America > Philip Rivers
December 4th, 2016The smile on America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, that Joe snapped to the left after today’s win says it all.
The Bucs are in first place in December. Yes, Mr. Glazer, there is a Santa Claus.
Joe heard all week — not without merit — that this game the Bucs faced today was a trap game of sorts. New Orleans lies ahead, and after two dramatic statements in wins at Kansas City and at home against Seattle, the Bucs were walking into a trap whose name was Philip Rivers.
Joe asked a noted sports scribe before today’s game when was the last time Philip Rivers won a big game. The scribe thought for a moment and couldn’t come up with one. Neither could Joe.
Today was a perfect example. Rivers had chances to not only win the game, but tie it up. Instead, he shat on his own field.
It’s one reason why Rivers, despite gaudy stats, has yet to play in a Super Bowl.
Yet Rivers, who hails from Alabama like a certain quarterback on the Bucs roster, could only look across the field today and see a guy who does know how to win big games. That would be Jameis.
He proved time and again in the college ranks he could put a team on his shoulders. Joe isn’t sure Jameis single-handedly won today’s game; that’s a bit much. But he sure as hell didn’t lose the game. He made big plays when the Bucs needed them with dudes not even a drunkard would select for his fantasy football team.
Jameis, unlike Rivers, doesn’t gag on the big stage. And it is why the Bucs are in first place. In December.
Raise a friggin’ glass Bucs fans! You are squarely in the middle of a division title chase!

Wish we’d have picked up Boldin in the off-season. Other than that.. Let’s go Bucs! Get healthy.
December 4th, 2016 at 8:40 pm
Amen!
December 4th, 2016 at 8:41 pm
Let’s go BuCS. Was this the first time that Evans didn’t do much in a game?
December 4th, 2016 at 8:42 pm
I think what we’re seeing is the game slowing down more and more for Jameis………
…….his pocket awareness right now is off the charts
December 4th, 2016 at 8:44 pm
Who in the hell are we gonna play at WR this Sunday? I’m worried and don’t see anyone on the street who could help. Maybe J. Huff? Is it time to promote him?
December 4th, 2016 at 8:46 pm
Just read they fear tore all the ligaments in his knee
December 4th, 2016 at 8:46 pm
Sure hope Hump is okay. Looks like the Lounge Lizard–Martino had a pretty decent day. Bring on the Aints!!
December 4th, 2016 at 8:47 pm
^David luckily the saints’ defense is absolutely butt cheeks
December 4th, 2016 at 8:47 pm
No way J Huff sees the field…..he doesn’t even know the offense yet…..there will definitely be some roster moves this week for sure

Sims is back next week. Just in time.

I agree with you TheBucsAnthem, the game is slowing down for Jaboo. The way he is moving up and around the pocket to avoid sacks is incredible. He looks so calm and poised, and knows how to avoid pass rushers. It’s sooo Vet savvy and he is only 22 years old.
I can say with confidence, that the Bucs with Jamies will be a force in this league for as long as he is playing this game.
I believe Headquarters hears our cry or weapons on offense, they will come this offseason. In the meantime, enjoy the growth of our franchise quarterback. Go Bucs

Jameis is truly a clutch performer and his pocket presence/improvisational skills are 2nd to NONE.
He’s the new Brett Favre, but with a higher ceiling, in my opinion.
December 4th, 2016 at 9:07 pm
Lmao. I had to go there.
December 4th, 2016 at 9:10 pm
Here here!!
December 4th, 2016 at 9:10 pm
Erik…are you happier than ever with our drafting of young Jameis?
This…kid….IS….going…to…be….nasty!
For real. I’ve waited a looooooong time for a QB of this caliber and leadership to grace themselves in Bucs garb on Sundays.
The ceiling is HIGH Bucs fans. So HIGH!

Today was a perfect example. Rivers had chances to not only win the game, but tie it up. Instead, he shat on his own field.
I have had my beer, I literally did the lol thing.
December 4th, 2016 at 9:12 pm
Erik…and no problem going there with Favre.
Tis who I’ve compared him to all along….but much, much more.
The ceiling on this kid is higher than the Freedom Tower.
God Bless America and Go Bucs!

87,
I couldn’t be happier with Jameis. He is the best thing to ever happen to the Bucs organization. You were so right… I wouldn’t take any other QB in the league over Jameis.

Rivers chokes under pressure. Watched the game at a sports book in Vegas and during the Chargers’ final drive a buddy (who knows a hell of a lot more football than do I) said “This is the exact type of situation Rivers throws interceptions. He WILL throw an interception during this drive. Sho’ nuff, Rivers crapped the bed with an INT.
Makes me appreciate Jameis a little bit more.
Yes, I had the Bucs on the money line when they were 4.5 point road dogs. We all did. What else is a fan to do?
December 4th, 2016 at 10:37 pm
The only question is how many Super Bowl wins is Jamies going to win. We’re going to need guys like Brate, Humphries, Rogers and other undrafted free agents to be able to pay our stars. Evans, Kwon and Jamies are going to be very well paid. Our next three HOFers Yeah I effing said it.
December 4th, 2016 at 10:41 pm
If Gerald McCoy and Lavonte David play to the level they are capable of, they could join the other 3 in the HOF also.
December 5th, 2016 at 12:47 am
Hey I got Brate on my FF team and he is a steady 10+ pts per game… most occasions

Rivers though a quality qb is the biggest choker of all time. Even when he had LT running rampant he still find a way to lose it in the end. Matter of fact that’s the Charger way. Stink it up in the big time. I said he was good for a pick or two AND a pick6. Well he got them both! He did the same last time we played them when Dougie was a rook. Inexcusable picks are his trademark. Sure Fameis makes them too but now he’s learning how to overcome them just like the whole team is. A trait Rivers and the Chargers don’t have.
