A Winning Record… In December!
November 27th, 2016Yes, it is still November. And Joe can still taste that delcious deep-fried turkey he had on Thanksgiving.
Before the Bucs board a plane for San Diego, the calendar will have turned to December (where did November go?). And when the world welcomes the final month of the year, the Bucs will have a winning record.
This is sort of like Rachel Watson finally succumbing to all of Joe’s lustful pleas over the years. It is so unthinkable, so unexpected, Joe doesn’t know how to feel. A winning record in December. The Bucs? Yeah, really.
Only three times since Joe has had this here corner of the interwebs up and running have the Bucs had a winning record in December: Chucky’s last year, the improbable 10-6 record in 2010 under the guidance of Raheem Morris, and in 2012.
Yes, Bucs fans, there really is a Santa Claus.
Is there anyone, after the Bucs choked away a win against the Raiders and then got their saloon doors blown off by the Dixie Chicks, who thought the Bucs would be standing right now with a 6-5 record? Go ahead and put your hands down because you are liars.
“It is a great thing,” Bucs linebacker Lavonte David said, a player who has never experienced a winning season in the NFL. “Hats off to this football team and hats off to the coaching staff for sticking together.”
How the defense rolled today was, in a nutshell what America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, has preached in recent weeks: Family.
Many Bucs players referenced that in the locker room. In football terms, it is complementary football.
“Definitely a long time coming for this team,” defensive tackle Akeem Spence said, himself a player who has never experienced a winning season in the NFL. “We have to treat [the win] like another game. We are happy we are above .500 but we have a trip to the west coast [Sunday against San Diego]. We have to take care of business.”
So the last two weeks, the Bucs went toe-to-toe with two of the best teams in the NFL, and walked out of the ring not only unscathed, but holding a belt aloft.
Good teams don’t get tripped up by lesser teams. A win over the vulnerable Chargers is a must-win both for the franchise, and the playoff chase.

The Charger game will be close also. The schedule ahead looks difficult to me.

To hold the Seahawks to basically 3 points on offense is truly Amazing!!!!
Great job Defense. I don’t think that we were credited with all of our sacks. I counted 7 sacks…..maybe it’s just me

Buccfan37 I agree with you, its a tough schedule, but it has been all year. Other than the Cowboys, no one on the schedule is better than the last two teams we have played. If the Bucs stay focused they will be alright.

Best 2 wins in years. I Hope it’s the beginning of something special. Nice to have hope in December. If we can keep improving on defense and pass rush, Bucs will be in the thick of it at end of season. I believe in Koetter no matter the final record. Go Bucs

Ok now please….NO SWELLED HEADS. Learn from the letdown after Atlanta in week 1. I know it’s easy to say they’ve learned, but it’s also easy to be feeling yourself after two wins in a row against two good winning teams. STAY HUMBLE. MAINTAIN YOUR INTENSITY. Punch San Diego in the mouth!! Keep it rolling!!

BTW loved seeing Shelton Quarles pumped up on the sidelines giving high fives to the defense!! We haven’t forgotten you 53!!

Both of these teams (Chiefs and Seahawks)were beatable with a healthy team. Neither team has stellar offense players, they are tough as he!! On defense and both teams were missing superstars. Not diminishing the win because we have played all year without healthy stars of our team, the only real weakness on our team when healthy was the safeties and they are showing up now. Yeah we need a number two receiver, but a healthy Vjax would still be a contribution and look at what we are getting from Shep
