Glennon Missing, And A New Glennon Rumbling
February 2nd, 2017Joe has listened to endless NFL chatter from all over the country since Friday, day and night — on radio and in person with important NFL people in Orlando and in Houston.
Nobody is talking about Mike Glennon.
How could this be? In December, Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen were telling the nation Glennon could fetch up to $15 million per season in free agency?
Heck, Joe’s wondering why Glennon himself isn’t making the rounds on Radio Row at the Super Bowl this week. He’s nowhere to be found. Any quarterback looking to show teams he’s the potential face of a franchise should be there proving he has a personality and can connect with fans and media.
Glennon either needs a new agent or he’s not interested.
Remember, Glennon told JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman in January — in detail — that he wants to test the free agency market.
The one feint rumbling for Glennon Joe could find is coming from the Arizona Cardinals’ official website, where writer Darren Urban is playing the most popular game in the desert: “What if Carson Palmer retires now?”
Joe has never believed Glennon would find a team looking to make him their starting quarterback and, so far, this week has reaffirmed that belief.
Joe would not bet against a Glennon return to Tampa, where the Bucs can give him the charmed, well-paid life of a backup for several years.

Glennon isn’t starting caliber and 99% of people know that. the 1% are the analysts claiming about a month ago that he could rake in 13-15 million a year. Pffft.
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:02 pm
I would love for glennon to come back….as well as conte….but I think both think they are starters in this league and want a chance to “be the guy”….
I think glennon lands somewhere, becomes a starter and provides his team with slightly better qb play than the year before….I think conte lands somewhere and wishes he stayed in the 813!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:04 pm
The Bucs just signed Ex-Falcon backup QB (Sean Renfree) to a future contract. I believe he is a lot better than Glennon and a whole lot cheaper.
You do realize Renfree was unemployed last season? –Joe
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:06 pm
Maybe he has a black eye or something that he doesn’t want everyone to see?
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:09 pm
I think Glennon is better than Brock Osweiler.
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:12 pm
I would love to see Glennon start for a team that plays the Bucs next year so we can have an automatic W on the schedule

+1!
I seriously could give 2 sh1ts about retaining MG. He isn’t a guy that gives me any more confidence than any other NFL backup QB – maybe like a top 16 backup QB? Im not even sure
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:15 pm
Glennon will be fine. I was impressed with his moxie on the road in Pitt and Seattle, he had zero support early, no training camp, no real OC, then Lovie refused to have him even compete for the job. Time for him to move on. I think he starts somewhere next year. By the way, Carson Palmer just sold his house in AZ.
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:15 pm
I think there will be no mad dash by any team to sign Glennon. For crying out loud we had him and couldn’t wait to draft a real starting caliber QB. A team in a pinch like AZ might be in if Palmer were to retire might bring him in. He would be a 1-2 solution to try and hold the team together until they drafted a real QB. I don’t think anyone will look to Glennon as a real long term solution and therefore I don’t see a big contract coming his way.
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:34 pm
I never thought MG would get the money totals that have been mentioned. Years of hanging around here or anywhere warrant that pay? He has not played here much, actually very little, so who’s to know his overall ability at this point. To infer that he has shown nothing resembling an NFL QB is laughable. Then again, nobody seems to be beating down the Bucs door to have him. Crickets chirping is annoying.
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:38 pm
you guys are trippin about glennon. dude is a decent qb. i know i feel confident that we could still win games if something happend to jamies.he should get a shot somewhere and get paid well doing it.
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:40 pm
Lovie may have been the worst pro personnel director Joe has ever seen. For guys who played in the NFL, Lovie was clueless evaluating their talent.
College kids, OK. NFL players, hey, when drunks in a bar know better, that’s pretty sad.
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:43 pm
Brock f-uped the game. Teams will never reach like that again for a backup. That being said, he can kick rocks, sorry not sorry, he sucks
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:51 pm
In a league that employs starting quarterback’s such as cutler, osweiler, fitzpatrick, kaepernick, tannehil, and whoever they trot out in buffalo, I think Glennon should get one more shot to see what he can do starting some games.
February 2nd, 2017 at 12:59 pm
I realize I’m a Glennon fan and all, but to those of you who think he’s no better than any other backup QB the Bucs could get, please remember he knows the playbook and has the arm and brain to execute the offense’s playbook. Heck just look at that second game against the Falcons this past season. Mike came in to relieve Jamies after he took that hard hit and arguably looked more poised and in command of the offense than JW3 had in that game. No..I am not saying Glennon should be the Bucs starting QB over Winston, but he showed that he can step in for Jameis without too much of a dropoff should his number get called.
February 2nd, 2017 at 1:18 pm
QB Position is shallow with talent. If Brock Osweiller can get that deal some team will be foolish enough to give MG8 a deal. Think about how many teams have had crappy QB play. There are only so many QBs in the draft. Glennon is good as gone and congrats to him for the opportunity hopefully he makes something out of it besides large sums of $$
February 2nd, 2017 at 1:29 pm
Joe..he was cut for Matt Schaub. Keeping Matt Schaub was a no brainer, but some teams should have signed Sean Renfree.
February 2nd, 2017 at 1:30 pm
It would be worth it to pay Glennon $3-4M per year and know that if Jameis was unable to play for a couple games – that Glennon could likely come in and run the offense efficiently and potentially win games.
Someone is likely to pay him double that or more though and that would be out of our price range for a back up QB who has played 1 series in the last 2 years.
I’m guessing that Glennon has told Licht he wants to test Free Agency and that Licht has made it clear we want him back at $3-$4M per year if he doesn’t get substantially better offers.
February 2nd, 2017 at 1:41 pm
We have too many needs to be paying a backup 8-10 million a season. Ryan Griffin or Sean Renfree won’t cost 20% of that. And they both knows Dirk Koetter offense.
February 2nd, 2017 at 1:56 pm
Pickgrin
I totally agree with your guess. Licht and Koetter have talked with MG8 and let him know he still has a team…for the right price…and they’re good dudes who understand the business…these guys are human beings…they’re going to be happy for MG8 if he manages to hose some GM for big $$$. If he doesn’t score the big $$$$ they’ll be happy to have him back.
February 2nd, 2017 at 2:16 pm
Why would anybody interested in Glennon be talking about him now?
February 2nd, 2017 at 2:19 pm
I haven’t read through the comments yet to see if I am scooped but Carson Palmer just sold his house in Zona yesterday.
February 2nd, 2017 at 2:20 pm
@Joe
Read yesterday that Carson Palmer had pulled his kids outta school and put his house in AZ up for sale…
February 2nd, 2017 at 2:24 pm
LOL we were 1 minute from typing basically the same thing 1 minute apart but I thought he Sold the house. Maybe I was mistaken and he just put it up for sale

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (Insert picture of Ray Liota and crew laughing it up from Goodfellas) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was good. Gof forbid Jameis go down, but if he did lets put in a guy who was unemployed last year and has completed 3 of 7 NFL passes because he was a backup’s backup in Koetters offense. Some of you guys are idiots. The same crowd that says “Lets draft Mixon because he wasn’t all that wrong because that girl had it coming for saying something unsavory to him.” Go root for Buffalo or the Jets.

This is the same thing we’ve seen from Glennon the entire time he’s been in the NFL. A lack of hunger and fire.
February 2nd, 2017 at 3:28 pm
This is a pretty weak free agent class overall. The big names should drum up tons of interest and the rest will probably have to wait until after the draft. Glennon will probably have a couple teams looking at him, but I can’t see him comanding more than $9-11million per year on a shorter prove it contract if they want him for a starter. If he signs for back-up money he’s probably looking at $5-7 million per.
The sample size is just too small.
February 2nd, 2017 at 3:38 pm
Obviously the Bucs have an indication he’ll sign somewhere, Joe is wishful thinking
February 2nd, 2017 at 3:38 pm
I agree with Bill. If you’re gonna make a play for Glennon the last thing you need to do is talk about it now. I also believe this will be Glennons best shot at a good payday so I wish him the best.
February 2nd, 2017 at 3:42 pm
@gotbucs
Yeah the FA group is weak and I’m glad we don’t have to worry about drafting a QB either…pretty slim pickings.
February 2nd, 2017 at 3:55 pm
Write this down somewhere JOE so you know you heard it here first. Glennon will sign with the Bills. Five years 20 million.
February 2nd, 2017 at 4:18 pm
Ghost, Ryan Fitzpatrick signed a one year deal for $12 million with the Jets. Five years at $20 million is back up money. If he is smart he signs a shorter deal anyway. Glennon is 10 years younger, my guess if he signs elsewhere it will be for at least 8 to 10 mill per year and not be too concerned with length of contract. If he truly is a starting QB he can re negotiate in two or three years for a bigger deal.
February 2nd, 2017 at 4:42 pm
Lovie may have been the worst pro personnel director Joe has ever seen! Hey Joe: “LIGHTS FLASHING” Lovie was the HEAD FREAKIN COACH NOT A PERSONNEL DIRECTOR…(whatever that is) I’m so sick of these fraudulent statements, is Kwon not a good player or what about Jameis, and I guess Marpet is a second rate player, I may be wrong but Evans is one of the best in the league, Donovan will earn another contract with this team! One thing I know for a FACT, beating up on, spitting on, name calling Lovie will not help this team get to a play-off game next season. I’m just so sick of the fraud! Go out bring in some more of that kind of aforementioned talent and maybe we can win 10 games! And we all know 10 will get you in!! BRICKS IN THE WALL!
February 2nd, 2017 at 4:49 pm
Glennon is not a franchise QB but would be a great stop gap player while the team either drafted or developed their future starting QB. There is a lot of value in guys not like Manzel.
February 2nd, 2017 at 4:53 pm
Of course Glennon might b more then happy with a 15 year gig as a back up. He will make way more in 15 years than most make in 40.
February 2nd, 2017 at 4:53 pm
BigHog
HEAD FREAKIN COACH NOT A PERSONNEL DIRECTOR…(whatever that is)
Actually Koetter is a head coach. Lovie had enough power when he came here to negotiate total roster and player control…Licht was nothing more than a figurehead.
I do not know what you wish to call it but Lovie CONTRACTUALLY had final say over personnel moves…something only a few NFL coaches manage to score.
February 2nd, 2017 at 4:58 pm
he’ll be a cardinal, a brown, or a jet. all have short and long term worries at QB, and there are no saviors on the draft board this year
February 2nd, 2017 at 4:59 pm
J 2.0 : not only did she call him the N word she put her hands on him first, at that age I would have tried to lock her jaw up so she would have to learn sign language to use that word again, I saw the tape he did nothing wrong. TRUMP IS YOUR PRESIDENT : he grabs the P, Mixon punched her in the face! IT’S BIG LEAGUE!!
February 2nd, 2017 at 5:10 pm
Stpetebucsfan: Don’t believe everything you read (Fake News) he didn’t have enough power to keep from being BACK-STABBED! You know the BACK-STABBER (personnel director)!
February 2nd, 2017 at 5:39 pm
MG8 is a much better QB than Conte will ever be as a DB. What a stupid comment!
February 2nd, 2017 at 5:51 pm
You been hittin the sauce tonight Hog? Your sounding a little out there even for yourself…
“I saw the tape he did nothing wrong”.
Whaaaat? Really? Everyone else that looks at that tape sees a young man using excessive force – going Mike Tyson on a girl who pushed and slapped him but obviously posed no real threat of bodily injury to Mixon. The law agreed. Mixon was charged with acts resulting in gross injury…
Wait a minute – why am I wasting my time feeding the trolls….?
February 2nd, 2017 at 5:57 pm
@BigHog
Lovie was clear and away the worst coach this team’s ever had. He was trash on the sidelines. This franchise is way better off without him, get over it and get over yourself.
Your constant whining is ridiculous, but what else would anyone expect from a keyboard warrior that says, “I would have tried to lock her jaw up so she would have to learn sign language”.
Real class act fella
February 2nd, 2017 at 6:40 pm
The Law, he is a Black man vs a White woman ( did I break that down far enough for you ) tell me what do you reasonably expect the Law to do……I’ll tell you, they tried to break this young man’s life that’s it they tried to break his life! The Law looked at the tape and said she did nothing wrong (alternative fact) you put your hands on me, you should at least try and protect yourself from bodily harm, she called him the N word, she will never use that word in public again, she learned, it cost her but she learned! HISTORY (Emmitt Till)! Keep feeding me, and I’ll throw you some knowledge to chew on!!
February 2nd, 2017 at 7:10 pm
Talent trumps past misdeeds.
February 2nd, 2017 at 8:23 pm
The Ostrich Osweiler debacle has made the market for lanky animal types like the Giraffe a radioactive commodity. I’m fine if he leaves…it’s a difficult style of QBing to watch frankly.
February 2nd, 2017 at 8:37 pm
Like you know anything about Qbs anyway you wanted Johnny Manziel! Dumb ass! And what other Qbs are making the rounds?
February 2nd, 2017 at 8:56 pm
BigHog
Shame on you!!! Emmett Till? Do you suppose we white honkies are too ignorant to recognize the name or are you a traitor to your race or perhaps a pretend black man.
You compare a man who was twice the size of the woman he slugged as being persecuted like an innocent man who was MURDERED as a 14 year old.
I’m literally EMBARRASSED for you for desecrating the memory of a true martyr.
I was a 2nd grader when Till was brutally murdered and I still remember how upsetting that was. SHAME ON YOU FOR DESECRATING HIS MEMORY.
EMMETT TILL “allegedly” LOOKED at a white woman in Mississippi…he did not punch her in the face!!!!
February 2nd, 2017 at 9:05 pm
He’ll be back. Free agency wont be kind to him. Well make him a reasonable offer and he’ll take it instead of going where all NFL players go to tank their careers…. The Browns.
February 2nd, 2017 at 9:06 pm
SPBF
wtf… are yall talking about
February 2nd, 2017 at 9:07 pm
SPBF………Big Hog is the “biggest’ troll on this site. Why would you feed him. He will just grow and keep coming back.
February 2nd, 2017 at 9:13 pm
DEFINITELY don’t feed him After Midnight or get him wet.
February 2nd, 2017 at 9:27 pm
Stpetebucsfan: I know he story, it happened two years before I was born! I was just letting you know that the Law is not always fair, the thing is you act as if she was not a part of the problem, she put her hands on him first, he has the right to defend himself, like I say she learned the hard way that night!! SB keep it moving buddy you don’t want to get off the bus here!
February 2nd, 2017 at 9:31 pm
Actually Henious I will get off the bus as far as I possibly can from your Stupid, Racist, Juvenile, Buc Fan Pretending to be As$.
February 2nd, 2017 at 10:08 pm
SB : have some respect and don’t be name calling or I’ll have to take your bus pass!!
February 2nd, 2017 at 10:11 pm
Lol…….you are the Most laughed at poster here. We make fun of Nobody more than you AND that includes Kobe. You should just let that sink in. I actually wish you were cerebral enough to get that.
February 2nd, 2017 at 11:27 pm
SB: I’m stunned by your assessment of our fine posters, I’m truly hurt that you’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not being taken seriously,…. like I would really care! Cerebral I remember that word from 20 or so years ago when sports casters would describe white QB’s for making plays from the pocket because of their knowledge of the game, it was like black QB’s only made plays because of their athletic prowess……that just came to me from deep down in my cerebellum!!
February 2nd, 2017 at 11:50 pm
BigHog….once again.
This is 2017.
Not 1957.
We’ve already elected our first half black President. Bi-racial. Which I encourage the rest of America to do. Make lots and lots of bi-racial babies. So they can drown out the racists like my uncle and of course BigHog. Make this country coffee… damn it.
BigHog…I hate you. I don’t hate you because of the color of your skin for which I’ve never even seen. I hate you for the way you think. The words you use.
Like Berkeley I’d like to throw things at your house in PROTEST.
This country has become more divided than ever before and guess what, contrary to what a few of you assclowns on the left believe, it started waaaay before Trump. Thank your useless community organizing rebel rouser for stirring it up the last 8 years.
Trump has done more in the first week than Obama and Bush combined. What a waste of EIGHT YEARS. Now he just has to undo a few horrible things that Obama did over the years and he move onto other things.
Everybody ready to get back to working 40 hours week climb aboard. The rest, kick, scream and protest.
February 2nd, 2017 at 11:59 pm
Oh and you can keep typing it all you want, but the wall IS going up.
Like Trump said today. “I make sure I do everything that I say I’m going to do.”
Meaning, he ain’t no damn politician. He moves swiftly and DC is going have to try and keep up. The citizens like you and I won’t even be able to follow it all. Good or bad he’s going to bring REAL change, unlike the man he before him. He’s going to actually do things.
That wall will be completed in 2 years. It’s already starting already. It will BE built. YOU and I will see visual evidence of it being built for the first time within the next 2-3 weeks. Trump moves fast. Try and keep up. He ain’t Obama or Bush or any other politician.
February 3rd, 2017 at 12:20 am
Buc1987: why hate me, I’m not the one who’s been lying to your face for the last 6 or 7 months! Mrs Clinton will never go to jail, a great big wall will never be built, and he will never show his taxes because he’s in bed with The Russian Guy,… 1987 your words are much more divisive than the ones I use, let me just stop and tell the truth, Trump is a racist, surrounding himself with the advice from the alt/right leader and a man who faught against civil rights but he says he will make America Great Again….how can a stupid jack ass make anything great!
February 3rd, 2017 at 5:52 am
With everything happening in Buffalo, they might want to give him a try as a placeholder for the next QB (or 3) they draft.
