Hamstring Injury Emerges For Lavonte David
December 15th, 2016Bad news and good news coming from the doctor’s office at One Buc Palace.
On a happy note, starting tight end Luke Stocker was back to “full participation” in practice. Perhaps the loss of Stocker during the first series in San Diego is why reason the running game has faltered?
Of course, it couldn’t have anything to do with Doug Martin (sarcasm).
As Joe noted earlier, Adam Humphries is cleared from the NFL concussion protocol.
But the troubling news is Lavonte David was limited in practice today with a hamstring injury. David was not on Wednesday’s injury report.
Did he get just get hurt?
A key strength of the Bucs defense is health. The entire opening-day defense is healthy, including Chris Conte fully participating this week. Few NFL teams can say that.
Joe sure hopes this is nothing significant.
December 15th, 2016 at 4:20 pm
He still practiced on a limited basis, but we all know how hammies can be….
December 15th, 2016 at 4:21 pm
We need LVD. Let’s hope he turns out okay. His level of play has noticeably improved the last few weeks.
December 15th, 2016 at 4:21 pm
Well, to me this seems like he either did it today or it’s nagging and they just want to rest him. Man, I hope it’s just precautionary? Joe, PLEASE get the skinny on this one!
December 15th, 2016 at 4:22 pm
Man, i hope that was just a tweak from the game. Great to have Hump, conte and stocker back! I wish we would of put a claim in on Floyd too, because if we get another injury at wr, we are in trouble.
December 15th, 2016 at 4:23 pm
Pats got FLOYD!!! Ha I tried
December 15th, 2016 at 4:27 pm
Hope LVD can suit up and be ready. I think we can beat the Cowboys but we do need our starters to be available. Great news about Humphries and Stocker. We HAVE to run the ball to keep Dallas honest which will be more posible with Stocker available. The biggest concern I have with our offense now is the OT’s. Smith just is sub-par and costs us with stupid penalties and Gosder C. has been a liability. Dotson is not much better either. OT really needs to be addressed this off-season. Marpet is great and I like Hawley at Center. Just need better OT play.
December 15th, 2016 at 4:34 pm
You can’t keep LVD off the field. Give him a shot and watch him go!
Next report needs to be on Dotson please. Gosder will get blasted. How about it Joe?
December 15th, 2016 at 4:39 pm
If he doesn’t have proprioception, he should be on the field on Sunday! And this is coming from a doctor.
December 15th, 2016 at 4:44 pm
damn…lets hope they just shut him down in practice for precaution….any word on Dotson?….GO BUCS!!!!
December 15th, 2016 at 4:44 pm
Yeah cause two three guys in the backfield thanks to our line can’t be why our running game is hurting( sarcasm). If Jameis was a glass fragile Browns qb he wouldn’t have lasted two games with this line. How many times has he escaped sacks? Your bashing of Martin is only superseded by your past disgusting fan love of Johnny rehab.
December 15th, 2016 at 4:48 pm
Damn hope he’s good to go and can play at full strength. Def need him to win this game!
Pats claimed Floyd off waivers, btw.
December 15th, 2016 at 4:50 pm
gamesmanship? let’s hope so, because i’m not even sure the Joes could name the 4th or 5th LB on the team right now. Swapping Lavonte for Daryl Smith or some wide-eyed special teamer makes this a much easier defense for Zeke & Dak to crack
December 15th, 2016 at 5:40 pm
Good thing we signed daryl smith
either way Lavonte had been coming on so i hope he’s healthy
December 15th, 2016 at 6:47 pm
Joe looking for any reason to bash Martin is disgusting to me. The article was not even related to him at all.
December 15th, 2016 at 7:19 pm
He’ll be on the field Sunday no worries. Dalvin Cook went thru an entire season in 2015 wit two sore hammies. David not missing game bro. Stage waaayy too big for a player that wants his name out there to miss this game.
December 15th, 2016 at 7:59 pm
He finally makes a noteworthy play and he gets injured?
Hamstrings suck.
December 15th, 2016 at 8:10 pm
“He finally makes a noteworthy play and he gets injured?”
——–
He had 3 straight games with a huge play.
December 15th, 2016 at 8:10 pm
Don’t fret Bonzai,my spidey senses tell me LVD wants a full 7 days to prepare his body for this big game. He’s vet taking a few off claiming your hammie is sore is fine by me long as you ball out on Sunday.
December 15th, 2016 at 8:13 pm
In other news I’m levid Floyd ended up in New England. Of allplaces New Egland. Belichest wins again. D@$!
December 15th, 2016 at 8:17 pm
David will play. He’s been pretty reliable.
Doug Martin has not been great, but the line has been missing assignments in the room game too. The whole running unit needs to step it up.
December 15th, 2016 at 8:32 pm
From PFT
“…the Patriots surely didn’t claim Floyd on waivers simply for what he can do for them over the balance of the season. As Floyd enters the final three games of his rookie contract, the Patriots have acquired another significant benefit: The ability to have Floyd’s potential departure in free agency count toward their 2018 compensatory draft picks.”
This is one thing Licht needs to learn to do. Genius.

@Hawaiian Buc
Don’t go getting all ‘factual’ with me, young man!
December 15th, 2016 at 8:34 pm
Anyone ever stand in a grocery store and say loudly “Go Bucs!” and hear 2-3 people repeat it back from other isles?
hehe.
December 15th, 2016 at 10:37 pm
No.. But I might experiment with that this weekend Bonzai.
December 15th, 2016 at 10:58 pm
Mike Smith to the Jags as head coach is already being reported. Man this sucks!
December 15th, 2016 at 11:05 pm
LVD is getting hotter by the week. We really need him.
All I want for Christmas is my L-V-D. GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!! KILL DALLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 15th, 2016 at 11:42 pm
Ndog, Mike Smith is going nowhere.
And they cannot ‘report’ it as a fact, because it would be tampering anyway. at best, it’s a few media heads talking like they know something more than their own guesses, which they don’t. And if they say ‘a source close to the team’, they mean a local rag reporter with no real insider info (Rick Stroud was famous for making up his own stories).
December 15th, 2016 at 11:43 pm
That aside, I don’t believe Mike Smith will leave after one year here, even if given the opportunity. Will he try to leverage more money? Possibly. But he and Koetter are a team now. Koetter was loyal to him. Smith will want to stand by him.
December 15th, 2016 at 11:45 pm
Watching the post game to Thursday Night FB. It’s all about the Bucs and Dallas. They think Dallas could lose.
December 15th, 2016 at 11:48 pm
It makes me so angry that “La-De-Da” Licht was asleep at the wheel regarding Floyd. Even with VJax out, he looks at the picture and says, “Nope, we’re good just the way we are.” Meanwhile, the Pats, who are a much better team than we are, look at the picture and say, “Now here’s a player who can make us even better.” So he’s good enough to make the Pats better, but not good enough for us. There’s a reason why the Pats are a perennial playoff team while the Bucs haven’t won a playoff game since 2003.

Our team is healthy because Koetter didn’t kill them during training camp!
Koetter made a great call by taking it easy during training camp.
The season is very long and grueling.
The teams that peak at the end of the season have the best chance to make things happen in the playoffs.
And we are peaking boys!!!
December 16th, 2016 at 1:42 am
Anything but asleep at the wheel.
Read the story Joe posted Wednesday. You will understand why Licht passed.

Between soccer and football, I’ve had my share of hamstrings, so two things: 1) They take a long time to heal and 2) feeling good is often followed by re-injury.
