Draft Watch 2017 Has Begun
November 3rd, 2016
Welcome to draft watch, a Bucs tradition unlike any other in the NFL.
With this Bucs loss to the Dixie Chicks, the Bucs are now 3-5. The defense, which a couple of short weeks ago looked to have turned the corner, instead has run off the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Outside of Mike Evans, there isn’t a weapon at the disposal of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, that would scare an assistant coach at Indian Rocks Christian High School.
Now it is just a matter of where the Bucs finish and where they will draft. It’s pretty obvious what they should target come April.
Not necessarily in this order, the Bucs need a wide receiver, a running back, a tight end, possibly a defensive tackle, a safety, a kicker and for the love of God, a pass rusher.
Other than that, this team is set for a playoff run.

DT, QB, Safety, WR, Not enough draft positions…..so that means trade down that 1st and DONT MOVE UP FOR A KICKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would take TE off the list. Other than that, WR in free agency and the rest in the draft. Good night fellow suffering Buc fans

They need a complete house cleaning from the owners straight down. Over 12 years since they went to the Superbowl and they haven’t come close since. How is it that teams like Greenbay and New England continue to thrive (minus the quarterbacks), yet Tampa continues to find new ways to lose? They go through 6 different head coaches in that time as well. Maybe it’s time for the Glazers to put the team up for sale and see if someone new can bring in a better vibe. Unless something drastic changes, this team will continue to be in the bottom of the league standings each and every year.

Here we go sometime saying something stupid. This team is 3 drafts away from a full rebuild, no one is looking forward to draft talk, this team is afraid to draft replacements for injury prone players up in age because they thought they were so close all we needed was a kicker. If you would trade up in the second round for a kicker on a team this has had one winning record since like 2008 I’m scared of what he’ll do next year.
We had a chance to build this team starting up front but opted for a midget cornerback with all the tall receivers in the south division and ad end who weighs in like a linebacker.. Uuum yea this is the 3rd gm we’ve hired that has no clear plan or clue what he’s doing. Which is why we’ve been rebuilding almost a decade.

I can’t wait for Jason ‘free pass’, 11-29, 3-17 at home, Licht, to have another shot at the draft.
The busts are piling up. ASJ, Sims, Smith, Aguayo. Not to mention getting nothing out of the late round picks.
He’s as bad as freaking Dominik. In fact worse. The ‘rockstar’ was 28-52 or .350. Licht is 11-29 or .275.

This past offseason is proving to be the worst in TB history, and it has to be all on Licht. Sweezy, Aguyao, not addressing the safety positions, hiring Koetter and Smith. The team is just plain clueless and lost. Koetter is in over his head and appears to have already lost the respect of the players.

The first thing that team needs to do is solidify their line. Otherwise you’ll end up like the Colts with Andrew Luck, making a franchise QB take a beating unnecessarily. Offensive line is the one spot that doesn’t have a shaky history of mid-level FAs flaming out if you spend wisely. Look at Iupati in AZ or the guy the Raiders got this off-season. Both have made a difference. Identify some top flight guards and throw your FA money at that or a C if one is available but I don’t see that player in this upcoming class like a Mack, then spend your draft on finding another tackle, hopefully one that can play left but definitely can play RT because Dotson is not that good. Same with receivers. Pitt finds them every year. So if you’re not finding them, that’s on your scouting department. Stop picking up unathletic scrubs like Humphries and believing in Rudy stories. Rudy doesn’t win games in the NFL. Athletic prowess wins in that league. The rest of your draft should all be on defense, mostly that horrid line and those safety positions to start.

Joe, at 4-12 (doubt if the Bucs can lose every game, they might win one on the road) it is likely the Bucs will have a top 5 pick only behind a couple of other perennial bottom feeders like the Browns, Niners and possibly the Jags. This should be the goal now that the season is lost and I see a huge losing streak on the horizon and the Bucs may start to tank now and let other bad teams like the Bears catch them in the win column.. Do ANY Buc fans think the Bucs can stop Jay Cutler? I am willing to bet the Bucs will be a 3 point favorite (possibly less if Glennon starts) and then the Bears will blast the Bucs in the package as the Bucs go for 0-8 at RJS. Jay Cutler has a game for the ages, write it down; this team is cursed, it is almost like they throw games away on purpose for Vegas purposes when you look at the mind numbing L’s to the Lambs and Raiders. Take away the fluke Ws on the road in division and I would venture that the Bucs could have got the #1 overall! Its disgusting Joe, there has to be some accountability but who do you go after if you are team Glazer: Koetter, his puppet DC Smith, the defensive secondary, or Jason Licht who suddenly has seemed to have had some of the worst drafts in this century under his belt when you look at all the busts he has already selected! Its going to be embarrassing when the Bucs take the field against Chicago to a crowd of 40K, of which 25-30K will be cheering for the 2 win Bears who will have 3 wins after the game is over. Want a sure fire way to make money? Bet against the Bucs everytime they play at RJS; if they are favored take the moneyline, if they are dogs, just play the spread; no brainer!

Safety safety safety! Number one priority in free agency. Draft the stud Dt from alabama # 1 pick jonathan allen then rslb tyan anderson… all of the players that have been drafted from saban defenses are still playing and making Splash plays all over the NFL.. nine players from Alabama last year on the defensive side in the playoffs..
Players from a winning culture need to be introduced back into this culture of losing losing losing…
We also need a big cornerback… and desperately need to find another receiver in the draft.

Considering who is making the draft decisions, does it really matter? I wish it were not so, but I do not see this team making a turn around under the current ownership.
