Pryor Still Looking For Work

Still unemployed.
Possibly because he — read: his agent — got greedy with the Browns, wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is still unemployed. And he’s flying around the country pitching his wares.
Last night, Pryor dined with Redskins brass (no wine at the table?) and left our nation’s capital without a job.
The Washington Post reports Pryor is not in Washington today and he is “keeping his options open.” No sh!t. Like he’s going to retire?
Might Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht pounce?
Not sure how much Pryor is looking for but Joe would love to see Pryor on the roster. Now it gets to the point of there are only so many balls to go around. Mike Evans will want touches. DeSean Jackson was not hired to be only a decoy. Not sure Pryor would be comfortable being a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver (yes, Rudy Humphries is still the apple of the Bucs’ eyes).
Joe is convinced the Bucs will draft a receiver and would be smart to draft two. Also, a desperate receiver with NFL experience could be lurking come summer that would be a value signing.
All of a sudden, the Bucs look to have a crowded receiver corps if everything shakes out like Joe envisions.

Pryor read too many media reports on how much he’d get paid in free agency and overplayed his hand. 1 year of productivity won’t get you paid like a #1 WR.

I’d grab him for $6m on a one-year prove-it. Beyond Evans-Jackson-Humphries we still don’t have enough talent on the roster. Even after drafting a guy, we still will need one or two more guys as WRs. Almost there!

Alshon Jeffrey signed a 1 year prove it deal…maybe Pryor could be had for the same. I’d be OK with a 1 year 12 million dollar deal. Gives us a better chance to compete for the playoffs and doesn’t leave us on the hook when it’s time to resign Evans and winston

Wasn’t it reported that he wanted $10m per year?
Spotrac lists his Market Value as 4 yrs, $35,649,429, Avg. Salary: $8,912,357/yr
Clearly he isn’t getting offered the $10m and rightfully so.
I could see offering him $7.5m/yr plus incentives that can bring it to $10m.

I wold love to pickup Coredalle Patterson expecially with the loss of Sheppard. Would solidify our punt and kickoff return. Plus gives us more speed at receiver. Or sign Michael Floyd to a one year prove deal. That way any injuries and we still have legitimate receivers.

We need talent, for sure. But, there simply aren’t enough plays to go around for Evans, DJax, AND Pryor, especially with DJax and Pryor being um, Divas.
Draft some guys to develop and who understand their role.

People are forgetting…Koetter prefers to run 4 WR sets, but has been unable to do so here so far. You give him that stable and he will do it. And All of them will get plenty of catches because he likes spreading the ball around.

Plus I’m very excited about Desean Jackson… but the fact of the matter is he is injury prone. If he goes down for multiple games we will need someone other than Humphries as our no.2

Pryor is the guy i have wanted since the end of the season. Jackson was a nice consolation prize but Pryor should be the real goal. We get him and it opens the draft up even more. TE, DE, Safety, RB. WR is no longer a glaring need.

lol You guys put waaaay too much stock in Adam Humphries. If we were to sign Pryor, he instantly goes outside opposite Mike Evans. That puts DeSean Jackson in the slot. In that scenario, Rudy Humphries must wait his turn. Humphries is good for two things on this offense. Running dig or slant routes (basically the same route) and bubble screens. He cannot go vertical and get open. He can’t push a corner vertically and break off a route. Stop giving this dude so much credit. Brate is 10x a better route runner and he’s a Tight End.

Can’t see spending that much on another WR when we’ve already got ME and DJ. What about a guy like Kendall Wright? He’s smaller, but quick and shifty…caught 94 passes a few years ago. Could also play slot with Humpries! Probably cost half of what Pryor gets! Invest the rest in our own guys, or sign Nick Mangold.

Bonzai….I thought about that too, I’d just worry that he would have to be very clear on his role at this point in his career. Don’t need anybody with ulterior motives getting into Jameis’s head! We are in a 2-3 year Super Bowl window and team chemistry will be important….but I don’t think you are crazy!

Personally I think Pyror would have been a better #2 for us than Desean Jackson. 6’4″ 220 4.4 forty, at 27 years old, got 1000 yards in his first year at receiver with the Browns of all teams. This is a stud weapon. but Pyror wouldnt be pushing Desean Jackson off the field here. So I doubt hes weighing his options and chooses Bucs when hed be the third guy here. Not happening Joes. Start talking about Kendal Wright instead, or Patterson for his return ability, or Dontrelle Inman as a low cost high potential possession WR. Theres plenty of other guys out there that make more sense.

My guess is no one else would either, so he will try to go back to the Browns. But they replaced him, so that bridge may be burned. So maybe he will come down a bit.

You didnt outcoach yourself this time. Jackson is not a slot receiver, never will be. 4, yes 4 of his 56 catches last year were inside the hash marks. He’s not going over the middle, nor will he have to. He’s about big plays.

I don’t get the “Koetter prefers 4 WR sets” comment. Koetter has always seemed to be an evolving coordinator who tailors things to the personnel.
He ran different offenses at every team based on personnel groups.
If we draft OJ Howard you can bet Koetter will be all about 2 TE sets. Based on recent commentary that seems to be a focus moreso than 4 WR sets which I’ve never read a quote about in the last few years that would make sense of that.
Why would Jason Light do such a long explanation on the value of an in-blocking TE; and explain that adding a guy like that would not be a knock on Brate; if not for any other reason than to prepare the fans for the possibility of adding another TE?

I’d be fine if we go all offense in this draft honestly and let the defense play out so we can see where we need obvious starters (SS is really the only obvious hole right now and could be filled if we sign McDougald / Wilcox. No they are not above average starters and maybe not average; but we have enough talent on D to make it work imo). Do this and we can go all defense in 2018 if we want (and maybe go OT in what will be a better OT draft):

Pryor has been in the league and had an average year at WR in his second year at position. 2 years ago, this guy could not even run a route correctly so he never saw the field. He is still a project.

For the right money, adding Pryor could work. Look at it this way. Pryor replaces Vincent Jackson, Desean Jackson replaces early round WR draft pick. Keep Hump and get rid of the other 12 (pun) never gonna make it WRs on the roster. Get 4th round Development WR like Josh Reynolds/TA&M. Set for next 3 or 4 years. lol.

Matter of fact, He’s not. The numbers don’t show He is any more prone to injuries than anyone else with a comparable sample size. Actually, the numbers indicate He’s above the mean.

You know it would make sense to sign him. DeSean is a short term answer and probably wont be here past 2018 per Ira (and I agree with him). Two years would give time for Pryor to develop into a 1b receiver and would mean there is no need to use a draft pick on a receiver. I would take Cook or McCaffrey in the first, a RT in the 2nd and BPA after that. If they did that, oh my god would that be one dangerous offense.

Based on our FA moves, I am warming to idea of Cook being a Buc but only if McCaffery is gone before 19.
The other thing I believe is that Licht is calculating the post preseason release of some experienced DEF players for depth. I would imagine Coach Smith has a few ideas on who to target. Butler in NE seems to be on his was out; not sure a good fit unless Grimes is gone.

When he gets reinstated the guy we need to sign is Josh Gordon. We need a #2 WR to compliment Evans. DJax will be way more productive coming out of the slot. Gordon will be cheap and is a proven player. Who seems to finally have his demons at bay and would make one hell of a target for #3.

Pryor isn’t the only player that has overvalued his services. All of the predictions for contracts were over-inflated. Just because the cap rises doesn’t mean ownership is going to piss money away as if they are intoxicated on spreading love. Glennon’s contract was just flat out stupid. Idiot Bears. No surprise. other than that, the contracts are in line with normal expectations. Licht did a great job on my brother DeSean Jackson’s contract. It’s fair for both sides and sensible. Oh, did I mention that we landed DeSean Jackson.
