Most interesting comment was Ira’s take that Bucs’ first defensive pick in the draft will be a defensive lineman. With our glaring need at safety, it’s really hard to visualize Bucs passing on a safety like Hooker or Adams or Obi Melifonwu if one’s there in favor of a DE or DT. And yet, stranger things have happened.

The “glaring” need is still no pass rush.

The most important player on the football field after the quarterback is a pass rushing specialist. Cutting the QB’s time to set up and pass is better than a weaker safety. If the best available DE is high on your board as one of the best athletes, then it’s a no brainer. Plenty of running backs later in the draft. Heck, they only last 3 to 5 years anyway in the “Not for long” League.
