Bears struggle against young quarterbacks.
Joe believes Bears coach John Fox is one of the best defensive minds in the NFL.
Look, to win a playoff game with Tim Tebow and get to a Super Bowl with Jake Delhomme, you better know what you are doing defensively.
It seems Fox isn’t living up to his reputation the past two seasons.
John Mullin of CSN Chicago noted that first- or second-year quarterbacks have eaten up the Bears recently. So Joe decided to do a bit of research.
Carson Wentz was 21 of 34 with a touchdown in Week 2. Dak Prescott was 19 of 24 for 248 yards and a touchdown at the end of September. To stretch Mullin’s premise further, third-year quarterback Blake Bortles was 20 of 33 for 271 yards and a touchdown last month.
Mullin noted this pattern began last year for the Bears.
The Bears were outscored 61-37 in two losses to the Minnesota Vikings and second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. They managed to escape Tampa with a win despite Winston’s 295 passing yards and two touchdown passes, and defeated the Oakland Raiders and second-year quarterback Derek Carr, albeit only through a Robbie Gould field goal with two seconds remaining.
This is very interesting to Joe. America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, of late, has not played badly. Some might think he has played well, save for a costly fumble against the Dixie Chicks.
So, will Jameis be able to outfox Fox to continue this bumbling Bears’ pattern?

It doesnt matter. If our defense lays down for the Bears offense, we will lose if it comes down to a shoot out.

Raiders and Falcons had bad defenses and kept Jameis in check. Bears d will dominate

Nope, you guys are wrong. Young quarterbacks have been teeing off on Chicago. Plus Doug will most likely be back. I see us putting up monster points and getting our first home win of the season. 10 days rest will help this defense. Especially against Cutler. I think we roll.

@Eric- I’m flying down from NYC so I hope you are right. Especially since this will my last home game for a long time. But this defensive scheme is awful and coaches normally don’t change their strategy mid season

The problem is that the Eagles have a good defense and Cowboys have an excellent line & running game. Bucs have neither of those at the moment. Jameis will have to be very sharp and have a run game. Definitely a winnable game, but Alshon & Meredith against our secondary worries me.

Fun day for Jameis? Yeah..right. This team does not have fun. It..struggles weekly. Jameis has not been that great either. teams with lower drafted QB’s
are tearing It up ! But they play defense and we don’t.

IF (A very big IF) our D-line could at least hit Cutler a few times he will head for the bench. Cutler is soft like tissue paper.

Why would you say a mediocre QB playing with only one good option on offense behind a suspect line would ever have a fun day? Against anyone.
Oh yeah, and let’s not forget our crap defense giving Cutler so much time he could go into diabetic shock and recover, and still find time to hit a receiver.
The Bears aren’t losing this game.

Let me just add that IMO the Bucs are now, outside of the Browns and 49ers the worst team in the NFL. I think without a competent running game and a 2nd option at WR that they’re absolutely screwed.

Can the NFC South’s (fourth best) QB, Pro Bowl Alternate, lead them to another win? He’d better, because this is one of their very few remaining chances this season to put a W on the board. If they want to hit 6 wins then a victory this week is an absolute must.
