 2017No need to fret, Bucs fans. No need to go running for a paper bag to quell hyperventilating.
There were several players on floppy hat patrol today for the first open session of underwear football. Among them were Justin Evans, Mike Evans, Noah Spence and Robert Ayers.
No one is seriously hurt, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said.
Koetter emphasized he was being perhaps overly cautious and there is no need to get guys dinged up further in underwear football. Most of the floppy hat patrol players either had a very minor injury during workouts or are coming off an injury/surgery from the previous season.
One player who did not participate today and will not in any of the 13 OTA practices, Koetter said, will be rookie running back Jeremy McNichols. He has a shoulder issue dating back to last season at Boise State.
Koetter did not say if McNichols will practice during minicamp.

This will give him some “nose-time” in the playbook as well as time to heal completely.

Yeah, no need to rush an injury recovery this time of year. Probably the same thing with Beckwith.

“He has a shoulder issue dating back to last season at Boise State”
Get it right Joe!
McNichols is healing from Shoulder Surgery to repair a torn labrum that was performed just after the combine in March. The expected recovery time is 4 months which puts him on schedule to be ready to suit up for the start of training camp.

The only move we’ve made to potentially replace Doug and he’s out for OTAs.
Still think Doug needs a small miracle to stay, Joe?

Nobody else concerned about our 2nd, 3rd, and 5th round draft picks being guys who were one way or another hurt when we drafted them?

“Practice….we talking about practice? Man………….” – Allen Iverson when reading this article.

This has been known since the draft… not a surprise. Just like Noah Spence. Uh oh!! Did I ruin the next useless story?

Not a good recipe for a inexperienced player to miss significant ppractice time. If he gets too fRr behind it will be tough to impress the coach staff while playing catch-up.

I would say this is a bad sign for those who were projecting him as 2 down player. Cant make the starting club from the tub…ask Sweezy.

Doug’s not going anywhere
May 23rd, 2017 at 5:37 pm
Not surprised bout this just hope he don’t have Dalvin Cook shoulders and as long as “Pick Pocket” Sweezy ain’t on floppy hat patrol it’s ok. However rookies do need every bit of off season workout they can get so come training camp might be a little behind the 8 ball.

Nothing worse than a rookie missing OTAs. With an injury no less.
But he’s a sixth rounder. Always a crap shoot anyway. I just moved him to #5 on my personal depth chart. Martin, Rodgers, Barber, Sims, and him…. Will be RB by committee this year anyway I think.

Remember last year when people were saying that Koetter was going too easy on our guys?
Well, by the end of the year, we had one fo the healhiest rosters in the NFL!!!
Thanks Koetter!
A man of science and reason!!
