Cherilus Retiring?
March 15th, 2017It seems the Bucs will be at least down one offensive lineman from last year.
Veteran offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus, per Jeremy Fowler of BSPN, plans to hang up his cleats for good. Cherilus, who did a good impersonation of swinging saloon doors while facing Dallas last season, apparently is done with football, per Fowler.
Joe understands fans wanted to run Cherilus out of town, but in the Bucs locker room, his younger teammates on the offensive line worshiped him.
Joe remembers when Donovan Smith was a rookie, he said it was Cherilus more so than Logan Mankins who helped mold him as a professional; (that is not to say Mankins didn’t help).
When the Bucs cleaned out their lockers after the past season, both Ali Marpet and Leonard Wester raved to Joe about how much Cherilus took both of them under his wing and was like a big brother.
Sometimes, even when a guy struggles the way Cherilus did last year, just the way he helps younger players, he was worth the roster spot.

We need a badass right tackle.
Forest Lamp?

I read the title wrong, thought it said “returning”, almost threw my phone across the room in anger.

Time to prioritize that position with a first 3 draft pick, possibly the very first after a trade back if we’re not going DE.

I agree with max I would like to see a high investment made on the oline. They need to get that figured out

Good!
Addition by subtraction!

Listening to Mike and Trey this morning and they said the Falcons and the Patriots offensive lines had the most snaps together of any team and we all know where that got them. Investing in our offensive line is well worth it! Go get a young talent in the draft to continue to build upon. Go Bucs!

Continue to Build A Wall…but not in Mexico…dumb a$$!

Last year was ugly (cowboys game alone cost us a playoff birth, FACT), peace out and enjoy the free cheese big fella✌️🤑🧀
Personally I’ve been finding tackles in all 7rounds, but you’re going to have to do it in the 1st 3 rounds like Max said^^^ For a BEAST!
ROUND 1 OT’s
1.Ryan Ramczyk
2.Cam Robinson
3.Garrett Bolles
Round 2-3 OT’s
Taylor Moton
Roderick Johnson
Antonio Garcia
Will Holden

Hey BigHog, can they all come stay with you? And you’ll take care of everything 100% while assuring they’re not criminals just escaping (or being dropped off by the Mexican po po)…..i mean, since its obviously such a dumba$$ idea…

Move Donovan to RT and draft a decent LT!! 😉
Just kidding, Joe. Feeling kinda ornery this morning, I guess.

Hope history doesn’t repeat itself, like it always does in Bucs history, last year everyone on here prayed for a significant addition to the WR corps, but apparently Licht n Koetter gambled on an aging injury prone vet (VJax), underwear champ (Bell), IR Allstar (Murphy), bowelman (ASJ), the undrafted squad…how hard is it to follow New England’s plan, do they need a WR, nope, did need a top CB, nope, well we need a startable RT, Dotson is average at best in his prime, he’s our aging vet this year, are we gonna rely on another IR Allstar like Sweezy to shore up the line, or a collection on undrafted guys like Webster….this is the time to get a top player at a soon to be need position, try staying ahead of the game, instead of waiting till your relying on over the hill vets, street FA, or medical couriers to fill one of the the most important positions

LOL!!!

“Weapons for Jameis doesn’t simply mean WR,RB, and TE. We have to protect our most valuable asset. Mike Mayock says Forest Lamp is the best OLineman in the draft and might be around at 19.

What good will a 1st round back do behind a below average line, and what happens if DJax goes down, 31 year old 170 pound receivers don’t break? we need more depth, we are going to only have CFL players, 1st year rookies, and undrafted players, Adam Humphries would not be a 3rd receiver on a majority if not all other teams, and are we really going to rely on a 5’6 RB, an injury prone receiving back, an unproven 2nd year back, a suspended injury prone unreliable back, plus a rookie, AP and Charles are cheap now, way cheaper than 29 year old Martin, one of those guys are better bridge players than Martin or Quizz, OL, RB, WR, TE, S, everyone of these positions are very thin on QUALITY depth, and then topping that off by blowing 2 picks on a kicker, wake up people, the future looks bright but it isn’t here yet

Thank you Gosder, and enjoy retirement!
Glad you retired a Buccaneer!

No doubt Gosder was a good guy and we got as much value out of him as possible. Thanks Gosder and enjoy your retirement. But it was time to stick a fork in him.
Mad Max….you do realize 500,000 went back to Mexico not came her in the past 8 years. Will the wall keep them stuck here? Oops I forgot about the alternative facts…how dare I bring up REALITY!
March 15th, 2017 at 2:42 pm
Watch out MadMax, BigHog, and StPete, there’s a microwave behind me!
March 15th, 2017 at 2:44 pm
Hey Cherilus, the people criticizing you here couldn’t do what you do. Thanks Gosder! Enjoy it man.

St Pete, Im all about migration and people coming here with the right intentions to make a better life for themselves…and being a contributing member of our society into our system. My great Grandmothers on both sides are full Cherokee….so dont even get me started lol. Im also part Irish and Scottish….those who are here and law abiding (yes, I know they broke the law coming here illegally BUT), Ive got your fix. Amnesty. I didnt want it before, but what can you really do now? (BTW, as ive mentioned it before my girlfriend for almost 10 years is Asian)
Build the wall, kick out the hard criminals, amnesty, get them legally in the system to contribute like the rest of us…..then put a plug in that leak. its going to take more than 4 years, I know but we have to start somewhere.
