Kill The Choreography, Mike
February 6th, 2017Joe hates typing this, but Roger Goodell has forced Joe’s hand and Mike Evans and America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, need to wake up.
The grand lesson of last night’s Super Bowl is that every play matters. So the Bucs certainly shouldn’t take a senseless penalty for no good reason.
Choreographed touchdown celebrations with teammates are not permitted under NFL rules, one of the all-time stupid NFL policies. However, Jameis and Evans have been doing just that under the radar.
During an interview at the Pro Bowl with teen-girl obsession Jacob Bertrand of Kirby Buckets on Disney HD, Evans explained the celebration seen in the photo above — and one it was been seen multiple times last season — is a secret post-TD celebration.
They’re both shooting a [basketball] layup, Evans explained when asked about his favorite celebration. “But you gotta finesse it and you got to be careful because the league might think it’s [something not permitted],” he said.
Sorry, guys, but it’s time to kill this fun. It’s not allowed.
Evans let the cat out of the bag on a national scale. Joe can’t just pretend it didn’t happen. This is every bit as dump as Austin Seferian-Jenkins’ Captain Morgan routine.
Frankly, Joe is a little surprised at Jameis and Evans. Why risk it?
For the record, don’t blame Joe for writing this. Blame the NFL for its no-fun rule.

Took a post super bowl morning ASJ in the toilet this morning.
February 6th, 2017 at 10:09 am
I don’t think the refs would call that one. It’s quick and harmless, and it doesn’t mock the other team.
I say use it until the refs say something.
And besides…it’s from a TD. Not like it costs us points.
February 6th, 2017 at 10:11 am
Joe, maybe you should message Mike Piera (spelling?) and ask him if it would be a penalty. Might even get you a chance at an interview. 🙂
February 6th, 2017 at 10:29 am
I agree but not for the reason you stated. They should stop for no other reason than the fact that they stole that celebration from Cam Newton and company. You can’t be copying a division rival. It’s as pathetic as rooting for a division rival to win the SB.
February 6th, 2017 at 10:36 am
I wasn’t aware God’s last name was D@mn…
February 6th, 2017 at 10:51 am
Pit, check YOUR computer; no problems here. You might want to switch your spell-checker to a different dictionary at the same time.
February 6th, 2017 at 10:53 am
Do it anyway.
February 6th, 2017 at 10:55 am
Is that any different than players doing the body bump celebration? I think not…moving on
February 6th, 2017 at 11:02 am
Do it till it’s flagged. I hope they dunk it sometime too
February 6th, 2017 at 11:11 am
If Cam and co. can do stupid dabs and such, Jameis and Mike can do this.
February 6th, 2017 at 11:23 am
I’ll tell what Joe I wouldn’t mind if they got a penalty while doing it IN THE SUPERBOWL!IF THEY DO IT ITS CAUSE THEY SCORED!
February 6th, 2017 at 11:38 am
@ dcbuc
Exactly!!! There is abosolutely no difference when multiple players chest bump than what evans and jameis does. I mean they did it 12 times this year and not one official flagged them. Joe you are reaching here. The nfl is talking dance routines ie the dirty birds dance etc. You saw mccoy and kwon get a penalty because it seemed they were doing the same dance after a mccoy sack. Stop reaching. Jameis and evans are safe.
February 6th, 2017 at 11:57 am
Other than the repeated defensive holding calls against Atlanta, both teams last night were disciplined. I do not recall one false start penalty. The Patriots are what every team should strive for.
February 6th, 2017 at 12:13 pm
I traded ASJ to the Browns in Madden 16 for a 3rd. 2 game weeks later he was on their trade block…. hah!!
February 6th, 2017 at 12:18 pm
I have to agree with Joe…one play can mean the season, even if it’s a bogus penalty. Don’t forget the bogus call on Winslow in the Bucs-Lions that made the Bucs end 10-6 (no playoffs) vice 11-5 (would have gone at least). ONE PLAY. ONE CALL. ONE DUMB MOVE. No, don’t keep doing it til it’s called. That’s dumb as he11. Stop it now. Now, what would be cool is to head up some type of NFL fans petition allowing say, 15 seconds post TD for a team to celebrate (without taunting or disrespect to the opponent, fans, or game). Let them dance, choreagraph their azzes off. For 15 seconds. I like to see the enthusiasm. Get an e-petition going, get folks from all around the league to sign it, and get Goodsmell to change the rules.
February 6th, 2017 at 12:59 pm
It literally is the equivalent of them doing a jumping high five or jumping chest bump. Not with you on this until the NFL actually says they can’t do it Joe.
February 6th, 2017 at 1:02 pm
Oh and 😂 @Bird that made me chuckle
February 6th, 2017 at 1:04 pm
Blame the NFL for its no-fun rule.
Sorry…call me old school but I disagree. Perhaps you can partially blame the NFL but TO and his ilk deserve as much blame as the NFL. Exuberance is one thing…choreographed crap is BORING!!! But when it gets to extremes like TO…hiding a freaking cell phone in the goal posts…running onto the Dallas Star…it’s called BUSH LEAGUE!!!
Again Bob Trump a great TE for the Bengals when Paul Brown still coached told a great story. Spiking the ball had just begun in the league..Brown and the old school guys hated it…Trump scored and spiked the ball. Brown came up to Trump on the bench and leaned in and said…next time you score act like you’ve been there before.
There NEEDS to be some limit…what about those of us who watch for football and not some “fun bunch” gathering to show off their dancing skills.
So perhaps a time limit on celebrations….no taunting…NO PROPS…I certainly do not mind ME and #3’s jump shot or Cam’s dap…but after awhile this crap becomes extraneous to the game. And I love exuberance…when Brandy Chastain pulled her top off it was a genuine spontaneous expression…if you let dudes like ODB get carried away it becomes just a sideshow generally dedicated to THEIR massive egos.

The Bucs have one of the great TD celebrates in the history of the league with the synchronized Nestea plunge, it was great. I just don’t get so called men who like sports who don’t like trash talking and don’t like celebrations. Stop saying boring stuff like “act like you’ve been there before.” No, the NFL is an entertainment product, so entertain.
February 6th, 2017 at 1:40 pm
Oh wait, I was wondering what kind of bore doesn’t like celebrations and trash talking… and then I read the comments above mine.
February 6th, 2017 at 1:45 pm
@ stpete
I was taught and still believe if you do not want them to celebrate which is “dedicated to their massive egos,” then you do not let them score. Its as simple as that.
February 6th, 2017 at 1:48 pm
Because Rod here’s a clue. It’s YOUR freaking opinion not fact. For example I do not get girlie men who have to shoot off their mouths instead of simply playing the game. The greatest NFL player of all time Jimmy Brown NEVER felt the need to shoot of his mouth. Talk is cheap Rod. Are you cheap?
Oh I could add to that list…so Rod you were bored by Barry Sanders…Joe Montana…Reggie White…
Men who shoot their mouths off are just covering their inadequecies generally intelletual but sometimes a little south of the border if you get my drift.
February 6th, 2017 at 2:07 pm
@ stpete
Both styles in sports have been succesful. Larry bird and jordan are known as the biggest trash talkers. Michael irvin and deion sanders. No need to bash either style.
February 6th, 2017 at 2:35 pm
Personally. I liked Billy White Shoes Johnson and Elmo Wright, the originators of celebration. Who does it personally hurt on the field? There never has been a fight because of celebrations. It’s just Goodell tight ass trying to control the plsyers. And as far as trash talk St Pete, I loved the clip where Jack Lambert levels Tony Dorsett and says, ” That’ll slow your a..s down.
February 6th, 2017 at 2:41 pm
Again I do not mind exuberance…it’s the choreographed crap that bores me.
I was just raised differently. I was always taught if you have to blow your own horn the praise is meaningless…if the praise comes from others then it has validity.
It’s like I could come on here everyday and say…I’m the best poster here…I am the smartest…nobody touches me…yadda..yadda…that would be meaningless…but if JBF had a poll of all the posters and I was declared the best that would have some meaning….I’m sure I’m not a contender…LMAO…so the only way I CAN be the best poster is simply call myself that….but geez that means anybody here can proclaim themselves the best poster.
February 6th, 2017 at 2:56 pm
We get it Stpete – You’re a boring guy who drives a minivan who doesn’t like that other people don’t have your life and don’t have to be PC bores. You probably think “mancave” is an edgy and cool thing to say and we know you think football is a serious business – but it’s not, its entertainment. The 2002 Bucs were one of the biggest trash talking teams of all time, yet they still had a place for people like Brooks and Lynch. However since both players would tell you how good they are, hey now, that’s getting tooo edgy, lets calm it down a bit.
Trash talking is fun, it really is. If you’re not a PC bore who gets fake offended by things then you’d know this. Also for the NFL it was self policing. There was good trash talking but if it went to far the players took care of it. If you’re going to start your TD celebration 30 yards from the endzone then someone from the other team might take some liberties with hitting you after you were in the endzone – and as the trash talker you knew this so you, as Sapp said, kept your head on a swivel. Between that and the balance of good guys and bad guys on your team, it was a game of rock-paper-scissors, and it was great.
Then people like you came along demanding that everyone eat their toast plain, that no one drives fast in the fast lane, that the “hot” flavor of hot wings actually be mild.
That’s you. You’re a bore.
February 6th, 2017 at 3:24 pm
Stpetebucsfan is truly the best poster on JBF this year so far…..there you have from the best poster last year!!!
February 6th, 2017 at 5:53 pm
Act like you’ve been there before…How bout dat?!?!
February 6th, 2017 at 6:10 pm
Muhommad ali how dare you???? Tooting your own horn. You were not great at all because you tooted your own horn and did not allow others to do it first. Your place in history has been changed.
February 6th, 2017 at 8:51 pm
Coming from a erudite well rounded educated man like you Rod that really hurts.
But then you are a keyboard badarse…bwahhhaaaahaaa
February 6th, 2017 at 8:53 pm
BTW Rod since you’re obviously incredibly slow on the uptake a little computer/internet advice. You have a scroll wheel or a touch screen to roll by the “boring” posts.
I do not expect ANYBODY to read my posts. If they do it’s their choice and if they don’t it’s their choice…I’m cool with either.
But what always amuses me is how people come here and blast Joe or any poster for being boring…LMAO…duh…why do people read what bores them? Whose responsibility is that anyway?
February 6th, 2017 at 10:18 pm
None of these fancy celebrations hold a candle to the “Act like you’ve been there before” routine that Mike Alstott mastered.
February 7th, 2017 at 1:33 am
St Pete – I doze off when I read your posts, I can feel my life slipping away.
As for this “been there before” act – that’s fine for some, but for others I want to see big celebrations. I’m not the one saying to outlaw and silence people – you are, because like most minivan drivers you think your opinion is the only one that counts because it’s the most safe, or as everyone else says boring.
February 7th, 2017 at 7:43 am
I love minivans, man caves, and coreographed celebrations. Off seasons are boring.
February 7th, 2017 at 5:35 pm
Is anyone “entertained” by this celebration? Show of hands, please…
