Louis Murphy Has A New Injury

Bad news for Louis Murphy.

He’s injured again and not practicing.

Dirk Koetter said Murphy, who is rehabbing from ACL surgery 11 months ago, “had a setback” but it’s an unrelated injury that Koetter did not detail.

However, if Murphy isn’t practicing, then it’s slowing his knee recovery. At this rate, Murphy won’t be reactivated when his 21-day practice window on the physically unable to perform list closes in about 10 days.

Rough break.

This is sad news for Murph.
Next man up! Where you at Shep?!

  2. Mike Johnson Says:

Murphy is just about done. He’ll come back allright..only to go down with something related to his original serious injury. There are not many..Adrian Petersons in this league. Some do come back strong. But once you keep going down…Either Give Murphy an injury settlement or cut him. Bucs need available ballers. NEXT!!!!!!

  3. Denver Buc fan Says:

    HEYYYY!!!

  4. Kobe Faker Says:

need some other players practicing sheps gunner position at special teams

we need him as the wr2

we need another game like last week and even koetter can see with his bifocals

screens/slants/sweeps/go routes…shep is going to go buc listic at rjs

    yup corny

kobe wants 2 wins and the division is ours!!

  5. tmaxcon Says:

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise….. Yet the fan boys argued he could be counted on… Laughable… Good luck Mr Murphy there is a lot of money to made in the insurance agency

  6. Pickgrin Says:

That sucks – we could use a healthy Murphy about now.

  7. Lebron Jameis Says:

No need to sign Anquan Boldin when you have the ace in the hole known as Louis Murphy, right?

Boldin’s probably got nothing left in the tank anyway. Let’s give Vince 10 million dollars and roll with Murphy and Kenny Bell.

This is how you stunt the growth of a young QB. Surround him with no weapons.

  8. mhall085 Says:

So, now is the time to take a chance on a trade. Torrey Smith, Alshon Jeffrey, or maybe even players like Michael Floyd or Kamar Aiken.

  9. Ed Says:

Humphries is a weapon except he’s in an offense that wants to push it downfield. His strength is getting open quickly underneath the other receivers, which is best suited for a quarterback with a quick release like Brady or Rogers. As far as Winston’s release, he will be be a more efficient QB when he learns to get rid of the ball faster.

Cameron Brate is also a weapon. Koetter did a great job coaching Matt Ryan to find his big TE in Atlanta. Winston can rely on Brate, he catches everything thrown his way.

Sheppard hasn’t gotten enough snaps or targets to know if he’s a weapon or not.

With Rogers getting 25-30 carries and Evans being targeted 15 times a game the other receivers are limited in making plays.

Winston needs to spread it around and give Humphries and Brate more balls.

  10. Kobe Faker Says:

LOL, just saw Koetter the clown PR

He is going to keep Shep as a rotational 20 snap part time player

    This idiot is unbelievable

he also said Martin is going to start and bypass over Quizz when he is to step on the field…

no slowly getting back to gamespeed/timeing/adjustments with the injury…Quizz is immediate backup

    LOL!

    Now you guys see?

We have the players and the talent in our lockerroom to make the playoffs and this coach wont make it happen…unfvkinbelievable

  11. dusthty rhothdes Says:

Licht is a clown GM, horrible moves and neglected most glaring weaknesses, now licht step up and go trade for alshon jeffrey or torrey smith and give jameis an nfl WR

  12. 813bucboi Says:

@kobe…if dirk was to indeed start martin out of the gate and rotate shep then your right he’s a idiot…hopefully he’s slightly smarter than the both of us give he credit for and he’s trying to keep things close to the vest….

you gotta ride the hot hand and right now shep and quizz are on fire….I would ease doug back in by putting him on a snap count….the last thing we need is for him to go out for another 4-6 weeks….shep is a different story…he deserves more snaps at the #2wr position….he plays hard, he’s reliable and it looks like he has some great chemistry with jameis….we’ll se how it goes but I believe we pull it out 28-24….GO BUCS!!!!

  13. Joe Says:

he also said Martin is going to start and bypass over Quizz when he is to step on the field…

If Martin is fully recovered, gonna have to explain in great detail how you’re going to bench a Pro Bowler a few months removed from a 1,000-yard season. Now if Martin underperforms when he returns and Rodgers is still blowing up, that’s a different story.

  14. Joe Says:

Licht is a clown GM, horrible moves and neglected most glaring weaknesses,

Let’s see, drafted Donovan Smith, traded up for Ali Marpet, signed Joe Hawley, drafted Kevin Pamphile, drafted Mike Evans, drafted Kwon Alexander on the third day, signed Brent Grimes, drafted Vernon Hargreaves.

Yup, truly “horrible” moves. Why, he’s the second-coming of Bruce Allen all right.

Has Licht made mistakes? Sure. His positives sure outweigh the negatives thus far. Big time!

  15. Erik w/ Clean Athletics & United Games - a new 'Interactive' Fantasy Sports app by the makers of Madden Football Says:

The stars seem to be aligning for Shep to get some regular playing time and I think he will blossom into a dynamic #2 WR.

Also, I love Quizzy and Barber as a 1-2 punch. I think Barber is a potential star as well.

Not missing Martin or Vjax at the moment, personally.

  16. Chris Says:

Joe is touchy today, like someon s…t in his oatmeal. I think Martin was already underperforming, and if trends are to be believe, in injury years, he’s like. 3.4 yrdca carry back. I hope we don’t sacrifice wins to make Doug happy by running him 20+ times for 70 yrds

  17. Mojiska Says:

Remember, koetter also said gmc would be on a play count. That ended up being almost every snap. I don’t think koetter will abandon quiz, but instead give Doug the chance of showing who he is. If he starts failing I would assume koetter will be quick to go back to quiz.

  18. Kobe Faker Says:

There is a report by cbsportsline that tampa licht has banks and verner for sale for a vet wr

Im guessing glazer need seats filled to pay for the video boards

  19. Chris Says:

Yeah but one fault of Koetters I see early on is stubborn to a fault. How many times did he continue to run Simms as a failed option? I hate to see us lose a game because we run a subpar Doug for 60 yrds. I don’t see him yanking Doug because of the finances of the matter

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Joe Says
“Let’s see, drafted Donovan Smith, traded up for Ali Marpet, signed Joe Hawley, drafted Kevin Pamphile, drafted Mike Evans, drafted Kwon Alexander on the third day, signed Brent Grimes, drafted Vernon Hargreaves.”

Wait a minute. Why is it that this head coach gets credit for Jason Licht drafts and the last coach didn’t????

  21. Lunchbox Says:

@Bonzai, who ever mentioned the coach? Joe was sticking up for Lichts moves as GM, you dope.

  22. Defense Rules Says:

I like Murph, but I really doubt we’ll see him on the field this season or any future season as a Buc for that matter. As far as trading TWO backup CBs for one WR goes, somehow doubt that’s a smart move. Bucs have 6 CBs on the roster right now, and going down to 4 CBs doesn’t seem smart (injuries do happen as we’ve learned far too often).

  23. unbelievable Says:

@Chris, let’s not forget he’s also a rookie HC in the NFL. There will most definitely be some growing pains at times. I think he’s still learning to walk the line between sticking to your plan, and adapting on the fly.

I agree 100% Quizz should have been getting way more touches starting in the Denver game. Many of us said that. However, at this point, I have faith Koetter will continue to get better and learn from those things. And honestly, if Doug isn’t running well I don’t think Koetter will be stubborn on that during a game. He knows wins are more important than other player’s touches.

  24. Pelbuc Says:

No Murph, Vjax and Martin, no problem. Shepard needs to be given a shot at no. 2 and he’s shown he can produce. Ayers needs to get back provide a pass rush. How void of leadership was this team that it took Quezz to show heart, leadership and grit when needed the most. Hope he stays healthy.

  25. DallasBuc Says:

Free pass Licht has no plan and is failing to put competitive NFL talent around our star QB.
But hey, think I’ll just have another JBF Jason Licht Kool Ale while highlighting all of his achievements and conveniently forgetting all of his massive screw ups so I can say confidently that “His positives sure outweigh the negatives. Big time!”
    Ahhh, that sure is delicious

  26. Tbbucs3 Says:

Humpries is no real threat at receiver, he’s best used as a role player. Anytime we play a good defense A-hump is no where to be found. As joe says, I would want him on my high school team.

  27. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Don’t forget what Da DOUGERNAUT did to the Raiders last time…………….250 yards rushing and 4 L L L O O O N N N G G G touchdowns! Their defense is no better than it was back then and neither is ours. Palmer ripped us apart back then and Carr will too. It will all come down to which defense makes the most score stopping plays. This game will once again be a high scoring game. Carr and Jameis will be the big difference because Carr can scramble and Jameus has Mike Evans. If we run ruffshod over them boys he will have a very good game because the Raiders will only be able to single cover ME13.
