About That Fans’ Game Ball

Where's the ball?

Where’s the ball?

The Buccaneers need to step up quickly here and get behind the words of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

So as Joe has written, Jameis announced at his weekly media session yesterday that he was presenting a game ball for Sunday’s beating of the Seahawks to Bucs fans in honor of their tremendous support.

Buccaneers.com says it wasn’t just Jameis’ idea, it was a plan set in motion by Jason Licht and Dirk Koetter.

Wonderful! So where’s the ball???

Joe and legions of other fans want to see it or touch it. Maybe even take a picture with it!

It belongs to the fans, right?

Hell, treat it like the Stanley Cup for the weekend and travel around town with it, armed guard in tow. Let folks kiss it and feel the energy it brings forth.

At least put the ball on display in a local free museum or at an event on Saturday or Sunday. Stick it somewhere for fans to savor it.

Let one of the premium sponsors put it on display in a store. Joe’s sure Publix would love the honor!

As far as Joe is concerned, that’s not the fans’ game ball until it’s available to fans.

I agree Joe!!!! we should nominate a “fan” to carry it out on mid-field before the next home game to a loud raucous crowd!!!!!

From what I heard, I nominate bighogheinous, because word on the street is that he is used to handling balls!!!!!

    Go America!!!!!!!

    And Go BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Defense Rules Says:

Hmmm, maybe it’s just a gesture? Symbolic perhaps? Or maybe Bucs owners intend to provide a regulation NFL football to every Bucs fan who shows up at the next home game. Autographed by Jameis and the rest of the team. Ya Joe, I like that one better than just putting one ball on display at one Publix. Could we go with that plan instead?

  3. MegaDaveUK Says:

Ok but it’s hardly important in the scheme of things. It will likely get a bust somewhere or may earn a spot in the locker room but it doesn’t need a hate campaign lol

Does Joe have any game balls from the past in your collections?

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

The funniest part will be when bighogheinous waddles out to mid-field and they have a mic set up so he can say a few words, while being loud and echoing over the P.A. System!!!!!!

    This…Is one ball….. of many…. for…..bighog………..
    One…..Huge…..Football…..For……Bucs Fans………….

Even the Glazers will be ltfao!!!!!!!!!

I don’t know who coined the term but den of depression being replaced with “Den of Aggression” makes total sense to me. Maanne witnessing someone decide they will no longer be pushed around simply a thing of beauty. When you stand up to and whip the bully everyone else starts to look like ants.

  6. Shadow Man Says:

    Realist…thank..you for that…
This..isn’t the…real game ball..bc…it’s more of an orangish reddish tan..and..not true brown

    Brown…balls matter

  7. Leeroybuv93 Says:

We won a home game. It was a great win but that’s it. Putting the ball on display or on tour… you’d think we won the Super Bowl.

  8. Vincente Says:

Forget that. Give us a playoff win ball. That game was unreal but I want a play off birth and a playoff win. Give us that one!

  9. Vincente Says:

I say this because I believe in my team. My bucs are for real y’all! They are for real!

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Symbolic gesture at best.

Fans did absolutely nothing to earn any kind of award so far this year. Not as a whole group.

  11. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Fans want game balls? Go to the freaking games, make tons of noise, and give a home field advantage…which the Bucs do not have at home because there is no real 12th man.

Maybe the players will start giving out footballs after TDs like the Panthers do then.

I love this idea! The Buccaneers should do something like this.

Hey Joe: tried twice now to ‘Submit Comment.’ Nothing controversial in it. What gives?

  14. briandorry55 Says:

I appreciated the gesture…but I’ll care about seeing It up close when they go get us a big shiny silver one.

Nailed it Realist… Let a new tradition begin… Come on Joe get Ira on board he carries a big stick with glazers

  16. cmurda Says:

I nominate myself to bring out the game ball to the Saints game Dec 11.

  17. BigPoppaBuc Says:

The Bucs and their fans are like a married couple that have been in a long standing rough patch. The “game ball” is like bouquet of flowers. A couple more home wins and a playoff birth and I think this relationship can be almost healed.

  18. Tony Says:

What a tool you are joe. It was obviously a symbolic gesture but now everyone will cry and free balls for everyone. Joe must be a liberal hand outs for all.
Why exactly would people cry for free balls? Joe didn’t suggest that. Joe is no tool. Why only offer a symbolic gesture when it would be so damn easy to do more? Joe holds the Bucs to a high standard. –Joe

  19. Buc1987 Says:

    Joe…you damn liberal.

  20. Trubucfan22 Says:

That’s it! Joe’s taking his ball and going home!

Driving from home state of Tennessee down to Tampa to watch Saints at Bucs. Im pretty pumped up!!

  23. NCFlorIdiot Says:

I agree with “The Buc Realist” except not only let the selected fan carry the game ball onto the field pregame…. hand him the mike and let her/him give a pregame war chant to get the crowd and the team going nuts… it would be a very original and crazy cool tradition that would be unique to the Bucs! Make it happen Joe!

    Have fun!

  25. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Great idea Joe. I think the biggest present to fans would be not collapsing down the stretch as we have so many times now. Staying cautiously optimistic.
