Arrow Pointing Up
December 8th, 2016Joe cannot imagine going a decade without a beer, much less 10 weeks. But that’s what it feels like when Joe looks at sacks from the Bucs.
It has been a decade since the Bucs got 10 sacks from a defensive lineman, much less a defensive end. It has been a virtual bleeding hemorrhoid for Joe lo these many years.
It seems this ailment is on the cusp of relief.
Bucs defensive end Noah Spence, a rookie, is really coming on. He has 5.5 sacks this season, not bad at all for a rookie, and he’s doing it with a bum shoulder that Dirk Koetter said damn near landed him on the injured reserve list.
Though Spence did not register a sack at San Diego, respected X’s and O’s analyst Andy Benoit of theMMQB.com likes what he sees in Spence’s development.
@Andy_Benoit: #Bucs Film: the more the season has progressed, the more Noah Spence’s athleticism has shone through. A very positive sign.
“Positive?” Joe isn’t sure that word aptly describes Joe’s relief. This stain upon the franchise of no double-digit sacks seems ready to end. Spence didn’t get a sack last week in SoCal, but he did hassle and disrupt Philip Rivers.
Sometimes, pressure forcing a bad throw (or pick) is sometimes as good or better than a sack.

Huge difference from early in the season. It seemed early on he was relying on just his speed rush or 1 move; and simply getting taken out of plays at times as O-lineman would just lock him up and use their size as leverage.
As the season’s gone on he’s mixed up his rush technique a lot more and seems to be feeling his way out throughout the game based on how the O-lineman are reacting to him. Provided good health I’d be shocked if he doesn’t get at least 10-12+ sacks a season starting next year.

I think gmac 93 will get 10sacks this year joe.
December 8th, 2016 at 12:34 pm
I think both Spence and GM93 will have a 10 sack season1Joe is their any other team in the league playing complimentary football on both sides like Tampa Bay?I seen even the Cowpokes are struggling at Defense with no push rush and low turnover rates.same goes for the Raiders. I think if we get into the postseason we will give other teams a run for their money.

Let’s get 2 for each GMC & Spence this week. That’d get us to 7.5 & 9. Would love to see GMC hit 10 and go the playoffs after all the losing he’s been associated with lol

I don’t think Spence will get 10 this year, but I think McCoy finally will, as long as he stays healthy.
