It’s been two weeks since the annual billionaire-to-blogger chat, Joe and Team Glazer 1-on-1 at the NFL Owners Meetings.
Joe has shared plenty already, and here’s a little more from Phoenix.
Team Glazer has often expressed how greatly it considers fan feelings.
In fact, Joel Glazer said years ago that the pulse of the fans was among the reasons Jon Gruden was fired. Caring deeply about fans also is what led to the new Buccaneers’ customer service dynasty, as judged independently by the NFL.
JoeBucsFan.com: You have spoken previously about how important the pulse of the fans is to ownership. So how do you view the pulse of Bucs fans today? How do they feel about this team and what can you compare it to?
Bucs co-chairman Joel Glazer: I’ve been sensing a lot of excitement, a lot of anticipation. And I’ve sensed it growing over the last 12 months or so. I think people are generally excited about this year; I think they genuinely feel good about the direction of the franchise, not just that they feel it’s a quick, short-term direction. They feel like we’re on a good trajectory for sustained success. When we’ve had that in the past, this is kind of what it’s felt like early. I know I’m excited, and whenever I talk to fans, they can’t wait for the season to start. I’m sensing that people want the season to get started a lot quicker than they’ve had the last several years.
Yes, there already is extraordinary anticipation for this season, even the preseason opener that is only four short months away.
That’s what happens when your football team closes the previous year winning six of eight games, including choking out Russell Wilson and beating the Chiefs in Kansas City behind an all-world performance by America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
It almost feels like the Bucs fan mentality is back to where it should be. Yeah, Joe wrote, “almost.” The Bucs haven’t yet approached the buzz and fire in town of, say, 1998, but they’re getting there.

This team isn’t perfect, but I’m more excited about this season than I have been since the Dungy/Gruden era.

IF Mr. Winston is America ‘s qb then M.M. must be all world! He has been rated ahead of Winston both yrs and yet played in less games . AT least wait to Winston gets into the top 10 to give him such a glorious handle.

The first three games will get the buzz really going, got to start the season strong. It was one game that started the train in 98, when the Bucs choked out the 49ers, at that game you knew something special was about to happen, I can remember being at that game, it was that nasty defense

First, I’ve yet to hear one sportswriter worth their salt rate Mariota higher than Winston. They might be close, but pretty much across the board people consider Winston to be playing better. That is because Winston does a lot more for his offense with less tools than Mariota. Winston’s playbook is calculus to Mariota’s multiplication.
Also, have you ever noticed that Titans fans always bring up that Mariota has played less games—as if that’s a positive. The fact that Mariota can’t stay healthy is also part of the reason he’s rated behind Winston.

rrsrq – that 49ers game you are referring to was the 1st game of the 1997 season. Bucs went on to win 5 in a row to start the season before coming back to earth and finishing 10-6 and got their 1st playoff playoff win vs Detroit in the final game at the big Sombrero before losing to the Packers in the divisional round.
1998 was a let down as the team finished 8-8.
1999 we played in and lost the NFC Championship game to the Rams because we had no offense whatsoever – but that defense was one of the best in History. Better than the ’02 defense IMO.

Excitement and anticipation is fine. I was there many yrs ago. But not now. I’m a pragmatist. I believe in what works.Win some games..Show me. Then I’ll drink the..koolaid. Until then? You are still a team who has not qualified for the playoffs…in a long long time! Go out and knock somebody square on their A’s…Hit’em in the mouth! Qualify for the playoffs first.

Ben, there’s enough bandwagon fans already so please jump over to TEN before demarco Murray breaks something else, cause we don’t want your kind around here! Y’all Mariota fruit chokers STANK! If you can’t see that Jameis is better than Mariota (stats aren’t everything), just look at the free agent interest. I don’t see Mariota working out with AP, or helping secure FAs like Desean Jackson.. No he’s just crying about that broken leg, which speaking of legs wasn’t that his thing that made him so good.. How’d that work out for poor ol RG3 (ouch).. sorry Ben, but not sorry.. go move to Hawaii and watch Moab’s if you love someone Somoains so much.
