Dirk Koetter shares Josh Huff observations.
When the Bucs picked up thrown-to-the-curb receiver Josh Huff this week, there was confusion why he wasn’t assigned to the active roster.
It sounds as if he will be. In other words, patience grasshopper, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said this week speaking about Huff on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
“I am not too familiar with any of the stuff that led to his release with Philadelphia,” Koetter said. “But when I was coaching in Atlanta with Mike Smith, we had Josh up in the Senior Bowl coming out. When you get to be around those guys for a week, and coach them for a week and have them in a meeting room, I really liked Josh coming out. Of course, he went to Philly.
“When he became available, Jason Licht, our GM, picked him up for our practice squad and he has definitely flashed, his athleticism in practice this week.
“The main thing is with a new guy coming onto the team, you have to get him up to speed on the terminology and just the different route trees and route patterns, that sort of thing
As soon as he [goes to the roster,] I do think Josh has a chance to help us.”
So maybe if the Bucs can win a couple of games, pull to .500 by Thanksgiving and be on the fringe of a wild card run, perhaps there is cavalry coming at wide receiver before long.

Looks like the NFC South’s (fourth best) QB, Pro Bowl Alternate, Jameis Winston might have another weapon besides Evans to throw to. Be great if it helps.

Another better version of josh is available and thats josh gordon, of course jason gump tries to be smartest in the room and usually swings and misses

Yeah and Josh Gordon, hasn’t gotten caught with an illegal firearm with hollow point bullets, he just can’t stop hitting the bong. It’s ridiculous that Koetter doesn’t know why he was released from Philly, just coach speak BS.

They must have plans for Huff because they are paying him like he’s already on the 53 roster. Below are excerpts from ProFootballRumors.com.
The Buccaneers scooped up troubled wide receiver Josh Huff by signing him to a practice squad deal. It turns out that he is getting paid a lot more than your average practice squad player, a likely indication that there was competition for his services. The Buccaneers are paying wide receiver Huff $31K/week to be a member of their practice squad, Field Yates of ESPN.com tweets. That’s a solid paycheck, especially when considering that he was making $36K/week on the Eagles’ active roster.
P-squad players make a minimum of $6,900 per week which comes out to just over $117K if that player is on the roster for the entire season. Taxi squad players also earn weekly paychecks during the playoffs, provided that the team makes it to the postseason. Huff’s deal with Tampa Bay is worth nearly five times the league-mandated minimum wage, so one has to imagine that other teams expressed interest in him.

Lol! The Bucs are the worst team in the league sans SF. The Bears are talking playoffs. They are healthy and they dominated the best defense in the league . Bucs Fans, get ready for three losses in a row. Bears roll up over 200 yards rushing and will win 30-14. Bucs scores come late in garbage time. Bucs fans know that’s when JW shines. Always at his best when there is nothing to play for.

Uh..Gordon may be a better talent, but nobody’s gonna pick up him up this season. Too many demons he’s fighting right now. Finally cleared to come back to the team in week 5 and voluntarily checks himself back into rehab?? No team is touching that. Especially for what cleaveland wants for him…

Dirk Koetter had a lot worse players on his roster at Arizona State, they make Josh Huff look like a choir boy.

Huff would immediately help our return game and his speed on the outside would open up the field for our other WR’s. Why he has to know the route tree this week is beyond me. Who knows what Dictator Goodell is going to do to Huff, so why not use him?

Just face it guys, we aren’t a very good team. And I think it mainly has to do with the Loser mentalities around here. I WON’T blame dirk YET. He is a first year hc. Bill belicheat was FIRED by the BROWNS. I’m not saying dirk is belicheat, but let’s not be the browns. We already fired not 1 but 2 GREAT coaches. Let dirk get some weapons on offence (wr2 and a reliable rb) and some new tackles ( move Donavan Smith to LG, Marpet to C, Pamphile to RG) and see what this offence can do. I’m also all for moving GMC, but we have to get the right players or picks back. No sense in moving him for anything but a 1st. He11 Bradford has be traded for like 7 1st round picks total (and he sucks)
