Doug Martin In Car Accident
May 4th, 2017UPDATED: 5:02 p.m. – Joe first saw the news at 4:39 p.m. on Twitter as shared by Paul Ryan of WFLA-TV, Ch. 8.
Per Tampa Police, at approximately 1:15 p.m. today, Martin was traveling eastbound on Azeele Street. The driver of a black Kia traveling southbound on Habana ran a stop sign and collided with Martin’s black BMW in the middle of the intersection. Martin’s vehicle was displaced from the roadway and hit an air conditioning unit outside of a local business. Martin received minor cuts and bruises. Tampa Police officers responded to the scene and cited the driver of the Kia for committing a stop sign violation.
Martin lives year-round in a Tampa house he purchased two years ago.
Joe hopes the medical report is accurate and this is nothing serious.
General manager Jason Licht issued a statement to assure fans Martin is OK.
“Doug was the unfortunate victim in an auto accident earlier today after leaving our team facility. While Doug’s vehicle sustained a large amount of damage, we are pleased to report that he received only minor cuts and bruises. He has been evaluated by our medical staff and has headed home.”
May 4th, 2017 at 4:45 pm
Hope he is ok…
May 4th, 2017 at 4:47 pm
Nothing can hurt the muscle hamster!
May 4th, 2017 at 4:58 pm

JK joe
May 4th, 2017 at 5:00 pm
So many people in Tampa area can’t drive for shizit. Hope he is OK.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:09 pm
BucNick, reported this on JoeBucFan at 2:10 pm.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:10 pm
Hopefully he just got banged up a bit .
May 4th, 2017 at 5:10 pm
Ain’t it the truth rayjay1122. I’m just an occasional visitor to Tampa but the drivers are nuts – more than once I’ve watched three consecutive cars blow through a red light.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:10 pm
THIS is why I said Jameis should have a driver for his trips to and from training … and if possible I’d want him in an armored truck as well!
And yes I realize the kid will drive for pleasure at times but when he’s performing work-related duties like training I would make sure he is protected to the hilt!
May 4th, 2017 at 5:11 pm
Sucks that his beamer got totaled. But he is truly blessed to be ok.
God is good.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:16 pm
See??? He is totally unreliable! First he tears his hamstring and now this. Trade his aas for Camel Light.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:17 pm
Does either joe own a Kia? JK
May 4th, 2017 at 5:18 pm
Joe will find a way to flip this around and blame Martin. I could see it now. His new name will be Bad Driving Accident Causing Bucs RB Doug Martin. You know, like he did Mixon despite the evidence showing he well within his rights.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:18 pm
Should buy a Volvo. Wouldn’t have a scratch on him.
Or as the Doug haters would say:
“Lots of luck rehabbing with another team, you suck, you’ve only had two good years, it’s your fault for getting injured, you’re a druggie, you’re the worst teammate ever, etc…”
Haters going to hate.
Go Bucs!!!
May 4th, 2017 at 5:19 pm
rayjay
So many people in Tampa area can’t drive for shizit.
I do not disagree Rayjay….but my experience everywhere else hasn’t been all the great. Since cell phones and texting driving has become dangerous. I thought I would ride a motorcycle in my retirement….not really with what’s going on out there.
The most frightened of traffic I’ve ever been was a a young Army dude having some fun in Bangkok in the late 60’s. Their traffic…at least back then..made us look polite and organized!
May 4th, 2017 at 5:28 pm
@JOE,
Any truth to the rumor that the black Kia was covered in New Orleans Saints stickers and emblems?
May 4th, 2017 at 5:32 pm
Dallas you can be a real piece of sh!t sometimes dude.
The guy could have gotten killed because some bimbo was probably spaced out staring at a smart phone.
Don’t even care if you were joking. Show some respect.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:43 pm
@Blake
Sensitive much?
Dallas was pretty funny mocking all the haters blaming Doug for injuries and looking for any excuse to trash him.
God is good? Don’t even get me started buddy.
Go Bucs!
May 4th, 2017 at 5:46 pm
Tampa drivers are not as bad as in South Florida or even New Orleans. But it is getting worse each time i come up there in Tampa.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:48 pm
ELLiot,
I thought it’s had been confirmed already that you’re an ignoramous of epic proportion, with nothing even seemingly intelligible to add to any conversation.
Yes. God is good. This is coming from a former atheist.
May 4th, 2017 at 5:57 pm
Don’t be dumb. C’mon.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:00 pm
For the record Dallas, I laughed lol
But seriously tho glad he is alright.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:00 pm
@blaakkkeee
Former atheist?
Let me guess, destroyed your life once or twice over booze, drugs, women, gambling, etc… and now all you have left is your reborn Christianity?
Get back on your meds and call your skeptical children Mr. Sensitive.
I’m not a god hater but I’m not about to start pushing that sh*t on a Bucs’ site!
…and my name is ElioT.
Go Bucs!
May 4th, 2017 at 6:04 pm
@blaakkkeee…
If you’re going to attempt to tell someone off, at least spell check that sh*t dumba**.
Jesus chr*st!
Go Bucs!
May 4th, 2017 at 6:09 pm
Hope Dougie is ok, we will need him.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:09 pm
Don’t have any kids, don’t take any meds, life is good.
And you were the one to bring it up, if you don’t care you wouldn’t have mentioned it.
Yeah ok maybe I over reacted a bit.
But i’ll just say this dude, open your mind.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:15 pm
You guys need to get a life, do you really need to comment on every post? Go fishing.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:22 pm
Mike Evans GOAT Says:
May 4th, 2017 at 5:17 pm
Does either joe own a Kia? JK
That is the funniest thing I have read on JBF in a while!!!!!!
May 4th, 2017 at 6:22 pm
I know Martin has not lived up to the best RB
But I hope he can come out this year and Run Over Sime People
May 4th, 2017 at 6:24 pm
German cars!
May 4th, 2017 at 6:33 pm
Glad he’s ok. God is good indeed.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:37 pm
Im glad hes ok.
Hope both drivers are unharmed
And yes, God is Good. ElioT.
Hope you find that to be true
May 4th, 2017 at 6:40 pm
He is Risen!
May 4th, 2017 at 6:47 pm
Blake,
You’re coming off as quite the White Knight.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:49 pm
He has been hit harder by linebackers…no problem! Next time wear your helmet Doug.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:50 pm
Wow, Dave Pear! Shots fired. Nice retort!
May 4th, 2017 at 6:55 pm
Blake
I’m impressed that you so elegantly used bimbo and god is good in a post…. Nice… I am sure you are a big hit with the feminazis and fellow hypocrites.
Gerbils are tough. He won’t have to worry about Tampa bad drivers soon enough.
May 4th, 2017 at 6:56 pm
Lol, I guess I had that coming.
Not bad Dave, for a cuck.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:00 pm
Blake,
In the famous words of NOSBOS, ” Ion care what you think about me. EAD!”
May 4th, 2017 at 7:02 pm
Didn’t realize having faith and knowing that young women today have a propensity to stare off into the twitterverse made me a hypocrite but Ok.
As far as the feminazi’s go, modern “feminism” is closer to being a societal cancer than a form of activism.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:07 pm
All I can say is this is a tough audience! And politically some of you are to the right of Attila the Hun. Still a fun place to hang though.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:09 pm
Surprised it wasn’t Joe that ran him over.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:09 pm
I bet Joe was hoping he got hurt bad enough that he won’t get to play this season… But he will kill it. This is the Doug Martin hate campaign afterall
May 4th, 2017 at 7:10 pm
Ahhh. NOSBOS. The guy that insisted we were wrong about his rb coming to tampa.
Best comment goes to K2 above.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:12 pm
Addiction recovery is a tough road, and Doug took a huge step. I am pulling for him, and hope that intervention and treatment will help him. Sorry to hear about this setback. Hoping he overcomes the odds, and sorry to hear about another setback.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:12 pm
Be well, Doug.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:22 pm
@Stpete
I totally agree that driving is worse due to cell phones.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:25 pm
RayJay
No it’s the bimbos fault according to Blake.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:29 pm
As far as all of the comments about God goes. I have faith also but I respect everyone’s right to believe in whatever they want or to not believe in anything at all
What everyone who doesn’t have faith don’t seem to understand is that we don’t have faith because we are so good or better than anyone else. It is simply a realization that we have sinned and are anything but perfect and are in need of salvation. Now, enough about all of that.
Go Bucs!!
May 4th, 2017 at 7:31 pm
Sounds like a coverup . Pills make it hard to drive
May 4th, 2017 at 7:34 pm
@Stpete
I hope you didnt take my comments on modern feminism to be reflective of my political views & idealogies.
Modern feminism is becoming increasingly more radicalized by the day.
Its basically devolved to the point where equality isn’t even mentioned, it’s driven by a hatred of Men, specifically, white men.
https://youtu.be/E5Brqo0vSNE
Take is young self hating, yet still pompous feminazi here, spreading bogus beliefs like subconcious biases and white privilege. And she is a mild version of what is out there.
“All white people are racist, all men are misogynistic, all cis-gendered people are transphoboc.”
*cringes* This is what I’m talking about. Feminism, for the large majority of young people, is all driven by hate and division.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:36 pm
Wow, I thought this was.going to get spun into anither reason Doug Martin should be cut. Bravo Joe.you are.one step further in your rehabilitation process of accepting the muscle hampster is going nowhere.
Go Dougie Go Bucs!
May 4th, 2017 at 7:38 pm
Starting RB(well at least not for the first three weeks) gets in a major automobile accident that was not his fault.
And the last half of the post is based on religion.
What the heck, let me toss some politics in here. /Come on people/
I am happy Doug is at least from the reports is ok. Yes the drivers Bay Area suck, remember most are transplants and yes I agree cellphone usage is one of the key reasons for accidents these days.
If you are a huge Doug Martin fan, raise a toast to quality German engineering, from reports the Beemer was totaled but he walked away. If he drove a Prius our RB discussions would be simpler.
I’m happy he is OK. I hope the other driver is as well.
May 4th, 2017 at 7:40 pm
Life is good, your “god” doesn’t have much to do with it.
Blake I selected you due to your hypocrisy and the “bimbo” comment. What if the person in the black Kia had a stroke? God’s will?
I assume the thousands of horrible rapes committed by holy priests, mass genocide, children dying of cancer hourly, etc… is “god being good” or is that God’s will?
May 4th, 2017 at 7:46 pm
@Tmax
I graduated from highschool this century my man, I’ve witnessed it.
People these days have a really bad habit of staring at their phone screen while driving. And it causes them to do stupid crap like blowing through a stop sign directly into a collision.
I worked at Jimmy Johns for over a year, and let me put it like this, we went through a lot of female drivers…
May 4th, 2017 at 7:52 pm
Wow!!! @Blake
Women “bimbo” hating reborn Christian! That’s the style!
May 4th, 2017 at 8:02 pm
Meh, w/e. Didn’t say anything hateful about women.
Anyway, not gonna sit here and argue.
Go bucs.
May 4th, 2017 at 8:08 pm
Maybe he found his new nickname?: 1. Crash
2. Side-swipe
3. Lil’ crash
May 4th, 2017 at 8:29 pm
TheShaz,
In addition to NEVER getting less than 48 mpg, as a Prius owner I’m aware of it’s 5 star frontal & side impact rating. I also know that it is rated as a mid-sized car, due to it’s size & additional weight from the batteries. Had Dougie been driving “the smartest car on the road”, the Prius, he would have walked away unscathed. Contrary to popular belief, it also has plenty of power. Don’t take an owners’ word on it though, South Park is a much more reliable source!
Glad you’re okay, Doug!
May 4th, 2017 at 8:49 pm
Rooting for Doug. I hope he is in 2015 form and determined.
May 4th, 2017 at 8:54 pm
Jesus Saves
May 4th, 2017 at 8:58 pm
Doug should have been driving a Hummer. Probably look like a kid in a high chair but unharmed. Let’s go Doug!
May 4th, 2017 at 9:00 pm
You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Anyplace is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we’ll make something
Me, myself I got nothing to prove
May 4th, 2017 at 9:01 pm
Hope Douggy makes a speed recovery. We need it. The first time I saw this report I thot I was going to read that he was high under the influence. I’m maybe not the case?
May 4th, 2017 at 9:04 pm
I hear ya Blake. I wasn’t particularly referring to you…I was thinking of the morning thread which does at times get political.
As far as feminism…I’m sure you’re correct that there are extremists who make the entire group look bad….but that’s true for virtually every group, movement, that I know. Sadly there are even some Buc fans who make all we football fans look bad but in particular young guys 18-34.
My last experience at the Old Sombero. Wife and I at a game against the Vikings which we lost…with another couple. So we’re in the crowd leaving the game out on Dale Mabry when a group of 3-4 young dudes are dropping F bombs and just acting out. A guy with two young boys in tow asked them if they would mind cleaning it up a bit considering they were in mixed company including young children. They told him…F off Mfer….bravely spoken eh…four dudes against one guy with his wife and two kids.
But this thankfully has not been overly common…like say at a Raiders game. Speaking of which…I wonder if Vegas Raider fan will more closely resemble the typical NFL fan or the Oakland crazies?
May 4th, 2017 at 9:09 pm
Cussing and acting fool in mixed company in public sounds like the leader of the DNC typical speech
May 4th, 2017 at 9:18 pm
Dang Doug sure isn’t doing himself any favors to win his naysayers over again…
Anyway sharpen those pencils!
May 4th, 2017 at 9:25 pm
Glad Doug is ok. I like the nickname Crash. Good suggestion. Much better than Muscle Hamster.
May 4th, 2017 at 9:25 pm
What I want to know is how did Elliot get involved with Blake calling Dallas an @sshole? I get along with most people on here (including the trolls) and it is well known that Dallas is IN FACT an @sshole. So idk why Elliot felt the need to play captain save a h0 and defend Dallas who has proven himself quite capable of running his own mouth.
May 4th, 2017 at 9:26 pm
What was his yards after contact?
May 4th, 2017 at 9:30 pm
Bobby M.
Best post of thread
May 4th, 2017 at 9:40 pm
ba dum chhh…hilarious Bobby.
May 4th, 2017 at 9:46 pm
Man I was in a car accident about 9 years ago where I got rear ended and my car was destroyed – I walked away from it seemingly OK, but then that thing called whiplash crept in. I honestly thought, and still think, whiplash was something an overwhelming majority of people who claim to have it make up in order to get a few dollars. In my case I was hit by an SUV doing 55mph and pushed head-on into a tow truck that was doing 50mph, so I got DP’d, and the whiplash has been very real and on-going.
For Martin I hope he really is OK. They said my injury was no big deal, but 9 years later, I feel it every single day.
May 4th, 2017 at 9:47 pm
How much ya’ wanna bet the driver that ran the stop sign was paying more attention to their phone than the sign ?
May 4th, 2017 at 9:48 pm
@ BringBucsBack
Martin Scores Easy
May 4th, 2017 at 9:51 pm
Rod…I hope you called Dolman Law.
May 4th, 2017 at 9:56 pm
Mike Evans GOAT…lmao. Drama galore here at JBF.
Elliot was wiggin out over Martin.
Is that the thread your talking about?
That’s how it used to be here at JBF when I first signed on. I’ve come to expect it win or lose.
May 4th, 2017 at 9:57 pm
This guy. I swear trouble doesn’t even go looking for him. It knows right where he is 100% of the day.
May 4th, 2017 at 10:01 pm
I’m glad he’s okay.
May 4th, 2017 at 10:06 pm
Goat…lol Sorry I missed the top of THIS thread. Damn. Tequila will do that to ya sometimes.
May 4th, 2017 at 10:09 pm
87
lol it’s all good. Just don’t drive tonight, we don’t need anymore hurt Bucs. Jk
May 4th, 2017 at 10:18 pm
ElioT …Silly Sally. I’m not a bible thumper, but I tend go with majority rules. Billions of people all over the world pray to some form or another of a God. So I side with those people. Billions can’t all be idiots.
That’s all I’m saying on the matter. GO BUCS!
May 4th, 2017 at 10:44 pm
Who let that dumb@ss Scott Reynolds on twitter? He tweets and retweets the same dumb $hit every half hour and has COMPLETELY ruined the Bucs section of the bleacher report app.
May 4th, 2017 at 11:59 pm
Goat
He’s got a fancy title though so I think that makes him cool no matter how ridiculous
May 4th, 2017 at 11:59 pm
ElioT
Howcome atheists like you are always complaining about evil? I thought atheism didn’t believe in good and evil lol. In order for there to be an objective right and wrong, there would need to be a universal moral law, no? So what are you really saying? And speaking of evil, you do realize atheists have killed more people in the last century alone than all religions put together in history, right?
May 5th, 2017 at 3:47 am
ElioT … you want to mess with someone about God, mess with me! I have studied religions for decades, lived in various countries amongst various cultures, and yes, God, as in the One true God of the Bible aka Jesus Christ of Nazareth is indeed “good”!
May 5th, 2017 at 7:30 am
You know who wasn’t in a car accident?
Dalvin Cook.
May 5th, 2017 at 7:42 am
TheShaz Says
“And the last half of the post is based on religion.”
You REALLY need to improve your reading comprehension.
May 5th, 2017 at 7:43 am
You know who will be out of the league in 5 years because of his knees?
Dalvin Cook.
May 5th, 2017 at 8:28 am
Blake- I was cracking on all you short-sighted fanboys looking to run a perfectly good RB for literally any reason, real or made up, and was not joking about Martin getting in an accident that he reportedly was not injured. Get off your mighty high horse and take your delicate sensibilities with you.
May 5th, 2017 at 8:30 am
Goat- no doubt you have an eye for spotting male stinkholes…in the dark, public restrooms, Trump rallies, etc
May 5th, 2017 at 8:39 am
I love it when self-agrandized religious experts lecture you on the certitude of the greatness of their god and belief system. It’s a hoot!
May 5th, 2017 at 9:26 am
Man even when driving the hamster can’t stay in the lane. ba da pssssssssh.
May 5th, 2017 at 10:04 am
Dallas
I was complementing you. But it’s seems u must live up to your monicker
May 5th, 2017 at 10:19 am
Goat- calling me an aashole is not a compliment last I checked…
Go back to your public restroom proclivities.
May 5th, 2017 at 11:41 am
When you are driving your car and Justin Bieber is on all the radio stations at the exact same time, there’s nothing left to do except crash your car!
May 5th, 2017 at 1:05 pm
So the car rolled a few yards before it hit a AC unit. The Car had more yds after contact than martin.
May 5th, 2017 at 1:21 pm
Dallas
I thought that u would embrace the fact that u are an aashole. So ur telling me that all of ur trolling is not intended to come off that way? U may need more help than I thought. Lol
