Rb in the 1st round!!!
Rb in the 2nd or later!!!
Its a smokescreen and they sign AP after the draft!!!!
And, I am a sheep with no opinion!!!! Joe has forced people to make a simple choice. You can do it! –Joe
Yep, but definitely doesn’t need to be in round 1 though. Last Super Bowl winner to draft a RB in the first round was 2010 who had Reggie Bush and he wasn’t even their leading rusher
Cook or Mixon. We will be in great shape for years to come with either one. Other teams talk about “triplets”, but if we get one of these RBS to go along with Winston and Evens….Just WOW. Then to have DJAX, Brate and Humpries, and are talking Dynasty!
key word there is “starting”. next years class as great too, so if they want to just grab a Marlon Mack, and pair him with Rodgers(or AP ideally), then im ok with them still looking for that franchise RB next year. Id say yes they need to draft a RB, Id like them to find the next starter as well, but we can probably squeeze another year without the longterm primary ball carrier we’re searching for.
As most of these polls the correct answer is, Not Sure.
Nobody knows how the draft will shake out. I thought everyone on JBF was all
about drafting the best player available in the positions of needs & not gifting starting rolls because of draft status.
No. The Bucs will be able to find a guy during training camp or after the final 53 have been determined and someone is out on the street who shouldn’t be.
There are a lot of good backs in THIS draft. Find him now. No one saying to gift a guy a starting job. The Bucs must come out of the draft with a guy they FEEL will start. After that, may the best back win it, no matter who that is.
Yes because there is too much RB talent in this draft to not select one. Certainly doesn’t need to be in the 1st round though. Kareem Hunt in the 3rd rd would be an excellent choice.
I can live with any of the above but prefer we hit on someone in those first 3 rounds. Mixon in the 3rd or 4th is a lot less PR I’d think than making him a top pick for whatever reason. If we took Aguayo in the 4th it wouldn’t have been nearly as big a deal PR wise
Yes Pepsi, you get it.
Starting running back Bucs Fans.
We don’t need a running back nearly as much as starting DE, WR, or S.
We have a starting RB in Quizz.
Drug Martin? Who knows, but still possible.
We know how he plays when $ is at stake.
Why don’t you guys ease up on your man crush RBs for now.
What I find funny is how some say everyday”there is so much talent in this draft at RB”. As if y’all have watched all these young men play thru out there time in school. Yea right. On Monday you’ll say in reference to Dalvin “you gotta watch more than some highlights” on Tuesday you same folks are good wit taking a RB that you saw play in the later rounds. Hog wash I tell you. If you think you in need of one you best go get him as soon as you can. Statistics show ones taken inn the later rounds don’t usually make it in the nfl.
You do realize Quizz was on the street before we acquired him right.. Look every team has RBs on they’re rosters. H3ll the pack had a WR playing it last season. But how many teams have true impact “game wreckers” like Coach K call’em in the backfield???
Realist!!! Had he made it that way RB we would still be winning the poll. Many here run they’re mouth everyday. Many others totally seem to disagree with what y’all saying everyday. Just don’t comment. They speak thru the numbers. I’m sure the organization is totally aware.
Look at poll results so far. Look at’em. Y’all really think people are taking the time to vote yes for some slug none of y’all truly watched while in school from the later rounds??? Really???
@Erik W/ Clean Athletics “The Korn Alexander of Bucs Fans”
Love the name! But in all seriousness, what are you smoking thinking that Perine (a college backup) is a better player than Dalvin? Its so ridiculous im not even mad, I just want some of what you are smoking!
Love seeing some of you ECHO the BIG back!!!! We need a MAC-Truck pounding the rock in the 4th quarter like MIKE40 used to!!! Still miss ya BIG guy! THE BEST EVER #A-TRAIN!!!!!!! Hasn’t been as fun, since he retired. Made me cry like a lil beatch when he gave his press conference.
ITS A NEW DAY THO, and LOVE THE DIRECTION WE’RE HEADING;)))))
I thought RB’S were a dime a dozen. Deep draft at that position so everyone says. I’m not against making Cook a Buccaneer if he lasts in the first round. You can’t please everyone.
Offensive linemen, defensive linemen and QB’s win superbowls
Great offensive lines make good running backs look better than they are and give a qb time to pick apart defenses
Great defensive lines make secondaries look better than they are and keep offenses on the field
Bucs should draft another offensive lineman or defensive end in first round
Said it in the other thread ima say it on thud one. Why exactly is this considered a deep RB class??? It must be because there are more entering this class than last years class. Because I don’t see an abundance of talent. Dalvin a game changer,Leo a game changer. After that who??? Kamara and his 9 carry a game average really??? NFL heads are already using the slot term for the other guy. Who else Foreman maybe, see those beefy ones come and go. I do like Perine in a run heavy system. Who else??? Hunt??? Y’all ain’t watch him play stop lyin,Mixon I continue looking at YouTube and not really seeing all the hype. Who else??? Mack,Pomphrey??? C’mon man.
Both Jason Licht and Dirk Koetter have said this is the deepest Rb class they’ve ever seen. Clearly they don’t know what their talking about. Bet they didnt even sit down on the sofa and watch these guys play on Saturdays. Smh.
OMG you people and quotes that come from people’s mouths from off the TV screen kill me. And your point is??? What are They saying??? Are they about to draft two or three RBs??? H3ll no. Maybe just maybe them noting the RB position means that a particular RB is being held at a greater level of esteem than some of you wanna believe. 805 and counting.
Somebody is pretty desperate for us to draft a RB that is highly likely to be off the board when we pick.
NOS – this is probably the best RB draft in at least 10 years maybe 20.
Fournette and Cook are both 2 of the best RB prospects to come out of College since AP. Top 5 for sure IMO. Both are ligit top 10 talents. Christian McCaffrey is also a special talent. His tape and productivity scream 1st round talent as well. These backs are so good that there is a very distinct possibility that all 3 will be off the board in the 1st 15 picks.
Beyond that – there are at least 20+ draftable RBs coming out and about 15 of those will go in the 1st 5 rounds.
Mixon (due to “character”) Kamara (Tn), Foreman(Tx), Hill(Wy) and perhaps McNichols (Boise State) will all likely go in the 2nd rd or spill into the 3rd.
3rd round and into the 4th is the real value area for RBs this draft. Perine (OK), Hunt (Toledo), Mack(USF), Gallman(Clemson). These guys all have NFL talent coming out and will be available this year for relatively “cheap” value wise compared to other years.
There’s a dozen good backs worth naming and at least 8-10 more will be drafted in rds 5-7
So yes dude – it is a very deep RB class for those who don’t have blinders for only one player – and that one player will likely be too expensive for the Bucs to acquire. (anything more than a mid 1st rd pick is too expensive for us IMO – even for the great Dalvin Cook).
We shall see what happens. If you are correct and Cook falls to 19 – I will be happy. If you are right and we trade up for him – I won’t be so happy because we have too many other needs in a draft rich with starting level talent that we need to tap into in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds.
Brian Hill is my favorite (non 1st round) rb in this class.
For me it goes
D. Cook
D. Forman
B. Hill
In that order. Hill very well could be this years David Johnson.
Simply put, no. We dont need a day 1 starting RB. But i do think we should draft one of the many talented Rbs this draft has to offer. Maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder that we can groom to maybe be a stud in the future. If we address the RT position and Marpet can dominate the Center position then our o line should make any RB look good. Also the fact we have more than 1 weapon on the outside will help take pressure off the run game as well. Im very much against any first round runnin back. The value just isnt there for that position.
Mike James.. Name ring a bell??? He was born of the “later rounds”. Actually had a stellar performance against the eventual champion Seattle Seahawks.. Is he even still in the NFL???
No to RB in the first why exactly??? Cause he might blow out his knee. But if you took the same RB in the 3rd or 4th and he still blew out his knee would it not have the same detrimental effect on the football team. I’m trying to understand the logic. Memo to you type anyone at any position can blow a knee out. Ask Jaq.
List of Running backs Selected outside the first round with 1000+ Yards from 2010-2016.
2010: Michael Turner 5th round, Arian Foster UDFA, Ray Rice 2nd round, Maurice Jones-Drew 2nd round, Ahmad Bradshaw 7th round. Jamaal Charles 3rd round
2011: Frank Gore 3rd round, Lesean Mccoy 2nd round, Shonn Green 3rd round, MJD (lead league with 1600+ yards), Michael Turner again, Arian Foster again, Ray Rice again.
2012: Alfred Morris 6th round (runner up to AP with 1600 yards), Steven Ridley 3rd round, Matt Forte 2nd round, BenJarvus Green-Ellis UDFA, Ahmad Bradshaw again, Charles again, Shonn Green, Frank Gore, Ray Rice, Arian Foster.
2013: Demarco Murray 3rd round, Eddie Lacy 2nd round, Jamaal Charles, Alfred Morris, Frank Gore, Lesean Mccoy, Matt forte.
2014: Le’veon Bell 2nd Round, Justin Forsett 7th round, Jeremy Hill 2nd round, Lamar Miller 4th Round, Demarco Murray (leading rusher), Lesean Mccoy, Arian Foster, Eddie Lacy, Frank Gore, Alfred Morris, Matt Forte, Jamaal Charles.
2016: Jordan Howard 5th round, Jay Ajayi 5th round, David Johnson 3rd round, Lev Bell, Shady Mccoy, Legeratte Blount UDFA, Devonta Freeman, Lamar Miller, Frank Gore.
You are wrong. Simple as that.
If you can’t understand why it would be worse to lose a 1st round pick than a 3rd round pick, then you can’t be helped.
What’s with the 1000 yards connotation??? When did that become the requirement for production from the RB position??? Did Freeman have a 1000 yards season With the falcons??? Was he not a major component of they’re offense??? Sure he was.
Devonta freeman is on this list. So yes, he did get 1000 yards. Also 1000 yards rushing is basically like the minimum bench mark for a successful season as a running back. Thats common knowledge.
Btw, I voted yes on this list. We can absolutely find a starting caliber running in the 2nd/3rd/4th round of this draft.
@Nosbos, I get a break now and then from the 12 hour shifts and the life I have outside of living on this forum like you….so I commented today, whats your beef with that?
Im all about DE, Safety or WR with our 1st…..if Cook makes it near the end of of it and we move back up for him, Im fine with that too. And I also wont be mad if he is our 1st pick. I just place more priority on the other positions for now.
Good job Blake. Got ya rounds a little off but good job none the less. Max never any beef bro, just a lot of s@$! talk is all. But as far your listed positions my beef with those are none will come in day 1 and have the immediate impact Dalvin will. DE, the one’s that would be available when we pick are any of them beating out the guys we already have for playing time next season??? Doubt it. Safety,I believe you draft a safety in the first much like you when you would take a RB in the first. When it completes the puzzle. Now with how our guys were lost the first part of last season Are we sure a young guy would even win the job??? WR, I’m of the belief that if he’s not becoming your #1 why are you wasting a 1st on him. Talking about a position that can found in the later rounds. See some say everyday this team has so many holes. They say s@$! every off season. I disagree, safety and TE can be upgraded but those imo are not holes. 1st rounds picks as far as I’m concern if you are building a roster should be day 1 starters.
Who was said the other day “Fournette is only back worthy of being drafted in the first round”.. To you my question is this, did you feel that way when he faced Alabama??? You see, the tide defense is the one he faced while in school that closes resembles a NFL defense. He came up small.. You wanna the clear difference between Dalvin and Fournette??? – ❤
NOS – Fournette had very few opportunities vs Bama. The LSU Oline was completely overwhelmed that game with Defenders almost instantly in the backfield at least 1/2 the times he was handed the ball.
You don’t have to dis on Fournette in order to try and make Cook look better. No need. Both are GREAT RB prospects. Both are legit top 10 talents. Different skillsets but both are excellent 3 down NFL prospects.
Cook has better vision, more wiggle, a bit more speed (don’t care what his combine 40 was – Dalvin has 4.38 type speed with pads on) is a better receiver and gets to the edge and down the sideline better than any back I’ve seen in years.
Fournette is bigger and more powerful but also has good speed for his size. He is a bull to bring down yet has enough vision, moves and athleticism to make dynamic plays in the open field – in addition to running over defenders.
Most “experts” consider Fournette to be the slightly better pro prospect – but its very close. Both are dynamic running backs and deserve to be drafted top 10.
Alright Nosbos, appreciate the clear up. I feel you on a day one starter, and those Ive mentioned will do that. So can Cook. Just me IMHO. I still see D over RB in the first. Im seeing Barnett in some mocks going #16…if so, how in the world could Mr. Hayes not convince Jason to get him before then. DAY 1 DE! And if some mocks work out that have Cook falling later into the 1st, trade up and get him. Then if we could trade the rest of the picks to land Obi….im doing a happy dance!!!!
I voted not sure, but really, it is not as important as people think this year. We have other options.
And really, the poll is not that simple because we all know you want Cook, so not narrowing down the options to rounds makes it appear as if you are supported in your desire, when in truth, a large percentage does not support the picking on a RB in the first round.
I will laught my tail off if Cook is taken in the first 10 picks.
As I said before, if Dalvin cook is there at 19. The Bucs take him. I know people are not a fan of picking a running back in the first round, but if he’s there they will pick him. As far as Joe Mixon!? I wouldn’t touch him with a hundred foot pole he can stay his girl beating ass in Oklahoma! IDalvin Cook is not there, I like Kareem Hunt out of Toledo.

Altho with ME and Desean on the outside a 1000 lil yards will be easy for Dalvin coming out the backfield.

Speaking of a 1000, this poll just hit an went over it for “yes”.. Good job all.
April 5th, 2017 at 7:32 pm
Devonta freeman is on this list. So yes, he did get 1000 yards. Also 1000 yards rushing is basically like the minimum bench mark for a successful season as a running back. Thats common knowledge.
Btw, I voted yes on this list. We can absolutely find a starting caliber running in the 2nd/3rd/4th round of this draft.

Voted yes On this *poll*

@Nosbos, I get a break now and then from the 12 hour shifts and the life I have outside of living on this forum like you….so I commented today, whats your beef with that?
April 5th, 2017 at 8:57 pm

April 5th, 2017 at 11:14 pm

April 6th, 2017 at 8:47 am
I voted not sure, but really, it is not as important as people think this year. We have other options.
And really, the poll is not that simple because we all know you want Cook, so not narrowing down the options to rounds makes it appear as if you are supported in your desire, when in truth, a large percentage does not support the picking on a RB in the first round.
I will laught my tail off if Cook is taken in the first 10 picks.

Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says
“What’s with the 1000 yards connotation??? When did that become the requirement for production from the RB position???”
Oh, get real, Nole. You know full well that has been the standard for decades.
Realistically, the goal should be 1,200 yards these days.
I know you want your guy, and I’m fine with that, but let’s not start trying to change the way things are to suit that agenda.
April 6th, 2017 at 12:39 pm
As I said before, if Dalvin cook is there at 19. The Bucs take him. I know people are not a fan of picking a running back in the first round, but if he’s there they will pick him. As far as Joe Mixon!? I wouldn’t touch him with a hundred foot pole he can stay his girl beating ass in Oklahoma! IDalvin Cook is not there, I like Kareem Hunt out of Toledo.
