Yes, Buccaneers defensive coaches often give out a game ball after games.
Is one awarded after losses? Joe’s not sure.
But the guy who got the defensive game ball on Sunday was defensive end Robert Ayers. Amidst all those defensive heroes during the beat down of the Bears, it was Ayers who got honored by his coaches after they viewed the game film.
Dirk Koetter shared the news on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
Koetter talked about how dangerous the Bucs’ pass rush is when Ayers and McCoy can rush inside in the Bucs’ nickel defense. And, Koetter said, newcomer Ryan Russell and Noah Spence healthy on the outside made a difference Sunday.
Ayers makes guys around him better, Koetter said, affording the veteran DE the highest of praise.
Joe has noted in the Ira Kaufman Podcast and on these pages that the Bucs’ defense is extraordinarily healthy. The entire starting 11 on opening day is available and ready. Very few teams can say that.
Ayers talked to Joe after Sunday’s game about the Bucs finally getting in a game where they had plenty of chances to pin their ears back as a pass-rush unit. And they produced. How refreshing!

I have been quite surprised that on many playsthe last 2 games that both teams have been lining up help on NS57!!! Whether a chip block by the TE or having the RB help the O-tackle!!!! Once again with someone with speed garnering so much attention!!!!! That really frees up the other lineman!!!!
Now stay healthy D-line so this team can compete this gauntlet of a schedule!!!

I was hard on Ayers, I take back what I said he’s proved me wrong. I think 1 more DT and DE an this line would be feared.

YES. rod. I have noticed more Pressure when he is not in the game.
He is seond or third in tackles for the DLine every game.
This guy is paid as an elite player

I only had three problems with our performance in the game.
The gaping hole right up the middle of our run defense.

was mccoy even on the field the play that mcdonald got his sack early. just watched the reply and did not see mccoy I am sure it was just a bad angle or maybe it was dline is more aggressive when 93 is given a blow

Good. He earned it. @Tampabaybucfan, I think most of the reason was Jaboo was obviously hurting, and I’m guessing, helping him out. He looked like Namath in the pocket late in the game. He couldn’t even plant his foot to throw or move around. I’m afraid he’s more hurt than we know.

I’m happy they won (VERY) – but it was one game against a QB who our own D said held the ball too long. One game doesn’t make a season, and it’d be nice to see them do it more than once. They’re playing against a much better team Sunday, let’s see them do it twice eh?

Watch the safety. It was the pressure by McCoy that caused Cutler to leave the pocket. But I’m sure that was another meaningless play.

Just read bills are unhappy with Marcel Dareus production, he’s not fitting Rex Ryan scheme he’s a 4-3 DT, not 3-4. Imagine him next to McCoy.. I can dream.

Hawaiian. Tmax is of the mind that DT’s win or lose games. Every play is worthless unless he gets a sack in some peoples ‘opinions’ and I use that word loosely. Just stop feeding him. He will never understand.
