Is a snowstorm in Tampa more likely than Corey Davis slipping to No. 19?
A dude walking around with a white cane can see the Bucs need skill position players (plural) at wide receiver and running back. But can the Bucs bank on an impact rookie being there at No. 19?
Luke Easterling is not fully convinced. Last night, the draft analyst for USA Today answered a Bucs-fan question about pulling the trigger on Corey Davis or Dalvin Cook at No. 19 come late April.
@LukeEasterling: I’m fine w/either at that pick, but will be surprised if they’re both there.
And therein lies the problem. The Bucs could surely use Davis, 6-3, the hotshot receiver coached up at Western Michigan by former Bucs wide receivers coach P.J. Fleck. It’s not like the kid wasn’t the product of solid coaching.
Depending on who one follows on Twitter, some draft analysts have Davis rated higher than Mike Williams.

If Davis or Williams are still there, it would be another great 1st round pick. But if they’re gone by the 14th and Barnett is till there, anything reasonably worth a trade up would do wonders for our pass rush. He broke Reggie Whites school sack record. He’s probably going top 10 though.

I have the feeling neither them or the OL or Williams or Davis and Cook will be there. Peppers sounds he may be there but McCaffery may be the best playmaker left at that point but a lot can happen between now and draft day

I’d be willing to bet the farm (if I owned a farm) that Licht will address our primary WR need in free agency and our RB need through the draft, but not in the 1st rnd. Who we grab at #19 will depend on who’s still available who can fill a primary need for us (positional BPA). Seriously doubt Licht will pay a ransom to move up to grab someone (look at what it cost the Rams last year to move up). If the draft goes as mocks think it will (ya right), I’d expect Bucs will more than likely draft a S or TE or DE/DT in the 1st rnd.

This is why winning the last game v Panthers was negligent and irresponsible. But. Glad we got that meaningless win in the rear view! SMH
They’ll both be gone. Guaranteed. John Ross and OJ Howard are the only real weapons left at that point. I’m seeing Ross be off the board then too.
If that’s the case, take someone like Brantley and wait for a Travis Rudolph or Dede Westbrook. Pick up Kermit Whitfield in the 7th

Sign Pryor (4.38) and Stills (4.28) speed and WR problem taking care of, besides rookie WR don’t always produce there first couple of years unless you that transcendent talent, and those guys don’t last to pick 19

Thought Luke Easterling said on Commish podcast that he would take (Allstott-like) RB Forman in the first round. Believe me after the combine Forman will be a high 2nd or mid 1st round prospect. Way better than bad shoulder Cook, Gimpy Fournette, or Mccafery. Luke also wasn’t hot on O.J. Howard at 19 for Buc’s and he is an Alabama fan.

I’m sorry dude but with our potential and improvement this team has, I would hands down take a sweep of the panthers in a meaningless game than a better prospect. Just remember, draft order is almost always completely wrong, leaving very good players later in the draft.
With the exception of our week 17 tanking vs New Orleans to get Jameis, tanking for draft picks is ridiculous. However, that was certainly the exception to the rule. Tanking for draft picks is a loser’s mentality. Look at Cleveland.

No $hit.. there will be no Dynamic playmaker graded at 19. Our best option will be DE and TE OJ Howard.

This is why they will hopefully address WR in free agency. Sign 2 WRs in free agency and you can get a starting caliber RB in any of the first 4 rounds this draft. Dont have to rely on taking one at 19

941 they’re mouths are going to drop when they see it happen. Licht’s playing field is draft. People don’t fool yourselves into believing we are sitting at 19. See last years draft.

Nice thought, but if we trade up 7 slots it will cost us our 2nd rounder at least. We are not in a position to lose picks, not with multiple need areas like OT, safety, RB, WR and DT. Considering Grimes age we also need to think about another young corner. We will get some of this done in FA, but you overpay there and most of the top targets are older. BPA at positions of need at 19.

Mckaffery is Reggie Bush 2.0… I watched that kid ball out last year and without a doubt he is a game breaker . Its like watching the great Reggie Bush at USC . However we need every down players. If we pick him at 19 he will never meet our expectations . Again think Reggie when you think EMK

I hear you about McCaffery and agree and he bring’s Reggie Bush’s versatility…his father was an NFL receiver and he can catch the ball..field punts if needed for an instant insertion of 4.4 speed there.
I also hear you about not being an every down pound it back. But could he be part of an interesting tandem with Quizz. DK does not have problems with running back by committee and he would certainly figure away to showcase McCaffery’s Bushlike talent.
I’m just not blown away by this year’s crop other than the RB’s where I see at least a half dozen I’d like. WR’s….meh…OL…meh…DL..meh…nobody jumps out at me. If we don’t see what we want on the board perhaps we can lucky and trade down for more picks.

Not a chance in hell Davis slips to 19. As soon as his combine #’s are official, he’ll be where he rightfully should and be graded in the top 10.

At 19, you take the BPA that’s not a QB…
The Bucs have a need at every position (and maybe even QB if Glennon leaves)…

Titans make too much sense not to get MM a legit #1 WR.. Rishard is a nice #2 and Wright(if still there next season) can play out of the slot along with Sharpe..
Don’t see them going after John Ross sadly which leaves them Corey Davis most likely as Mike Williams doesn’t slip past the Eagles at 14 too many WR needy teams.
Peppers no questions asked if he is still on the board @ 19.. Return game solved.. Can play a Deone Bucannon/Su’a Cravens role, slot, and outside corner.. Throw him on offense for some gadget plays as well
Ramsey had like 3 int’s in his college career so don’t be put off by Peppers having one he is an absolute stud

Filling a need on a playoff caliber team through the draft is always going to be dicey. The draft is not meant for quick fixes, it’s meant to stockpile young players for development into future stars. Sure, some players come out of college ready to play in the NFL, but most players require some time to adjust and refine their game.
The Bucs need to get out of quick fix mode and start drafting quality players that will be around and be productive through their second contracts.
The place to get a quick fix is through free agency, but the evaluation has to be very thorough. The Bucs should use Free Agency to fill all the holes in their lineup and spend the draft picks on quality players for the future.

Trade back. Use that dough to get some good players in FA. Trade back for more picks.
