Coming Back To Earth

Eric Berry and the Chiefs’ secondary have Dirk Koetter’s full attention.

Cool to see America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, distribute the ball to so many different receivers when the Bears completely took Mike Evans out of the game Sunday.

Somehow, Joe doesn’t think that will be the case this Sunday.

Let’s face it, the Bears stink. The Chiefs, tied with Oakland for the AFC West lead, appear to be heading for another playoff appearance and yesterday, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter waxed poetic about Kansas City’s secondary, especially in the red zone.

“When you watch the tape on these guys, especially their red zone tape, wow,” Koetter said. “Inside the 20, they really close it down on you. They’re very aggressive with their hands, they get a lot of balls that they get popped up in the air, somebody else might catch it. All four of their DBs, their one safety, 38 [Ron Parker], covers like a corner, used to be a corner. [Eric] Berry, the other safety, covers like a corner. Their corners cover like corners. [Marcus] Peters really makes plays on the football and it’s almost like they have four wide receivers back there that are also tough tacklers.

“So, these guys are impressive. What they did to get Carolina last week, to come from behind, not even score a touchdown on offense and really their defense – the pick-six by Berry and then the turnover at the end where Peters pulled it out of the hands, there’s a lot of impressive plays on their tape.”

So just judging results and Koetter’s breakdown of the Chiefs’ secondary, it sure doesn’t smell like it will be a good match-up in favor of Freddie Martino and his Band of Renown.

Koetter later spoke to how if Kansas City does try to double-cover someone, say Cam Brate or, of course, Evans, there should still be someone open.

Chiefs are one of most talented teams in the league and they are deep with it.

Their biggest problem is Alex Smith and his refusal to push the ball down the field much; but it works for Reid’s offense.

I own Spencer Ware in fantasy and the guy is a beast. Averaging like 5+ YPC on the season and is basically their new more powerful Jamaal Charles. I’d sell out on short plays / stopping the run on downs 1 & 2 while doubling Travis Kelce; in the hopes of getting Smith in 3rd and long situations. Then you press & blitz like we did against the Bears.

I think we were going for pressure a lot against the Bears on early downs and that’s why it was easy for Howard to churn some big gains when running through the middle / through the pressure where he had daylight early. I’d like to see more of a run-stuff & stop the short passes philosophy this week

Bucs offense always struggles against good defenses. Winston is not experienced enough to handle the conplexities, and talent wise our recievers just can’t win one on one battles. Doug martin and our o line will need to have a heck of a game for is to pull out a win. Luckily the chiefs offense isn’t too explosive, it will be a low scoring affair. Im not sure the bucs are good enough to win a close game against a truly good team. Eitherway it goes it should be a fun game to watch.

At some point and time there needs to be a game that we can say this is when JABOO AND THE BUCS grew up and it began to click. THIS IS THAT GAME ! This is why I believe Dirk called so many plays last week without Mike Evans in the game . Build some trust between JABOO and the other receivers . Mike Evans will get his but IT WON’T BE EASY . The rest of the bunch will have a big say in this game . Also expect to see HUFF ON THE ACTIVE ROSTER THIS SATURDAY .

    BUCS 23 – CHIEFS 20!

Nobody giving us a chance and the trolls predicting KC blowouts.
This is Just the kind of game we win!

Cam actually was dominating the Chiefs defense, until he threw that pick 6 to Eric Berry. I don’t think the Chiefs are a elite team, the Bucs can beat them. But we can’t turn the ball over to them. I watched the Steelers beat them 43-14, and they was leading them 36-0 in the 4th quarter. the Chiefs scored 14 points in garbage time. The problem is the Chiefs are a different team at home, but the Bucs can beat them.

LC has found the secret to win Football games.. stop the run and put teams in 3rd and long… genius strategy!! You must have stayed at a Holiday inn Express….

  10. BuccaneEric75 Says:

1onebuc, I agree we need “that game”, but Arizona was supposed to be it, then Denver. I think we will get a turn around against a top team, but I don’t know if it will be at Arrowhead. I just want to see Jameis and the offense go off against an above average defense.

  11. Newbucsfan2 Says:

Whatever..f them. They’re not all that! Go bucs!!

  12. Newbucsfan2 Says:

    Just saying..,

  13. Newbucsfan2 Says:

Btw…go panthers. Hope they beat the saints!

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

CUSTERS last stand premieres on Sunday. The Chiefs are in no mood for waltzing. Bucs need to..circle the wagons tightly. This could easily become the..Little Big Horn in a hurry. Lets see if this Bucs Defense has..figured it all out. I..think not. But ya never knows……………..

  15. North Korea's Quarterback Says:

I predict a pick six by Marcus Peters! North Korea’s Quarterback gets exposed this game…You heard it here first!

  17. mike10 Says:

This made me think, what if they pushed Hargraves to nickel and tried Vermeer at safety?

I say after this year we go down to OBP and have daily chants and signs of “WE WANT BERRY, WE WANT BERRY!!!” Who’s with me?

  20. ChaosRecon95 Says:

The Chiefs are for real. They’re not trying to lose a home game to Tampa Bay. That being said, their offense is not all that good, and a good defense could keep it close. Jameis clearly has his work cut out for him. If our tackles play even close to as poorly as they did against the bears, we have no shot
