Baiting Keith Tandy
December 23rd, 2016Quite a chess game on the docket Saturday, as the Bucs and the Saints faced each other only 12 days ago.
Dirk Koetter shed Xs and Os light talking to New Orleans media this week.
It came in the form of a chat about safety Keith Tandy and how well he’s played as a starter the past three weeks.
Koetter explained that Tandy’s aggressiveness, preparation and his willingness to not think too much have made him successful. But Koetter said that kind of free-flowing play, not typical from a backup when he starts, might lead to a response from New Orleans.
“Now I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the Saints try to come back and double-move him,” Koetter said of Tandy. “You know, that’s usually what happens when coaches and quarterbacks like Drew Brees see a guy being aggressive on tape, they usually come back and double-move him.”
Of course, Bucs defensive coaches are in Tandy’s ear about this possibility. And could that make him tentative? Joe has no clue.
Then there’s what Harvard man tight end Cameron Brate said weeks ago on SiriusXM NFL Radio. He couldn’t wait for the second game against the Saints in a 13-day span because he liked the advantage that would give playcaller Dirk Koetter and what it should mean on the field for him.
There’s no telling which sideline tactician will get an edge Saturday because of the recent matchup. But Joe is very confident someone will.

My hope is that Koetter throw the kitchen sink at the saints i.e., entire game no huddle, trick plays, (in red zone right side hand off run sweep to Doug then Doug pass to Winston), fake field goal or punt (they expect us to punt due to excellent punter n field position, go for it on 4th down, etc. Remember last game Brees missed several opportunities on guys wide open. Let’s jam the line n blitz more often.

Bucs can’t seem to score any points. Same thing happened last year. Second half of the season slide on offense. I just don’t see how the Bucs can win this game.

Koetter and Payton both have very sharp offensive minds – as do Brees and Winston. A chess game indeed.
Koetter has tended towards conservatisim in many ways this year so I doubt we are going to see anything like dmatt described above.
IMO, the Bucs are a better team with more talent than the Saints – especially on Defense. So unless Brees gets hot and lucky, that talent differential should be enough to get us home with another W in the books.
Go Bucs!!

Bucs seem to be unstoppable in the hurry up. Not sure why we are not staying in the hurry up ala Peyton Manning i.e the Messiah’s mentor.

I admit that I wasn’t 100% on Tandy. He’s shown up big and deserves the playing time. Hopefully the defense can maintain it’s integrity and not get burned on the double-move. Hear that, DON’T FALL FOR THE DOUBLE-MOVE!

I expect a loss and lot of turnovers. I think that the turnstile at RT will continue to get abused and Jamies will force things and lose a fumble or two. Bucs are close but not there yet. Need to get better line play and and need Sims to get going.

Tandy has come in and played great but he’s already been beat on a few double moves in San Diego and against New Orleans. We just got lucky that the WR dropped the passes each time.
I’d prefer not to rely on luck again.

Its some what puzzling isn’t it DB,we went to that for a half second against the cgirls and they were befuddled. Their are a number things we haven’t seen this season in contrast to last. My only guess is we’ll see them next season when he drafts a slew of weapons to use them with.

Benny I expect to not hear from you again this season after we win. Funny how so many come out after a lost.

When the Bucs get in the redzone can Koetter please not call the predictable run up the gut for 1 yard?

People keep missing the saints drops and miscues but don’t forget the buccs drove several times into Saints territory and only came away with three points. Cant do that on the road. Also, the phantom kickoff that rollled out at the one inch line gave the saints new life in that game.

Mentioning** the miscues…not missing

We are going to get it done and make the playoffs. No worries. We beat the Saints and the Panthers beat the Falcons, then we play our arses off to beat the Panthers week 17. We are winning the division. Mark it down! If I have to eat crow, at least I was optimistic. GO BUCS!!!!! Hey, get Tampa bay, we know how to shine!
