Terrelle Pryor Chatter
March 6th, 2017One reason Joe spends cash to go to these NFL events is to learn.
The access at the Combine to players, coaches, general managers and respected, plugged-in reporters is no less than amazing, both at the site of the Combine and offsite.
On Wednesday, Joe spoke with a member of the Cleveland press corps. The reporter told Joe three things: 1) The Browns want to keep talented wide receiver Terrelle Pryor. 2) Pryor wants to stay with the Browns. 3) Pryor is anything but a cancer that miscreant Pacman Jones claims he is.
Good stuff.
Well, later that same afternoon, Cleveland general manager Sashi Brown seemed to be bracing himself for the real possibility of Pryor leaving as a free agent this week, as Brown told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
Brown said the club “values” Pryor and appreciates that he wants to be back in Cleveland. But he doesn’t feel pressured to get something done before Pryor officially hits the market March 9.
“We don’t look at it that way, to be honest,” Brown said. “We’d like to have Terrelle back and that’s a priority for us. That said, we’re not going to panic if he’s not back, also. But he’s a good player, works hard, we think he fits in our system, had a lot of success with our coaches, so we think this is a great place for him to continue his career.
“I appreciated his remarks with the press about wanting to stay in Cleveland, and then it’s on us in this process here to try to make sure we can exhaust all options to make that happen.”
Maybe it is wishful thinking, but Joe is hoping it would be significantly in Pryor’s best financial if not mental well being to test the market.
And if Pryor does listen to other teams, let’s hope Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht shows him a Team Glazer check with a bunch of zeros on it.

That would be a #weaponsforwinston signing, that could do so much for creativity with the “O”. In draft, best available offensive player, OJ, Ross, Davis, Cook, Fournette, McCaffrey

Pryor is my first choice in FA. I think he has a lot of upside and he is young. Pryor, ME and Jameis together for years. How awesome would that be?!
March 6th, 2017 at 7:39 am
Pryor over Jackson all day long … Pryor is younger (27) he’s 6’4 225 with 4.4 speed , key thing is he’ll block on run downs like Evans … Jackson will not offer much in blocking & stays hurt … Jameis , Evans & Pryor have a relationship together already as well being that they work out together in the offseason.. please get Pryor her Jason .. Go Bucs!!

SIGN!, overpay, whatever it takes….
March 6th, 2017 at 8:01 am
Call it a pipe dream but imagine if we sign both demean Jackson and Pryor and draft OJ Howard in the first. Just thingk of a lineup with Evans, Jackson, Pryor, Brate, and Howard. Offense would be unstoppable

It is nowhere near just PAC-MAN jones. Brian Hartline and Alex Boone have both been teammates of his and both don’t much care for him. They’re certainly not alone.
NO.
March 6th, 2017 at 8:12 am
Should be going for him before Jackson and c.c. and we’re in great shape for the draft.
March 6th, 2017 at 8:29 am
Don’t like him. He’s a bum. Next please
March 6th, 2017 at 8:49 am
I been on here since the begging on the off-season and saying this guy seems off my gut says don’t sign him reason he’s too raw if he put up decent numbers as a wide out for 3 years I would say omg sign this guy quick but he’s too inconsistent & I know yes he was playing with the browns but look he also played with the browns so yea I say get d jaxs as a bridge player get a nice wr in the first or second round & we are set

Hopefully Pryor ends with the Bucs.
This is the time of the year when GMs and agents play the game of “what can I say to save (GMs) or gain(agents) more money.”
We shall see what kind of treasure awaits our beloved Buccaneers!!!!
In Licht I trust!!!

Jaboo
Well thought out post. We appreciate all the reasons you gave. LMAO
Meanwhile Pryor would be a great signing. He WANTS to win!!! He would be like #3 split out wide.
And remember he has scary athletic ability. He’s NOT an NFL QB…but he can throw the ball and run it as well and he even played safety for a couple of plays.
For those that missed the Cleveland-Miami game a recap…
At the start of the 2016 NFL season, Pryor was named a starter at wide receiver for the Browns. With Browns quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown inactive during a Week 3 contest against the Miami Dolphins, Pryor started as a receiver and took a few snaps at quarterback behind rookie Cody Kessler.
He also had one play at safety at the end of the second half.
Along with his 144 receiving yards, Pryor finished the loss with three completions for 35 yards, 21 rushing yards and scored his first rushing touchdown as a Brown. He was the first player in the NFL to have at least 120 receiving yards, 30 passing yards, and 20 rushing yards in a game since Frank Gifford did so for the New York Giants in 1959.
This kid is a freaking ATHLETE…Think Hines Ward with more size and speed…same kind of desire as Ward as well. He’s just now beginning to learn route running…working with Moncken will only speed up that process.

Sign Pryor for 3 years 33 million and then sign Evans for 5 yrs 65 million and we have 2 young studs who are basically uncoverable. Although, there are alot of good pass catchers in the draft and I’m not quite as desperate to get Pryor. But he’s definitely a superstar in the making.

St Pete- I am well aware of his talent and who he is. I also know people that have been involved with him and from what I’ve heard it ain’t pretty. If he is all that you think he then why would a team like Cleveland, completely void of talent, let him test FA. Based on what I have heard, I think Jameis would have a real problem with him.
We shall see

Who have you heard this “stuff” from? PacMan Jones? My son lives in Columbus and vouches for Pryor both as an OSU fan and a Browns fan.
The major knock on his personality is that he’s a sore loser. That should please the ice cream and help people up bashers here.
If the Bucs sign him you can be sure they have done their due diligence.
Bleacher report had a great feature on Pryor’s conversion to WR and how obsessed he became to prove he could do it. He worked with a special coach and other NFL WR’s….including….wait for it…
Others, more experienced receivers, helped. Josh Gordon, Mike Evans of the Buccaneers and the recently retired Moss all signed on to help Pryor learn the finer points of the job. But it was Cortazzo for whom the task became almost a full-time job.
March 6th, 2017 at 9:12 am
Friends involved with the OSU program. Big ego with entitlement issues. Not a leader.
March 6th, 2017 at 9:14 am
Hey Jaboo…I think you got it twisted. I think Pryor’s testing free agency because Cleveland’s void of talent, not the other way around.
March 6th, 2017 at 9:20 am
He’s a Cleveland kid and they could have locked him up.
March 6th, 2017 at 9:27 am
Go sign some playmakers; who cares if they’re a-holes? Warren Sapp is one of the bigger a-holes on the planet, yet he was one of the most beloved Buccaneers of all time. As long as they’re not criminals or drug abusers, they should be welcomed with open arms. As John Madden said, “Winning is the best deodorant.”

Pryor, Britt, and Draft someone!

Mort
How did the Choirboys led by the leader of the losing Culture cancer93 fair the last 7 years… Let me help you they have held down the basement and have embarrassed themselves more than they have won… The team captain / choir boy experiment started by Dominick and finished off the by the worst coach in bucs history Lovie Smith was a complete and total FAILURE!!!! Bucs need talented football players not your version of Beaver Cleaver….
March 6th, 2017 at 9:38 am
@Mort
I brought that side of the Pryor situation up before and it was brushed to the side. Idk what it is, I just got a bad feeling about him.
March 6th, 2017 at 9:39 am
garbage
March 6th, 2017 at 9:50 am
Pryor all day long over Jackson. I do not claim to know anyone who “knows” him or know of anyone who knows of Pryor. I watched the Brown and Miami game and thats all I needed to see. I think JMic has it right I don’t think he really wants to stay in Cleveland. My family is from there and they want nothing to do with going back there, juat the thought of it turns their stomach.
With JW3 ME13 and Pryor I think those 3 will hold the offense to extremely high standards and not let anyone get away with slacking off.
Also I think you could find an inexpensive upgrade at an oline position or two and put betty white in the backfield and she would still manage 3-5 yards per carry with the defense so worried about Evans, Pryor, Brate, and Humphries (dude has NOT reached his ceiling yet). Khalil or T.J. Lang would be perfect additions to the oline. GO BUCS!
March 6th, 2017 at 10:54 am
Guy doesn’t need to be a leader. Evans and jaboo fill that role. Doesn’t need to be a good loser, gmc fills that role. Just needs to play ball and play well. He will be kept in check. Remember, Vincent Jackson was supposed to be a cancer too, but he let freeman lead him. And that was freeman for cripes sakes. Imagine what winston can do for gordon?
March 6th, 2017 at 10:54 am
Seriously? You want to pay TP like a #1? The value isn’t there.
March 6th, 2017 at 2:58 pm
Well – he’s certainly worth talking to (or his agent rather). JL may just have that chance tomorrow…
March 6th, 2017 at 10:36 pm
Look-I see it like this-would I be happy if we signed Desean Jackson? Of course. He’d be a HUGE upgrade from our existing WR corps, (ME excluded of course), but with all that speed and talent, if we didn’t win I have a feeling (and it’s just a feeling, mind you) that DJax would just shrug his shoulders and smile with his fat paycheck and say “maybe next time”.
ON THE OTHER HAND, I would be pumped if we got Terelle Pryor. Does he have DJax’s experience? Nope. But look what he did playing in Cleveland with NOTHING QB’s!! And no one else for defenses to focus on!! Now…imagine him opposite Mike Evans, with Hump in the slot, Brate at TE, and our new shiny toy (Cook?) at RB? The best defense in the league couldn’t stop us!! Now, just for the Hell of it, imagine a fake to Cook and a screen to Pryor. But wait.. Pryor passes it to a WIDE OPEN Mike Evans!! THIS is the versatility and talent Pryor would bring to the Bucs. Can’t cover everyone folks.
I hear what some are saying about attitude. But seriously, you DON’T want someone one your team that gets pissed when they lose? Makes me think the ones against this particular acquisition are solidly in the McCoy apologist camp.
