Gameday Tampa Bay!
November 20th, 2016Game 10
Bucs (4-5) at Chiefs (7-2)
Kickoff: 1 p.m.
TV: WTVT-TV Channel 13; DirecTV Channel 710.
Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network (WDAE-AM 620 and WFUS-FM 103.5 in Tampa-St.Petersburg region); SiriusXM Channel 121.
Weather: Joe has seen worse weather in late-November in the Midwest. It’s actually pretty good football weather. Per AccuWeather.com, expect low-40s for the legendary tailgating at Arrowhead Stadium and by kickoff 48 degrees, which should rise to 54 by game’s end all under sunny skies. It has been blustery this weekend in Kansas City and there should be winds in excess of 10 MPH today.
Odds: Per FootballLocks.com, Chiefs -7.
Outlook Once again, the Bucs are on the doorstep of a .500 record, which in NFL terms means relevance. And when that comes just before Thanksgiving, that also means a wild card race. Standing before them is one of the better teams in the NFL, one of the better defenses in the NFL in one of the most hostile environments in the NFL, the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. No biggie, right? In Joe’s eyes the only way the Bucs win this game is if the defense rises up like it did last week against Chicago and creates some turnovers. The Chiefs are nothing to brag about on offense (the Bucs are actually better offensively than the Chiefs) and the Bucs, Joe hopes, showed last week what they can do on defense when everyone is healthy and executing. This is what it is going to take. The defense must be stout and it must create turnovers, and it would sure help if there is a defensive score or two. Joe doesn’t see the Bucs offense, with a beat up offensive line and the likes of WR Freddie Martino and his Band of Renown doing much against the Chiefs. Also note that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, has more often than not struggled against 34 defenses.Would sure be nice if RB Doug Martin could play like the Pro Bowler Doug Martin.
Trinkets: Despite the Chiefs having such a stout defense, they are only 21st in the NFL in sacks with 18. … Kansas City leads the NFL in turnover ratio at +14. … The Chiefs are among the NFL bottom feeders on offense at 26th (332.8 yards a game). … Kansas City is seventh in points allowed (18.7 a game). … The Bucs are 13th in the NFL in points scored, more than the Steelers, Cardinals, Seahawks and, yes, the Chiefs. … This may shock some folks but the Bucs are 15th in the NFL in sacks (21). … Tampa Bay is 14th in total offense (357.6 yards a game). … The Bucs are among the dregs of the NFL in points allowed at 26th (26.9 a game). … Chiefs CB Marcus Peters is tied with Casey Hayward for most picks in the NFL (five). … Chiefs OLB Dee Ford is second in the NFL in sacks (10). … ILB Derrick Johnson leads the Chiefs in tackles (66) which is 23rd most in the NFL. … Chiefs QB Alex Smith is 26th in the NFL in passing yards (1,816). … Since 2013, only two players have more picks than CB Brent Grimes (15), Reggie Nelson and Richard Sherman. … TE Cam Brate is tied for fourth in Bucs history for touchdown catches in a season (five). … WR Mike Evans is tied with Jordy Nelson for most touchdown catches this season (eight). … Winston is seventh in the NFL with touchdown passes (19).

Great analysis Joe (the ‘Trinkets’ is a nice touch). Agree about Bucs defense needing to create some turnovers against KC, but that’ll be hard. Chiefs are very good at ball security … they’ve only fumbled 9 times total and Alex Smith has only thrown 3 INTs. Chiefs 2 losses (both on the road) are really interesting. Houston squeaked by them, but the Steelers mauled them (43-14 … Steelers were ahead 29-0 at the half). Steelers won the turnover battle that day (+2), but Roethlisberger had an incredible day (22-of-27 for 300 yds & 5 TDs). The other big story for the Steelers was Le’Veon Bell rushing (18 runs for 144 yds) & receiving (5 catches for 34 yds). Monster days for both. Jameis & Doug will both need to have similar big days to beat the Chiefs, as well as our defense playing a great game.

This is a real test. hopefully they play hard cause winning this one In tough environment would show that they are closer to being a playoff team in the future. Unfortunately, we have to many injuries and holes on offense and defense at this time. But if good Jameis (not bad jameis) shows up, anything is possible.
November 20th, 2016 at 6:38 am
Joe, for one night with that Kansas Beauty and I’d go turncoat and would root for the Chiefs.
November 20th, 2016 at 7:38 am
FWIW peters is expected to try to go but will be limited if he does. Could provide opportunity for Evans.
November 20th, 2016 at 8:01 am
Just hoping we see more improvement – a close game would be very encouraging. No turnovers from Jameis, Martin has 100+ yards, 3+ sacks, 2+ TOs. All of that would mean we have a chance, if not a WIN!! Go Bucs!
November 20th, 2016 at 8:04 am
keep the defense off the field Tampa. Set the tone with 22 pounding it and wearing them down, and please coach don’t get comfortable with any lead you may get. Also man up D, disrupt routes, make Alex smith go through his reads so he’s not dunking it to his RBs for big gaines, d line gets in there quick and boom! turnovers and sack city baby. Let’s go Tampa!

Agree negative, usually don’t like blondes but she’s very nice.
November 20th, 2016 at 8:59 am
Chiefs are overrated for this game. 7-2 does not tell the whole story for this game.all of you will see teams are evenly matched and I believe it is going to come down to field position & whichever way the ball bounces.if we can keep pinning them inside the 10 after a good anger punt that’s when we will either see turnovers happen for our d or they will have a 3 n out with good field on our end. Get better in red zone jameis ! Go bucs !
November 20th, 2016 at 9:11 am
How come we never see pics of our cheerleaders?
November 20th, 2016 at 9:13 am
I’d rather use my hand than to go turncoat.
There’s plenty on this site that go turncoat for less.
Am I the only one that actually thinks they have a prayer today?
Cause I do expect Martin to have a good day today, thus Jameis has a decent day.
They could and should lose, but sometimes I get a good feeling. Feeling it today.
November 20th, 2016 at 9:15 am
The chiefs have given up some big plays to number one wide receivers. That and the run have the potential to be a weak spot.
Although I think they will prepare to stop our run game…or try to.
Any. Given. Sunday.
I’m no longer predicting wins or losses. I’ll just keep saying that they are my Bucs and I will support them no matter what.
Win. Lose. Draw.
No matter how hard it can be at times.

November 20th, 2016 at 9:44 am
If we play today like we played against Chicago, we can win this game.
Go Bucs!
November 20th, 2016 at 9:50 am
BB there are different kinds of fans
I will be rooting for my Bucs 200% when the ball is kicked off
I want mu bucs to win championships in the near future
The. 2016 roster is worse than the 2015 roster or it should have been much better
I will hold gump accountable for 2016 failures and setback and what could have occurred with a competent experiencex GM in charge
November 20th, 2016 at 9:58 am
I’m saying 8-8 this season. We need one more year W/THE SAME COACHING STAFF to get into playoff shape. This a drop dead/chamber of commerce gorgeous day today. Wish this one was here; Arrowhead makes me nervous. May the best team win, and I hope it’s the Bucs. Go Tampa Bay-Scalp the Chiefs!!
November 20th, 2016 at 10:07 am
I’m a Buc fan, but i’m also a man with common sense. Kansas City should win this game with ease. They have superior coaching, superior players, superior system. Andy Reid has only 3 losing seasons in 18 years as a Head Coach ( None with the Chiefs). I’m rolling with the Chiefs, a team that is 18-3 in their last 21. And they haven’t lost at home since last October, the Bucs have a chance of winning. I roll with the odds and the odds are against the Bucs.
November 20th, 2016 at 10:09 am
I read Kobe faker’s comments on here everyday as I do most . It is laughable my bumbling bucs friend that you can even make comments about wanting a GM better than Mr.meathead.name me one that the bucs have had other than McKay. Who we have now has done a pretty good job trying to turn around this organization & the only stupid thing he has done was drafting a gosh darn frighten kicker in the 2nd Rd. I personally am giving him a pass on that 1 because I can see how grabbing a great kicker can win meaningful games for your team & for some reason I feel behind closed doors jameis was pushing for Robert. Root for him to improve as a GM and give him a few years to build around our QB! We are getting there folks
November 20th, 2016 at 10:11 am
Love you Joe. You write like a real fan.

I would probably give my left nut for a bucs win and Kobe to leave forever. Of course we all know he’d just change his name and keep posting, but one can dream
November 20th, 2016 at 11:38 am
I remember the shocked look on Andy Reid’s face during the 2002 NFC Championship when the Bucs beat the Eagles to close down the Vet. That was a long time ago, but I would like to see the same look on his face again today.

November 20th, 2016 at 12:29 pm
Go Bucs!!! Play smart! Play hard!
November 20th, 2016 at 12:30 pm
If everyone does Their jobs (coaching also) we have a chance! GO BUCS!
November 20th, 2016 at 12:47 pm
Our biggest weakness is not our defense, it’s Special Teams. And that is a strength for the Chiefs. Kansas City don’t do anything pretty, they just play smart football. They don’t turn the ball over, play good special teams and create turnovers. They are one of the least penalized teams in the league, we have to play smart football in order to beat them.
November 20th, 2016 at 12:59 pm

November 20th, 2016 at 1:38 pm
The losses to the Eagles and Andy Reid in the 2000 and 2001 playoffs was the thing that got Tony Dungy fired.
November 20th, 2016 at 4:21 pm
I cannot believe EVERYONE missed my coded comment above, lol.
