Happy First Practice!

April 18th, 2017

Joe has hard evidence that J.R. Sweezy engaged in football-like activities with the Bucs for the first time

According to former Tampa Bay standout defensive tackle Booger McFarland, guard J.R. Sweezy might still be wearing a ski mask after thieving nearly $10 million from Team Glazer.

That was Booger’s exact take on Bucs Uncensored last week.

Of course, Booger was referring to the fact Sweezy was a priority free agent for the Bucs in March 2016, but he never practiced outside of floppy hat patrol.

But the Bucs doubled down on Sweezy this offseason, expressing extreme faith in his positive post-back-surgery medical report. Still without Sweezy going through a real day of football, the Bucs committed another $5 million to the ex-Seahawks starter for this season.

Yesterday, the Bucs reported back to One Buc Palace to kick off 2017 spring practices. And there, buried in a Buccaneers.com workout video, was Sweezy. Joe teared up. Sweezy was smiling and fitting in. It was like Lifetime movie scene.

Joe grabbed the screen shot below. Sweezy is the smiley guy in the center of it all. Yes, Joe will head to Abe’s Place for lunch today to celebrate.

  7. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Sweezy is a real road grader, when healthy, and on his game.

  8. Tom Edrington Says:

Ah, the biggest disclaimer in football and sports in general:

“….when healthy and on his game…..”

Booty call sweezy! Gotta give this dude credit, he’s an even bigger thief than GMC. OOOOOOOH! I had to go there. Ha! Have a nice day ya’ll. 🍦

  10. Broy34 Says:

Yeah McCoy the thief. The leagues leading sack artist at the position last three years. What a thieving jerk. And now that he said he’s dedicated to stepping up in the fourth and changing his Media participation what more can one ask. Yes he gets hurt. He can’t control it. Love the guy. Then again Jamies is going to ny in two years so we might as well get off the site now. DB. IF u think that why even come on the site seeing we’re gonna suck in two years 😂😂😂😂 oh Joe thanks for still doing what you do despite the dumbest fan base in sports

  11. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Licht knows how to evaluate the FA OL that have been available during his tenure from letting donald penn and zuttah walk to nailing it with anthony collins and sweezy

  12. Broy34 Says:

And it’s clear maxi pad and wanna be derrick brooks r the same dude

Dusty-Lovie was the one making the moves first offseason how do you not know that by now. Why do I waste my breath. I need to be more choosy and sparadic on my posts and just wait til After the draft to read comments and skip over maxi “93 banged my wife and fathered my children” pad and D”I couldn’t valet for the real derrick brooks”B and enjoy my day. Outtt

  13. Chris Says:

Nah , DB talks about more than Mccoy, Tmax, on the other hand, all Mccoy with a sprinkle of Mike Glennon thrown in

  14. DB55 Says:

    Broy

I got a chocolate ice cream cone just for you. It might smell a little funny but just ignore the smell bc you’ll love the taste.

  15. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Broy34, can’t have it both ways either licht is the GM or he isnt, he gets all the praise for all the good picks, James and ME and Kwon and then Lovie gets all the bad ones? Can’t work both ways…..perfect example: Chris Conte is that a lovie or licht move?

  16. tdtb2015 Says:

    Awesome!

Ali takeover the Center position. Marlon Mack will continue to burn rubber at RJS.

    Go Bucs!!!

  17. Lord Cornelius Says:

Dusthy I blame Lovie for the O-line shake up and swap of Revis for Ghost & verner primarily and the annointing of Josh McCown. I also would say he had a heavy influence on the defensive backs in general brought in – as many were obviously familiar with him / played with him before (Jennings/Jenkins/Conte)

It was Lovie who from day 1 after being hired said the O-line needed to be fixed. It was Lovie who proclaimed MCCown the starter. It was his scheme that was consistently brought up in the jettising of Revis. In general it was pretty obvious to me what FA moves were motivated by who/what but maybe not so much for others. Light was a self proclaimed meat-head scout so right away it seemed most his influence would be in the draft…where he’s had pretty good success.

Last offseason was the first one without Lovie and it was dramatically better. Both Grimes & AYers were huge successes. Sweezy was a health scratch so blame our doctors but blaming Light for that seems like unwarrented criticism.

Sure Collins was a bad O-line signing. I’ll put that on Light since he should have known better… (and of course PFF had Collins rated as one of the best LTs available by far). But if that’s the “bad” I’ll take it with the 3 starters he found in 4 picks between the 2nd & 5th rounds of the draft all day. Oh and Joe Hawley / Logan Mankins / Evan Smith all contributed and were valuable at points… so his batting average on O-line FAs or vets is pretty solid actually

    My boy BIG JR Sweeeezzz😀..

  19. 941BUC Says:

@Teflon because I guarantee you that fir build a wall of o line men Doug would be a beast.I bet you a first round draft pick that Doug would be #1RB behind a Dallas line. that’s what we need.

  20. Buc You Says:

LOL at Booger “How soon to IR?” McFarland calling anyone out for not playing.

  21. Eric Says:

Welll I don’t think you guys realize the significance of this article. I too saw a pic of sweezy sprinting in practice. I was elated. The guy could be the game changer we needed. Look how much better our o line was with mankins. Sweezy is arguably a much better run blocker too.

Let’s just say if he does have an impact on the ol and our run game and passing game benefit from it, especially since we added djax, then the offense could be the best bucs offense in history.

sprinkle in consistency on the defense from last season to this season and I’m not counting out a superbowl appearance.

2017 is going to be very special….

  22. tmaxcon Says:

    Chris

come on Chris don’t leave out my love for Murphy lol

you nuthuggers of martin and gmc can say all you want but I am always right. simple as that.

  23. astrobuc Says:

Spoken like a 12 year old.

  24. JabooBuc Says:

I’m always amazed how people who wouldn’t last a day at a NFL practice will give players grief for being injured. Their bodies are the chief source of their livelihood so when they get injured it’s probably in their best interest to make sure they are healed before returning. For fans to not understand this is simply crazy to me.

  25. Lord Cornelius Says:

“For fans to not understand this is simply crazy to me.”

Well most fans are crazy lol

  26. Bucsfanman Says:

@tmax- I thought I was going to have to step in there for a minute!!!! Forgot Murphy!!! Whew!

    Welcome Sweezy!

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

And you guys are hard on Martin ? Yet Easy money Sweezy has never played a down and already raked in more Money than Martin has ever been paid by the Bucs. Talk about being a Spinmaster? hell, If I was Sweez, I’d be..skinnin and grinning too!

  31. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:
