Bucs Are A “Juicy” Destination
March 3rd, 2017It has already begun.
Since news broke late last night that the messy Jets released talented wideout Brandon Marshall, it didn’t take long for the folks at NFL.com to find potential landing spots for the former Pro Bowler.
And Marc Sessler believes the Bucs are in the mix.
The positives start with quarterback Jameis Winston and a Bucs roster growing in power. Tampa Bay enters next season as a playoff contender, but it’s hard to imagine the team dumping 34-year-old Vincent Jackson only to turn around and sign the 32-year-old Marshall. It’s more likely the Bucs mine the draft to get younger at the position, but a Marshall-Mike Evans combo is juicy on paper.
Is Marshall is the same player he was, say, two years ago? No. Does he have gas left in the tank? Yes. Is he better and more reliable than, say, medical courier Bernard Reedy or noted frontman Freddie Martino and his Band of Renown? Don’t be dumb.
If the Bucs did sign Marshall, Joe expects the Bucs to draft a wide receiver high in the draft and Marshall would be the proverbial bridge player Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht always talks about.
Joe will have an interview early next week from an NFL insider who told Joe that the Bucs have a wild card in their pocket to lure offensive weapons that NFL players want to play with. Who could that be? This guy.

The Tampa Bay area is a great place to live, and no state income tax here either.
Now that we have a handle on the MRSSA, players want to come here to Tampa.
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:06 pm
Sign him! Great fit across from Evans, Marshall would make our passing game dynamic and improve the run game.
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:08 pm
Marshalls Evans and Jackson lining up together? Watch out breezy cuz Jaboowins gonna get somebody pregnant. Sssh I might get somebody pregnant. What nights does Pablo work again?
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:09 pm
Can’t see it. Doubt it will happen.
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:16 pm
DB55, are you talking about Vjax or Djax?
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:22 pm
It would be a great pickup the guy is a catching machine!!! evans, marshall, hump brate, and a 2nd round stud would be awesome
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:32 pm
Hopefully we sign him and get rid of V-Jax. I don’t understand the point of keeping him around. Mike is already better than V-Jax was in his prime, doesn’t make sense to still have him in a “mentor” role, especially if we sign B-Marsh.
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:38 pm
Give him a shot on a 5-6 mil per year 2 year deal with nothing guaranteed. As long as they still draft a young WR and attempt to bring in a guy with speed it shouldn’t hurt the team at all. They could possibly even move into the slot like AZ did with Fitzgerald.
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:41 pm
Vjax although I’m just talking ish. Bored! And it’s silly season.
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:42 pm
Okay..I changed my mine from the other thread..saw some recent tape and he still has it..not like 2 or 3 years ago..but he’s got it..
As a mentor to whoever we draft? Excellent if you ask me..he himself sought the solution to his mental problems and is not ashamed to admit it or to help others..he contributes a lot to mental health organisations..
So I’m on board and I know he said he wants a contending team, that would be us indeed..
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:43 pm
1 reason about 90% of FA want to come to Tampa is because they see what Jameis has done with subpat players with the exception of mike and our TE.everyone that wants tobcome to Tampa this season have one thing in common…..A Super Bowl Ring!uhhh is it any simpler than that?everyone sees that Jameis has taking the league by storm and he will let no one get in the wayml.its either your with us or get the hell out the way!

Toxic personality. We don’t need him. Not worth the inevitable strife.
Good luck to him elsewhere.
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:58 pm
Could have had him in his prime but Dominic wouldn’t give up a third rounder.
March 3rd, 2017 at 12:58 pm
This is just the beginning of people wanting to come here and play wit Fameis. Just the beginning.
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:09 pm
DB55,
I’m not suggesting this happen, but VJax is still in the news. It ain’t over til the Bucs say it’s over. lol.

Veteran WR Vincent Jackson is not retiring, source said. He dealt with an MCL sprain last season. His contract is up.
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:17 pm
Marshal still has it. Last season decker went down, fitz was a slug loaf, asj was brought in it was so bad. I see no reason he cant play like he did in 2015
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:18 pm
Sign Marshall and draft JuJu in the 2nd
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:20 pm
marshall will be a great addition. he is a jeffreys clone with less baggage and 10 million less per year…
wanted anquan boldin to teach ME how to fight/body position/mental dominance over defenders last year….now we have the second best choice in all of football to teach the little tricks to similar type reciever as these 2
Marshall will make evans even better…
V JACK IS CANCER AND WAS NEVER EVER A MENTOR TO ME. THE SELFISH PIG LEFT THE TEAM AND 1 BUC PLACE DURING HALF THE SEASON
VJACK AN ME NEVER MIXED…MARSHALL AND ME WILL MESH LIKE KOBE STEAK
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:24 pm
If Jason Licht signs him, I will have lost all confidence in the man. Brandon is a team cancer.
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:25 pm
It does not surprise me that local fans want him though…they jump at every has-been name.
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:27 pm
41BUC Says
“reason about 90% of FA want to come to Tampa…”
LOL! Now that is a made up statistic!
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:28 pm
Waterboy Says
“Give him a shot on a 5-6 mil per year 2 year deal with nothing guaranteed.”
Do you not know Brandon Marshal? He would refuse that kind of money, and he would demand the ball almost all of the time, and then start shoving his coach and QB when he doesn’t get the ball.
Sheesh. Marshal is mentally unbalanced.
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:35 pm
kobe
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:39 pm
@Bonzai as soon as it happens send him packing. That’s the luxury of the NFL whatever you don’t get guaranteed in your contract you lose if things don’t workout but it’s worth a shot. I do agree that he’d be on a short leash.
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:44 pm
Bonzai- most nfl ers, especially wr’s are mentally unbalanced. Jeffries and d jax def are. The big difference between marshall and them is that marshall knows ha is unbalanced and is seeking help. The Marshall from Denver and early jets was a cancer, but he seems to have changed that in the last 3 years. (And before anyone says something, I know most is an obvious exaggeration. But the wr position isn’t called the divas for no reason)
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:51 pm
The NY jets wanted him back for 2017…..EOM
March 3rd, 2017 at 1:59 pm
please lawd JW work on your long ball this summer. Please or else all this WR talk is useless.
March 3rd, 2017 at 2:08 pm
I actually totally agree with Bonzai. This guy has complained at every stop in his NFL career. Then I see some guy talking about how selfish VJ is…… I just smh at some of you. Just a question…. Why pick up a 32yo with team issues, and not someone else? Someone with no issues. It’s a short list ofWRs, but I’d like to hear truth and not just want
March 3rd, 2017 at 2:09 pm
Yet another option. Interest by the Bucs would likely depend on what his salary demands might be.
March 3rd, 2017 at 2:15 pm
i’m glad he’s on the market because that helps depress the value of other big name WRs, but i hope he does not end up a buc. we just went through age 33 and age 34 with another formerly elite big body WR, and it turned out to be a waste of training camp reps both years for the most part.
March 3rd, 2017 at 2:22 pm
Okay guys hear me out I say make d jaxs, Campbell & an top center our big money FA & I say wait for Marshall if the guy can take a show me contract sign him I think he can play but I also don’t wanna pay the guy a big contract hey that’s way better than what we would have
March 3rd, 2017 at 2:54 pm
Sign him Licht
March 3rd, 2017 at 3:18 pm
Bonzai
You obviously don’t follow Brandon Marshall. He used to be like that but now his condition has been diagnosed and he’s doing extremely well both on and off the court. Like a pillar of the community type. He’s good and would be a great influence on ME and JW.
March 3rd, 2017 at 3:41 pm
With Bonzai on this one. Doubt that Marshall would come to Tampa for $5-6 mil a yr on a 2-yr deal. Also doubt that if we sign him (at 33 yrs old) that we’d also sign another ‘old-timer’ like Desean Jackson or Pierre Garcon (actually both of them are a couple yrs younger than Marshall). We need to be building through the draft, and if we draft a WR, plus have Evans, Humphries & Shepherd on-board (as a minimum) Brandon Marshall wouldn’t get targeted enough to keep him happy. Some others might be happy being used to ‘stretch the field’ but not Marshall.
March 3rd, 2017 at 3:44 pm
I played golf with Brandon Marshall in 2010, his last year in Denver.
My partner and I got hooked up with him and his buddy on the first tee because the course was crowded and they did not want any twosomes out there.
I played 18 holes with the guy and had NO clue who he was. I had stopped playing Fantasy Football by that time.
I will tell you this, he was very polite, did not swear or drink and his golf game sucked. His partner on the other hand got hammered, swore like a sailor and his golf game sucked too.
I did not know that he was an NFL player until we were done with the round and the Golf Pro asked me if I had a goof time playing with a Pro football player.
In his 11 year career he has only had 3 years where he did not have over 1000 yards receiving.
82 career TD’s.
I say bring him in for a look, at least!
March 3rd, 2017 at 3:48 pm
I would rather have De Jax but Licht knows best and I believe in him. Js
March 3rd, 2017 at 4:58 pm
So V Jax caught the injury bug starting at his age 33 season, and now we’re expecting a 32 year old to come in and perform for us? Even if we did sign him, I think we would definitely need to bring in a big time insurance policy in case he goes down. Can’t deny that he’s better than Reedy and Martino though
March 3rd, 2017 at 5:24 pm
Licht’s bridge work was a homerun last year. I look forward to more genius work by Licht.
March 3rd, 2017 at 6:47 pm
“Mike is already better than V-Jax was in his prime.” LOL. So incorrect.
March 3rd, 2017 at 7:13 pm
Puff Puff pass!!!🏈
March 3rd, 2017 at 8:47 pm
Marshall used to be elite…..he just isn’t the same player as he was three years ago. The Buccaneers can do better either in the draft, free agency, or trade.
March 3rd, 2017 at 9:42 pm
Marshall caught like 59 passes last year but problem is he had like 150 passes thrown his way. Who knows what kind of effort we’ll get from this guy going to a team that hasn’t been in the playoffs in over a decade so no thanks
March 4th, 2017 at 8:07 am
I agree with DB55. I have followed Marshall closely for years as he is friends with my son from their UCF days. Those who say Marshall is a head case are going back to his days with Denver and Miami. Even in Miami, where he got diagnosed, he has been fine since then. He would be a great addition to the Bucs and cheaper than DJax. I still prefer Stills or Pryor, but I would not complain about getting Marshall.
