If America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, has demonstrated anything in 28 NFL games, it’s that you better bring his rear end down when you pressure him or he will flame your arse.
That’s the word getting around the NFL. Chargers coach Mike McCoy noted he was sick how his team couldn’t bring Jameis down because he knew Jameis would make a play if he escaped a rush.
The numberscrunchers at BSPN have it documented. Jameis may be the best quarterback in the past decade at handing a pass rush.
Jameis Winston has been pressured on 35 percent of his dropbacks this season, fourth-highest in the NFL. He has an 87.1 Total QBR when pressured this season, 21 points higher than anyone else. It would also rate as the highest QBR when pressured since the data was first tracked in 2009.
Joe understands fans just totally wig out during games thinking the Bucs pass rush is a sieve. Jameis would totally disagree. First, he blames himself for the quarterback hits. Second, Dirk Koetter’s offense often requires five- if not seven-step drops. Like that’s not a factor?
Joe remembers Jameis getting grilled after the Rams loss about how Robert Quinn drilled him once. Jameis responded, “How many times did Robert Quinn touch me today?”
The answer was twice.
Still, this stat gets Joe geeked up. If teams want to bring the blitz and chase Jameis out of the pocket, well, then be careful what you asked for!

Yo TeflonDon Jameis! They just slide off him. It’s so sick watching him get out of sacks only to slide out and find an open receiver! Joey Bosa was so lucky to get that one. If Fameis had been able to slip that one and hit on a big play imagine all the tears of frustration on Bosason and head coaches faces!

The Chargers blitzed him a few times this past Sunday and they still couldn’t get to him! If he keeps burning teams, they will stop blitzing which is a catch 22 for a lot of defenses cause Winston will have even more time in the pocket to make accurate throws. Having a good QB is the difference between winning and losing and we got a good one here in Tampa finally!

How about the scramble play that got called back bc of Dotson’s hands to the face call on Bosa. Jameis made the entire chargers def look stupid. He juked about 5 defenders then ran the ball for about 20 yards. But of course it got called back.

Anyone else getting a Brett Favre vibe from Jameis? Just when you think he’s in trouble he burns you! I agree with the Big Ben comparison for the same reason. Earlier this season I’d be screaming “throw it away!” every time it looked like he was in trouble or protection was breaking down. Now I’ve learned that’s when Jameis is the most deadly. What a great feeling it is to finally watch exceptional qb play for our Bucs!!

Jameis blames himself for everything. The defense gives up 1000 yards, jameis blames himself. The kicker miss field goals, jameis blames himself. It rans at ray jay, jameis blames himself. Koetter mismanage the clock, jameis blames himself. Jameis blaming himself for getting hit does not mean the oline is not the the problem. It just means jameis is willing to take the heat for all his teammates which makes them want to play harder for him and this team. Its a brilliant tactic eventhough most of the times its not true (blaming himself)

There was a time when Kurt Warner was the best QB in the league…If you blitz home he burned you and if you gave him to much time he’d pick you apart…the scary thing his how far ahead of the learning curve 22 year old Jameis is…he’s playing like a 30 year old QB…Keep up the good work JW all of his haters is eating humble pie right now…

Fameis is smarter than Big Ben and Favre. He’s already looking similar, and playing as well as they did in his 2nd year. Only worry is he gets wild and forgets to slide. Hope is he’s wising up on that, too. Refs aren’t reliable, and there are DBoys who would love to nail him. Nature of the game. Go Mighty Bucs!!!

The amazing part is that when the best QBS are blitzed, they throw to the quick slant rac reciever outlet
Jameis doesnt even have that type reciever. The best similar rac skill receiver we have is finally playing this sunday. Sims explosive pass catching skills going to make our off t another level

Kobe what are you talking about? Koetter knows this team much better than all of us put together let alone you . He calls the plays to also cover the weaknesses of the line which is run blocking . Just because he doesn’t go balls to the wall every play doesn’t him balless. It’s obvious he’s a much smarter head coach than ewe.
Warthog and DB55 couldn’t you have atleast given those 3 guys the bebefit of Ronda Rousey or Laylah Ali??? They deserve that!

Everyone acts like this is something new, Jaboo has said he loves the blitz, people laughed cause he was still a rookie learning the speed of the NFL.
Ppl questioned the training technique during the pro day with him being poked and taunted with the brooms!

I get the comparisons to Favre and Big Ben but I no longer really see them.
I’m honestly seeing #3 as an original. I remember his rep as being a pocket passer who didn’t move well coming out of college. I’m not a Nole so I hadn’t seen that much but the few highlights I saw of #3 running looked impressive to me. He doesn’t have straightaway speed but he’s pretty quick but most of all he’s very shifty and has that innate feel of where the tackler is.
It’s clear in the past four weeks the game is slowing down for #3 and he’s in complete command of the pocket. His interior mental clock has improved dramatically and he senses when he has to leave the pocket. He’s become an assassin when it comes to taking whatever weakness is exposed in a defense.
He can run around just long enough to find that weakness and then slit the D’s throat with a pass thrown on the run.
Big Ben impresses me as being physically more imposing in terms of throwing it with guys hanging off of him but #3 is quicker and more elusive and I think a better passer of the ball. They are both great but I just think #3 is moving into a category by himself.

Fameis has gone from a pro ready college qb to a bonafide NFL QB and soon to be defense killer! He has the heart and power of a lion and an assassin like a king cobra. Franchise QB Fameis Jameis!

I don’t think he compares much to Favre in the pocket. Gunslinging mentatlity sure, but Jameis is far more efficient at breaking tackles and avoiding sacks. Favre could scramble but he couldn’t stiff arm a 300 lb lineman off of him the way Jameis can.
Big Ben is a lot slower than Jameis, making Jameis more elusive than even Big Ben. Stopping comparing him Big Ben. Soon they will be comparing other QBs to what Jameis does.

Jameis’ accuracy has gotten so much better up to this point also. He has been putting balls on the money in very small pockets.
