Dominik On Jameis: “It’s A Shame”

February 25th, 2017

Yes, America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, was skewered by Tampa Bay Times columnist Tom Jones this week, step 1 for a pathetic nationwide assault on Jameis’ character for unintentionally delivering a sexist message to elementary school students while volunteering to help them.

(Next week, it’s rumored that Jones will go after the Rays organization for airing erectile dysfunction ads in games promoted to children.)

If you haven’t noticed, Jameis’ rough sentence during a roughly 40-minute, warm-hearted motivational speech resulted in a cavalcade of hate thrown his way from all kinds of media.

It was a big topic on BSPN, and former Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik, now a BSPN TV analyst, weighed.

In the video below, you can watch Dominik stand tall for Jameis, talking about the work he’s seen Jameis do in Tampa and how what happened to Jameis in the media “is a shame.”

(Note: Dominik says the Bucs were unaware Jameis was going to the elementary school. In fact, Buccaneers.com was there and reporting.)

The media is still going after Jameis?why don’t they go after Big Ben for the crap Antonio Brown does,or Peyton Manning for when Aqib Talib screwed up.let Jameis be Jameis.we have a leader in the bay now and the fans won’t stand for disgusting criticism.what’s next?BREAKING NEWS!Jameis WINSTON slammed for promoting cigatretes with his Las name!!

  2. Bird Says:

Feel bad for him. Mixed up words. Simple as that

  3. duthsty rhothdes Says:

941 spot on Tom Jones is a#fakenews punk….and to hear those cuckholds on BSPN bloviate from 1000 miles away is a joke… GO BUCS GO JAMEIS AND GO GATORS BEAT UK

  4. Avejoe Says:

Sorry Joe, but that was a very intentional message that reflects what he really feels. God help any fool that ever tries to tell my daughters to take a back seat and stay silent. The fact that Joe is not outraged by this, only goes to show that he cares more about football than basic human decency. What a sad pathetic display of a human being.

  5. Avejoe Says:

Time for the Bucs to put him back on a leash

  6. Lpao22 Says:

Feel bad for Jameis. He takes his day off to go and do this and try to encourage fifth graders and This Is what he gets? I guarantee we would have heard nothing about this otherwise. Mainstream media just pushing their agenda. #fakenews. Thank you mainstream media, you failed again.

  7. Avejoe Says:

Encourage 5th graders? What part of tell girls to sit down and shut up was encouraging? And this is not fake news. He actually did this, so own it and stfu. When will society quit making excuses for brainless athletes. That’s what is truly sad.

  8. ben Says:

i will agree the bucs qb has been 1st class since he has been here but … play the video of him in the cafe at school and hear him screaming nasty and vulgar remarks to a female. I think he deserves the benefit but it takes time.

  9. Gambelero Says:

If I was James, I’d say “Blank ya’ll! I’m not doing anymore of this community outreach stuff.”

  10. Gambelero Says:

Jameis not James (the person who invented autocorrect should end up in a special circle of Dante’s bad place along with the guys who invented speed bumps, ties and male purses)

  11. cover deuce Says:

This is a bit of a tempest in a teapot. What he said was inarguably sexist – I’ve listened to the recording several times. All anyone seems to want to comment on is the ‘”gentle, polite,” portion of the remark, nobody seems to remember he also said “silent.” If anyone told my daughter that she had to be “silent,” I would surely have something to say about that. Now, indelicate remarks aside, Jameis also didn’t do himself any favors with his apology either, in which he apologized for the words but not necessarily the sentiment. I agree that the rush of the Tom Joneses of the world to condemn him is probably more sizzle than steak, but I don’t understand why the Joes are so eager to give him a free pass on this either.
Joe wrote extensively on this subject and didn’t give Jameis a “pass” like you suggest.–Joe
Like it or not, his past mistakes and baggage makes people pay extra close attention to his attitudes regarding the fairer sex. You know it, I know it, and he should definitely be aware of it, or be made aware of it if he isn’t. From what I’ve seen Jameis embraces being a role model which is to be commended – but that fact alone does not make him immune to criticism for saying stupid, sexist things.

  12. Maxx Says:

Wow, with ALL the IMMENSELY positive things he has said & shown since becoming a professional, it’s really disheartening (yet, no surprise really) that the media (BSPN especially) has leapt at the thought of Jameis being human and making a very rash choice of words that taken totally out of context, is ridiculous. Next “news” story please.
All true fans LOVE Jameis for who he is, what he is and for what the future holds for him and true Bucs fans. Gotta love the guy! Hell, my wife knows nothing of Bucs football really and has Jameis on her Instagram page and she tells me daily that he appears to be the sweetest kid around. STOP LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT ISN’T THERE PEOPLE and give him a huge pass.
Jameis is surely shaking his head at the minority of people still holding a grudge over nonsense from the WAY past.

  13. Maxx Says:

Oh, and AVEJOE…seriously buddy? Lighten up.

  14. BKNYfootballhead Says:

Still a bunch idiots making this political. Sheesh!
And “fake news” ? Jameis is quoted, there’s nothing fake about that. There’s a big difference between (this story) sensationalism and fake news, but ignorance takes front to a bunch of bruised feelings.
I hate to see Jameis skewered as much as the next Bucs fan, but he made his own bed and he’s man enough to pull through it. Stay strong Jameis

  15. TampaTown Says:

    @Lpao22:
    Well said.

  16. Evo Says:

It’s obvious some people here still have an agenda against him. People like avejoe don’t care about the context of words. Listen to what he said. 2 mins before that. He had the entire class saying they can be anything they want to be. And instead of singling out one boy that wasn’t paying attention he asked all the boys as a group to stand up.

I bet money if he would’ve singled out the one kid nor paying attention avejoe would’be demonize Jameis for picking on one kid either way Jameis was in a no-win situation there he should have just let the kid B

  17. gotbbucs Says:

It’s pretty simple, don’t say or do stupid sh!t and they won’t have any ammunition to use against you. Like I said before, Jameis needs to take a lesson from the elite QB’s of today, stay out of the limelight and win football games.

  18. Evo Says:

He did a good thing. Let’s not over look that because of a poor choice of words in an otherwise we’ll spoken well intended speech.

  19. Poor Glennon Says:

Face the facts people. He’s our QB but he has questionable character. If it was big Ben. You all would be calling him a d-bag.

  20. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Another media smear campaign. Jameis has done nothing but be a great guy in his tenure with the bucs. And these “media” scumbags decide to isolate one moment of a 40 minute speech that was largely very positive.

Let me try my best to put it in Trump tweet speech.

Jameis is a very good guy. The best. Media is being very unfair!
    Very Unfortunate. #FakeNews

    I voted for Bernie.

  21. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Another media smear campaign. Jameis has done nothing but be a great guy in his tenure with the bucs. And these “media” doo-doo heads decide to isolate one moment of a 40 minute speech that was largely very positive.

Let me try my best to put it in Trump tweet speech.

Jameis is a very good guy. The best. Media is being very unfair!
    Very Unfortunate. #FakeNews

    I voted for Bernie.

  22. Lpao22 Says:

Wow.. I guess I hurt some feelings.. this is not even a story. Did you even watch the real speech?? He was encouraging both female and male students there throughout it. Could he have used a better word to replace silent? Sure, but his intentions were not to state that females are a lesser Person than males. If that’s what you see out of that then you are just falling into what the media has created. It is fake news not because he didn’t say what he said. It’s fake news because the media has manipulated the words and has created a false narrative to fit their agenda. Most journalism is dead. Minus josbucsfan, of course lol

  23. Mort Says:

He didn’t mix up any words and wasn’t quoted out of context. He said something he didn’t fully think through that was very sexist and I’m absolutely certain that wasn’t the intent but was definitely what he said. It was still a screw up and should be reported as such. Media isn’t at fault here guys. It’s Jameis.

  24. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Poor Glennon. You are completely oblivious, and you have your head in the sand if you think that anything he’s done in his time in the Bucs suggests that he has character concerns.

Jameis was the victim of a media smear campaign, after being the victim of false allegations of a Harlot. The lunch room incident? He was just meme-ing with his friends. The Crab-legs incident? It is widely believed that local Publix’s tend to help out struggling college athletes. And FSU was on a massive win-streak so they were showing him love, and some tattle tale ruined it. Throw that it in with the BB gun incident, and it all boiled down to immaturity.

And Jameis has been nothing but the consummate pro for us. And this foul attempt by the media to shame him for poor word choice is disgusting.

  25. R.O. Says:

23 yr old kid.. Not a professional speaker. Going off Script if he had one at all. Sports writers are not the Social Morality Police. Although they think they are. They have to manufacture news. Which is what this is.. Manufactured news. PG you’re an idiot.. “Questionable Character” who are you? Thats you’re opinion. not facts. You have no idea the true nature of someones character. And if you actually listen to it you’d probably understand what he was trying to convey. But the comprehension level of most people now is so poor because they can’t read more than 120 characters at once and doesn’t included emoji’s.

  26. R.O. Says:

Tired of this crap.. He’s a 23 yr old kid. Not a professional Motivational speaker. Move on. Manufactured news because Sports writers and Sports outlets need other things to report on rather than splashing Scores on a screen. They are sports writers/reporters for a reason… and it was quite obvious what he meant. That Girls aren’t supposed to be loud mouthed obnoxious @ssholes like boys are. Is that clear enough?

  27. Lpao22 Says:

Most, this was a 40 minute speech, not a 10 second blurb. It’s not fair to cherry pick one word out of a 40 minute speech and use that to conclude this was sexist.

  28. Avejoe Says:

All of that immaturity not coming from a super star athlete would land people in jail or expelled. Like I said, society needs to quit giving free passes to athletes.

  29. BKNYfootballhead Says:

Again. There’s nothing fake about the article written, saying otherwise is riduculous. For naysayers, provide evidence of the “fake” in it. There is none. You’ll find sensationalism, but you won’t find anything needing correction or retraction.

  30. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ avejoe

What’s the “pass”? Winston didn’t do anything illegal. Sorry he hurt your feelings, but he’s not going to receive punishment for saying something silly.

  31. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ avejoe

“Land in jail” ? You’re grasping big time

  32. Blake_bucsfan Says:

It’s a fake premise because the cherry picked one 45 second quote out of a 40 minute speech. And as many have pointed out, it was largely out of context.

If you were to watch the actual moment that the fake news media is trying to construe a largely harmless message, as this horrible sexist comment meant tear down the young girls he was talking to.

It sucks. And its total bs.

  33. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    Blake

You just destroyed your message by using the tools of the pathological liar.

I worked in a TV newsroom for more than a decade. The people I worked with were as motivated, honest, and hard working as any cop, fireman, teacher..take your pick…just leave out politicians and definitely leave out rich kids who inherited all their wealth from daddy…blew it then found an accountant to recoup ONE BILLION of it from we the taxpayers.

Fake news? Alternate facts. WTF is wrong with this country. One man is REPEATEDLY caught in demonstrable lies…pictures show how many were at his inaugural…history shows the % of electoral college votes each of the Presidents received. When someone clearly says up is down and 1 is 10 and 2+2=7 it’s not FAKE NEWS to ACCURATELY report the freaking FACTS.

As for #3….this is much ado about nothing. The story was never that big and we are just helping blow it totally out of proportion. We all know where #3’s heart is…he’s fine and will be fine this is much ado about nothing…both in terms of #3 and the response to the story. It’s no big effing deal!!!

  34. Blake_bucsfan Says:

@Stpete, It was joke brother. Jesus. I was only memeing.

  35. Blake_bucsfan Says:

And Stpete, I’ve seen you talk about the massive drop-off in the quality of modern day journalism before.

I am not a trump supporter. Like I said I was on the Bernie train.

I just think the way he words his tweets are hilarious. And ripe for satire.

  36. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ Lpao22

Clearly you’re the one with “hurt feelings”. You can’t decide a story is “fake news” because it doesn’t seem fair to you.

  37. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    From the article:

“Maybe in today’s political climate some want to rationalize that we’re being too touchy, too uptight. So go to our website. Watch the video. Decide for yourself. But what we cannot know is how the children in that room took Winston’s message.”

Wake up a smell the bacon you “fake news” betas

  38. BKNYfootballhead Says:

Nothing “fake” is being pushed here. Toughen and wisen up people

  39. BKNYfootballhead Says:

Last, the real issue here might be Jameis pushing “god” in a public school. It’s a slippery slope

  40. LakeLandBuc Says:

Is this still news? Lol…only in America

  41. Blake_bucsfan Says:

BkNy you feel the way you do. But what is suspect to me. Is that I’ve yet to see one of these pusillanimous quims reference what actually occurred in that moment of the speech.

He was going through his quote ” rules of life. ” And he had come to number 3. ” I can do anything I put my mind to. ” A message being sent to every boy and girl in the crowd. He noticed a lot of the young men in the group were maybe a little disinterested. So He decided to attempt to rouse the crowd, and gain there attention by having them stand up, speak up, and say ” I can do anything I put my mind to. ”

Keep in mind that a lot of these young men do not have fathers at home, and they don’t have a strong presence in their lives to help mold them, and guide them, and to tell them that they truly can go as far as their dedication and hard take them.

Simply substitute be “silent”, or delete it from the sentence, and this is a non story. Just a poor choice of words taken out of context.

So what the media are doing is only pointing out what could be construed as a negative message, when in reality it wasn’t.

  42. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    *dedication and Hardwork*

  43. PanthersSuck! Says:

Shame on the lowlife IDIOT that made this into a story! He also said they should be polite and gentle. Should I not tell young that they should open doors for ladies? What is wrong with people? How about saying “Thank you Jamies for being a good role model and putting yourself out there for these kids”?

  44. stopthemadness Says:

Avejoe you sound like a SJW. Did your snowflake ears melt a little when your heard Jameis’ quote?

  45. TBTeddy Says:

@Ben he yelled out a popular joke that at the time. F**k her in the Pu$$y was basically a meme by that time. Just a young jock being funny regular we cant have double standards for pro athletes. Have you ever been to a sports bar?

  46. USFBUC Says:

Guys this is not sexist he was making fun of the boys for being quiet and soft spoken. I know the really weak people here will be enraged but it’s the same as saying to your friend that he throws like a girl, dunks a basketball like a girl, etc.

  47. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    Blake, read the article again.

That info you say isn’t being spoke of is in the article itself. He even “quotes” Jameis speaking of it.

I feel like a crumby sportswriter wrote a sensational story for the reader’s to form their own objective opinion of a factual quote from the Bay areas most famous athlete. There’s nothing fake about it.

  48. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Bro, Obviously I’m not talking about Joe. Joe isn’t the one making a big stink about it.

  49. Eric Says:

    Way to go rock star.

The kid was just trying to get the males in the class to pay attention to his very good message.

Like there is some danger the girls hearing that they should be silent and gentle was going to have the slightest effect.

Its very clear what this is all about, media payback against Jameis for the false narrative about more rapes in college and whatnot, and anger they didn’t send him up the river for those super flimsy allegations that were made that the police and prosecution did not believe – for very good reason.

This exposes the media for their idiocy than anything about Jameis Winston, who has been a perfect gentleman and great spokesman for the Bucs since drafted. Much to the chagrin of many just itching for him to fail.

  50. d-roca Says:

    Avejoe.
You raise your girls not the athletes. People in all walks of life are getting free passes too. Just not in the news. You hear his whole speech or just commenting on fhe few words reported? Dont let jameis raise ur kids if u dont want. Thats ur right. Personally all he is to me is the qb of my favorite team. N id take him over the other 31. Go jameis go bucs

  51. Mike Johnson Says:

We all know what Jameis was trying to say. The man was telling the little boys to be strong. HE in no way meant to dehumanize women. Thats whats become of society. WE all gotta be politically correct. That why I’m a Registered Independent. And besides, the great Kahuna in the sky made women smarter anyways to compensate for our…thinking with the wrong head a lot. And if You..are sexually attracted to women who have bulging biceps, walk and talk like men? Then hell, you might as well..date men..Just sayin.

  52. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I may take some heat on this….but it’s simply my opinion……Jameis is still very young, unsophisticated, and has some difficulty communicating his thoughts at times.
I would predict this won’t be the last time he stumbles with the wrong words. The good news is that his heart and his actions are in the right place. His entire body of work will get him off the hook.

  53. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ USFBUC

I see more pu $$ywillows with hurt feelings thinking it wasn’t a sexist comment. Yes, it was absolutely a sexist comment, but it’s up for debate the intent. I’d like to think most can see it as unintentional like myself, but you can better believe it offended somebody present. That’s a fact, not fake.
It’s sad people can’t be objective to both sides and take it for themselves to decide which the article leaves the reader.

  54. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ Blake

I’m not talking about Joe either, I’m talking about the article Jones wrote.

  55. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ TBBF

No kidding. Jameis speaks bama country bump, plain and simple. It doesn’t mean he lacks intelligence, just communication skills. He could use an assist to craft his message better, and that’ll come with more experience. Most people know he’s a straight up good dude, but people can rightfully hold him to his words and past mistakes, he owns them.

  56. Buc1987 Says:

    Again… be more like Sapp.

Just don’t give pep talks and help others out.

  57. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    TBBF

Exactly!!! He’s a football player not a philosopher. But we can all see from his actions and his heart he is a good KID.

It’s not his fault…as I said yesterday it’s our own fault as society for being such celebrity whores. Being great at a sport, or acting, or singing and dancing has NOTHING to do with being a great well educated thinker. They are not mutually exclusive but they are not found in combination very frequently.

If we pay THAT much attention to ANY celebrity we’re going to hear some strange stuff.

At least #3 is not flat out ignorant. How about Kyrie Irving…a kid supposedly smart enough to get into Duke…yeah they hold those high standards for hoop players right? He claimed he won’t be fooled by “fake news”…he knows the world is flat. Just freaking amazing…the world is flat…a fellow NBA player backed up Irving by saying he’s entitled to his opinion. The world has gone freaking crazy with “alternate facts”.

As the man once said….yes you are entitled to your OPINION but not your own FACTS. The world is demonstrably NOT FLAT…anyone who holds that opinion is at best totally uneducated and ignorant…at worst…a MORON!!!

  58. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ Mike Johnson

To each their own. That last sentence is ignorance. Genetics aren’t the only measure of attraction or love, nor is gender attraction decided by appearance. Jacked dudes like jacked woman, I see it at my gym all the time. F@t @ $$e$ tend to like f@t @ $$e$, I see it everywhere in America.

  59. Defense Rules Says:

@Lpao22 … “It’s not fair to cherry pick one word out of a 40 minute speech and use that to conclude this was sexist.” Fair? Seriously? Cherry-picking is a way of life in today’s reporting, and maybe always has been for all I know. Why do you think politicians say pretty close to nothing when asked questions? Yup, it’s the easiest thing in the world for a reporter (or anyone else) to grab onto 1 or 2 words or phrases and use them out of context. Fairness went out the window a long time ago when it comes to reporting what public figures do and say. Jameis got caught up in a poor choice of words and reporter (?) Tom Jones saw his opening to capitalize on it. I applaud Jameis to taking his valuable time to talk with those youngsters and I hope that he continues to do that. I’m sure that he’s learned a valuable lesson from all this. Just as sure that Tom Jones most likely won’t be getting much in the way of interviews from Bucs players in the future.

  60. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    Hahahhahahahahahahaha

Heck yeah Stpete, Kyrie Killed me with that crap! Did you see Stefon Diggs tweets? They’re incredibly snarky and super hilarious.

    http://thebiglead.com/2017/02/18/stefon-diggs-apparently-shares-kyrie-irvings-flat-earth-beliefs/

  61. Buc1987 Says:

“But we can all see from his actions and his heart he is a good KID.”

StPete…who’s “we”? As in you and me? Yes we can. Not so with everyone though, and bs like this doesn’t help. He said he’s still going to try to help others. He’s young so I guess he has to take his lumps. I myself even outside the box found nothing wrong what-so-ever with what he said. Cause I can hear what his intentions were. Not so with everyone though.

They hear how they want to hear. It’s all utter NONSENSE to me!

  62. Buc1987 Says:

What are you wearing? Brad from State Farm…

  63. USFBUC Says:

@ Brooklyn New York – not sexist, I guarantee you that you have said plenty that the weak would call some form of insert ism.

I’ll give you an example of when I was in high school. I was a junior camp counselor because I thought it would be cool to help little kids. I actually got written up for calling them little kids because the woman in charge was one of these SJW. In her small mind calling an eight year old little guy made them feel less. At the end of the summer the kids loved me and couldn’t stand her because she was a nazi. You know that she actually tried to get me a volunteer, who wasn’t paid, fired for calling them little kids. These are the type of people who complain about little things like this.

If Jameis had said all my girls need to know their role and stay at home raising children and making cakes then sure let’s chastise him but in this case this shouldn’t have even made the news.

  64. Lpao22 Says:

    Exactly buc1987, Blake,

It’s not worth debating with these people. They hear what they want to hear and scour the news every day for something new to take out of context and blow out of proportion to what fits their agenda. They want to make everyone villains that says Remotely anything that isn’t politically correct. We should take it upon ourselves to take the highroad and enjoy this beautiful Saturday afternoon.

    Cheers fellas!!

  65. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ lpao22

“It’s not worth debating with these people”

Why isn’t it? Nobody should buy that line of thinking. Debate is what brings us together.

  66. Buc1987 Says:

    BKNY….that’s why. Once again…

“They hear how they want to hear. It’s all utter NONSENSE to me!”

Do you think you could change my mind?

  67. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ USF

You better believe people hold me to my words. I cough, sneeze, pi $$, and $(-)!T Rated R professionally.

  68. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @87

GOD NO! You’re admittingly embedded in a line of thinking on the furthest side of spectrum.

Yet, discussion and debate allows others to formulate opinion.

  69. USFBUC Says:

@Brooklyn this is a great example of my point here although I disagree with it. People are tired of everything thing they do or say being analyzed. That’s why you have people like lpao22 coming to the conclusion that debate isn’t worth it anymore. In the scheme of things Winston’s actions are meaningless and the people upset over it are the weak who latch on to the first thing they can to bash another person.

  70. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ USF

Bingo. Which is weak thought one in the same. It’s bigotry

  71. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    Seriously, Joe

I can’t use the word big OT???

  72. Kevinthepainterimagine Says:

Avejoe you are a frieking morron. Watch the video read the full deal. Its was taken out of context. Dummies like you are willing to blow uo something so small and.make it more than waht it is….yet when you are presented with all the good he has done and effort he puts into the community you crawl back into your libtard shells. Shut up

  73. Buccaneer scotty Says:

I agree with what he said! Women’s lib has wrecked this country men should be men and women should be women taking care of their families and their children and their husbands and their household. Nobody wants to do their job men don’t want to be men and women don’t want to be women and everyone gets a freaking trophy

  74. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ USF

The “tired of hearing” crowd are swimming in big otry. They are too weak to debate with the PC crowd who are more willing to voice your complaints. It’s a double-edged sword and both have that steel so far up their a $$e$ the handles been lost.

  75. Jerrydix Says:

America’s quarterback. Not in reality. America’s quarterback hahahahahahahahahahaha.

  76. USFBUC Says:

What he said wasn’t sexist because he did not intend it to be sexist. And I already know what you are thinking, “but other people’s perception is their reality”. This line of thinking though doesn’t take into account twisted realities that some have. Just because I say the sky is red doesn’t make it a fact. My twisted perception may make the sky red in my mind but the sky is in fact blue. As far as I know we have no other instances we can refer to in order to back up a claim that Winston is sexist. Additionally, when we look at the overall message and even that brief part of the message we can see that he had a positive message he was trying to get across. Seeing the positive does require people to take off their everything is xxxx-ist/ism glasses though.

  77. Buc1987 Says:

BKNY…prolly cause the “tired of hearing it” crowd has already heard enough nonsense for the past 16 or so years. Most people are set in their opinions and beliefs. I get your point though. Debate is healthy, but to me it depends on the topic, the subject, or the particular person your dealing with. Stubborn people can be fun though so I hear ya. I have to be in the right mood though with a few in me most of the time. I like to read all viewpoints most of the time, but usually I form my own opinion and back up the other posters that are similar to mine.

Brooklyn – I’m not sure that your statement is true. There are plenty of people who are tired of debating that are not bigots. My wife loved to debate with people, she would spend time reading up on issues and make her argument, then wait for the counter to post her response. She has stopped because the extreme left now default to you’re a bigot any time their position is questioned and they cannot argue against the facts.

  79. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Just saw on sports illustrated that Albert brier from mmqb and some woman all hyped up on women’s right said that JW3 shouldn’t be a franchise QB and that he doesn’t respect women. I just cancelled my SI subscription.

  80. Khoge Says:

Tom Jones is a tool. Enough said. Go bucs

  81. USFBUC Says:

Brooklyn – I was enjoying this debate until that comment. Your position of people swimming in bigotry is not conducive to debate. I will not debate anyone who makes all inclusive statements about any other group because of their personally held beliefs, race, religion, sex, etc. It is one thing to say another commenter’s position is weak but to call that person a bigot because they don’t want to debate is wrong. Beyond being wrong it is impossible for you to know if one is or is not a bigot in this scenario.

  82. cmurda Says:

Ignore the media. Jameis is just the Donald Trump of the NFL. If Trup does something that is unequivocally positive, then the story is ignored and unreported. However, if Trump does or says anything that can be construed negatively, the media which we all know is extremely liberal will crucify the man. The same goes for Jameis even though he’s given the media no reason to hate on him. It’s sad and pathetic but you can thank the evil media machine for pushing their own agenda.

  83. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Dang joe you just delete my post like that? There was no swearing or anything. Idk what the problem was

  84. USFBUC Says:

ME GOAT – I think the site had an issue or Joe stopped all comments.

  85. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Well the post was about Albert brier from mmqb and him along with another woman from Sports illustrated saying that JW3 shouldn’t be considered a franchise QB because of his out of context comment. I have just cancelled my SI subscription

  86. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Comment deleted again WTF JO

  87. Fred E. Buc Says:

My mama always said, “Don’t say anything bad about anyone.” That said, Tom Jones is the worst sportswriter this town has ever had. I have argued with him many times on the air, before he was fired from WDAE. He is condescending and usually wrong. Bizarre was seeing him and Rick Stroud LAUGH over and over about a college kid hit on his bicyle. Jones paused and said “Wait, we shouldn’t be laughing for we don’t know how badly he’s hurt.” Then they both started laughing again. He wrote hit piece after hit piece about Jameis before and soon after he was drafted, and stopped abruptly. I’d bet the Bucs or his own employer warned him. Jones seems to have a man-crush on Joe Buck that makes me puke. He writes about Joe from to time, when franky, no one cares. Remember guys like Tom McEwen? Man, we miss that guy. Now we have Jones and Stroud and Auman and Fennelly. Awful. TGFJBF. Thank God for Joes Bucs Fan (another thing that Jones doesn’t like).

  88. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Sports illustrated and Albert brier of MMQB said that JW3 shouldn’t be a franchise QB because of what he said out of context

  89. Fred E. Buc Says:

Tom Jones NEVER went to One Buc Palace yet constantly wrote crappy negative articles on our Bucs. One day Stroud told him on the air he needed to get out and start talking to people. This was after he wrote an article suggesting Greg Schinao rigged the team captain vote against Josh Freeman, and then accused Schiano of lying about it. With no proof, no clue what was going on with Josh. Jones seems like the type that sits behind his computer and judges people. One telling thing about him was Stroud (who I also don’t care for) asked on him air why he didn’t go to the dinner honoring Ronde Barber. Ronde Freaking Barber folks! Jones replied he had better things to do. What? He said he said at home alone (his family was out) and made a giant steak for himself and ate it. That folks, kind of sums up Tom Jones. Jameis deserves better stuff than he’s gotten from Jones and TBT. TGFJBF.

  90. Tnew Says:

I feel really stupid. The entire time I thought this was a Rick Stroud piece. Tom Jones is not a journalist. btw. I love the way espn reported this in that piece. Defending him is a big step forward and displays the progress that he has made with his image.

  91. Fred E. Buc Says:

Avejoe…he did not tell girls to sit down and shut up. Guys like you that make stuff up are worse than the guys who say the occasional dumb thing. I will say Jameis was wrong to say females should be “silent” and polite and all that…but the worst he did was stereotype. Are you a pubic figure who has every moved watched by the media? Yes or no, have you ever said something that didn’t come out the right way when you were 23 years old? 15? 18? 30? 35? 50? Chill out dude.

  92. James Walker Says:

    No good deed goes unpunished.

  93. BigHogHaynes Says:

This will only be used as fuel for the fire! As we continue to Build A Wall!! But not in Mexico…dumb ass!

  94. K-mac Says:

First off lets remember jamies is still a kid and hes doing all this good like i hate how any little wrong thing a guy says gets blown up. he was just trying to get the boys to be loud and generally speaking boys are louder then women boys are more rugged then woman. girls are princesses there not loud and dumb like us boys

  95. unbelievable Says:

    I support building a wall…. in front of JW3.

Tom Jones is a hack, is this really news to anyone?

  96. Fire the glazers Says:

Mark dominik is an idiot… he’s also a push over. Lost a ton of respect for him at a fund raiser while he was still our GM. None of the former players attending seemed to respect him along with Tampa media. I don’t take any stock in his “opinion” and nor should anyone else.

  97. Mike Johnson Says:

BKNY..Good for you. You can have those bodybuilding types. You probably love men too!! I’m from the real south. We love fine, good looking PHAT women. Who know how to be..women. I’m just proud my folk taught me…the real bible and what it is to be a real man. And my(blood) sisters to be..real women

  98. BuccaneEric75 Says:

ESPN sticking up for Winston? It’s about damn time!

  99. Papa578 Says:

You know, when I looked at Jameis’ conduct since being drafted, I see someone that I am proud of as he plays and represents the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He gives it his all on the field. He shows up early to work and then leaves late to go home, NOT clubbing! He is a young man who could easily get drawn in to the “club scene” but had chosen not to.
He has been a model citizen. No trouble with the law or women since his draft. He is heavily involved in community events while representing the Buccaneers. I for one am proud of him. He came in to the league with baggage and has handled it well. Ok, so he misspoke or, his upbringing lead him to his statement that doesn’t fit today’s narrative. I believe in this young mans heart. I do not believe he intended to offend anyone. He could be anywhere in the world right now and he chose to be working with our youth, trying to be a positive role model they so desperately need. Jameis deserves a mulligan on this deal and he deserves our respect as buc fans. Way back in1978, I worked off duty at Tampa Sadium on a rainy Sunday and I got to know Mr. Selmon and Richard “Batman” Wood. I fell in love with those guys and through them, the entire organization.
To all true Buc fans, support our quarterback. No matter the bumps in the road, he loves his team, the community and us fans. We will win with Jameis and we will be proud of him. Is he perfect?..no. Are we?.. no. We are all just working thru this a day at a time. Lets cut him some slack and be thankful that he is leading our Bucs.

  100. Artemis Rand Says:

You want to know what is SAD ?

That idiot GM we had and what he did to the Bucs.

    Now THAT was depressing!

  101. Artemis Rand Says:

Let me put it to you this way fellow Bucs fans:

I would value the opinion of Tom Jones the singer before I would this hack so-called writer….

  102. Wausa Says:

Chris Baker and Tom Jones of the Times both continue to promote a racist slant

  103. Bobby A. Says:

Avajoe, Jameis was not saying that women should “shut up and take a back seat”. He was suggesting they be “soft-spoken and ladylike” (as opposed to “loud and obnoxious”); which they absolutely should. You, as a father, should get this. He made a poor word choice; that’s all. What society REALLY needs to do is stop being judgmental, and try to understand someone’s true intentions rather than continuing to crucify them based on past transgressions. People like you are part of the REAL problem.

  104. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

Perhaps the stupidest non-controversy ever reported as a controversy. Good freaking grief. Our society has really grown weak, as exemplified by Tom “time to pay Josh whatever he wants” Jones.

  105. JGA Says:

All you SJW’s need to get over yourselves. I realize you don’t have any real perspective of the world as it is today, but this article is another shining example of you twisting the intent to support your own narrative.

America is fed up with this never ending barrage of PC and you saw the result of it last November. The famous saying ” No good deed goes unpunished,” should be your mantra.

Oh, and both my daughters saw the entire video and just shook their heads at all the backlash against that young man. They are both in college and understand the difference between intent and context.
