Ayers, McDonald Out Sunday

October 21st, 2016
Bucs declare who is out Sunday.

Bucs declare who is out Sunday.

Son of a gun, it just doesn’t get much better, it seems.

Yet again, Robert Ayers and his ankle from hell will cost him another game. The Bucs have ruled him out for Sunday’s game at San Francisco.

Also out for the Bucs is defensive tackle Clinton McDonald and, as expected, running back Doug Martin. Previously, it was learned misplaced Calgary Stampeder Donteea Dye won’t play because he is out of shape.

Also, it is now official: the biggest offensive threat for the 49ers, running back Carlos Hyde, will not play Sunday.

Clinton McDonald is a beast when healthy but he hasn’t played a full season in Tampa yet.

Do we know any details to the extent of these injuries (him + Ayers)? Thought Ayers was practicing last week?

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo would be happy to suit up Sunday for Pablo’s Bucs…..Pablo has great speed (developed by running from boyfriends and husbands of Pablo’s many “Baby Mommas”…….no, Pablo didn’t develop speed running from ICE agents….Pablo is a proud American. If GMC doesn’t help Kaepernic up during the Anthem…..Pablo would help Colin up…..then Pablo would dispose of him like a dirty diaper”

  3. Joe Says:

Ayers discussed his injury a little.

McDonald has a hamstring injury. Those are always dicey.

  4. mhall085 Says:

So, bad news and good news…

The Niners have no running game without Hyde. Kaeperkick can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

Come on, Mike Smith! DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE! BEAT THIS AWFUL TEAM!

  5. Chris Says:

I just want the Jameis from game one back.

  6. Bucsfanman Says:

    Darn!
Next man up…….lets go saw Kap in half!!!

  7. Chris Says:

Well we should win. Hopefully Koetter has them better prepared for the West Coast lag. Doesn’t seem like anyone from Gruden to Lovie could . Hopefully with his West Coast experience he can get them focused.

  8. LargoBuc Says:

No excuse for our secondary not to help us win. SF has very few weapons.

  9. BucinJAX Says:

    Awesome Pablo!

  10. 813bucboi Says:

the combination of dirk taking it light in training camp mixed with the worse medical staff in the league is going to kill this team….GO BUCS!!!!

  11. Negative Jeff Says:

I am scared to death about this game. In fact, if the Bucs come in with the same mindset as Joe, thinking the Niners are hot garbage, they will lose for sure. I like the Niners 24-20.

  12. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

At least they are not going on I.R. I like both those players, and hope they are back next week at peak condition.

btw…are people here buying my books? I ask because I’ve had a huge boost in sales this week…like 1400 copies sold. If some of them are coming through my name link here, I’m buying ad space!

  13. rayjay1122 Says:

Regardless of injuries, we HAVE to win this game or else 6-10 may be a stretch. 49ers and Bears are winnable but I think we lose to Oakland and Atlanta this time. That would have us at 4-5 before a probable loss at KC 4-6. Next up is a home game VS Seattle which I do not see us winning.(4-7) Then we have the Chargers which we could defeat on the road, so I will predict a victory. (5-7) Next is the Saints twice sandwiching a certain loss to Dallas. I think we split with the Saints. 6-9 Finally the Panthers come to town probably seeking revenge and I think they will get it. 6-10 final record. Now if we can get some key players back, Winston gets more consistent and Aguayo figures out how to put the ball through the uprights in the NFL then maybe we steal a game or two. Based on what I have witnessed thus far, I think 6-10 is more realistic than 8-8 though. Not trying to be negative at all. Just being realistic based on the schedule.

  14. Supersam Says:

I’m smelling a trap game also. Bucs better have there heads on straight for this game. 49ers aren’t as bad as there record says.

  15. Lord Corn Says:

at least McCoy is back ? He’s easily the one I’d want back if given a choice..

  16. Seminole Bill Says:

I agree with Supersam. I remember from years past, when the Bucs went out to Oakland for a game expecting to dominate, and came back with a big loss. Now we’re going to Ninerland expecting to win big. The Bucs seem always to play better against the better teams – then stumble against the weak ones.

  17. Kevin Says:

What happens every time the Bucs play a game they should win…

    They LOSE!!!!!

  18. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @rayjay1122

You may be right, but it all depends on how they come out of this bye week. I’ve been predicting all along that they would come out strong, but I did not foresee all these injuries and losing VJ.

Assuming we get our main players back by next week at the latest, and Humphries and Murphy can step up, along with our TEs and OL…a lot to ask, I know…here are my remaining hopes in each game:

vs 49ers – Win…maybe by skin of teeth because of the injuries.

vs Raiders – Win. I actually think we might beat them. Our injured will mostly be back by that game (barring something else happening)

vs Falcons – Win…but a dog fight. I think we are going to slam the Saints and Falcons this year. With split wins over the Panthers, who knows what possibilities will be open to us.

    vs Bears – Win.

vs Chiefs – Loss, although I’m hoping the string of wins will fire up the team and I’ll be wrong on this one.

vs Seahawks – Loss. They have our number.

vs Chargers – Win. Against the team with the first pick in the draft.

    vs Saints – Win.

vs Cowboys – Loss…unless Romo is playing.

    vs Saints – Win.

    vs Panthers – Loss.

That would put us at 9-7.

Will my hopes be dashed? Possibly. So much rides on so many things for this to happen.

  19. GhostofTedford Says:

rayjay1122, I agree to an extent with your prognostications. However, I see that last game as Carolina losing to get a better draft selection. Sort of what we did in 2014. I would not put it past the Saints either to return the favor from 2014. I see us at 8-8.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

How they come out of the bye week is a good indication. Even and ugly win this week is a good thing. Especially since we get some more injured guys back next week.

    Can Koetter refocus them?

We’ve seen it with other teams. A new HC goes into a bye, makes some adjustments and boom…they start winning big.

Never has happened with us…but it has to at some point, right?

    Right?

  21. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If the Bucs pull off that schedule I just said I hope for, then I think that last game will be a battle to make the playoffs. Panthers will want to keep us out. Falcons will be hoping we lose.

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Also, keep in mind…we had some tough opponents these first 5 games. Not so much going forward (except for a few).

  23. GhostofTedford Says:

    @Buccaneer Bonzai.

I hope your right, but we did beat the Cowboys last year here at home (One of the few bright spots last year) and that was with Lovie-Dovies super prevent tampa 2 bastardization game plan. So to me that game may actually be closer than we think. I said previously 8-8 but now maybe 9-7.

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Falcons have 5 tough looking games left. We have 3. (by appearances). Could make all the difference in the world.

  25. cmurda Says:

@Bonzai. I admire the lofty predictions.

SD is not going to have the first pick in the draft. They are better than you think and even their defense stepped up to beat the Broncos. The same Broncos team that smoked us in Tampa.

With that said, with Cam or not, the Panthers stink. We should win that game if this team is capable of beating the Niners, Raiders, Falcons & Bears.

I agree with the Cowboys. Speaking of having our number. They could bring Aikman back and still likely beat us.

The only place our predictions differ is San Diego and one of the Saints games. I think we lose one of those Saints games and I think we beat the Panthers.

I got us going 8-8 which quite frankly would make me happy. That’s how sad it has become.

  26. rayjay1122 Says:

    @Bonzai

I hope your predictions come true especially the wins vs the Saints since I will be at the Saints game in New Orleans and a victory will make my vacation that much better. I think the Raiders game will be a loss because the Raiders have played pretty well, are 4-2 and in 1st place in the AFC West then we have to turn around on a short week and play the Falcons on Thursday night. That will be a lot to ask to get a 4 game winning streak during that period. Time will tell. 8-8 sure would look better than 6-10.

  27. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Heck, 7-9 would make me happy if there is visual improvement as the year progresses.

  28. Clodhopper Says:

Jeezus!!!! Waiting for Ayers to heal up was like waiting to lose my virginity. I kept thinking any day now. Any day. Then we kicked in the nuts week after week!! Such a tease!!!

  29. rayjay1122 Says:

I absolutely agree Bonzai. Regardless of the final record, I also want to see improved play week to week.

  30. Buccaneer scotty Says:

7-9 is the best I see us IF everything goes good possibly 4-wins if not!

  31. rayjay1122 Says:

The comments above have been really good for the most part. It is refreshing to have some good realistic takes for a change. Thanks everyone!!! Happy Weekend!!! Go Bucs!!!

  32. Warrenfb12 Says:

So much for that bye week getting the bucs healthy. Should McCoy sit this game out? I’m thinking he should.

  33. Buccfan37 Says:

The 49ers are fairly stinky looking up beside the other stinky teams in comparison. This game looks like a tossup. Go Bucs! Climb the non stinky ladder.

  34. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    No surprises on the list.

And Pablo..I need to write a Best Of Pablo blog..lol..

And for DD to be out of shape..didn’t Quiz say yesterday in his radio show that it is very important to stay in football shape year round? even if you’re not on a team???

  35. Mike Johnson Says:

One game at a time guys. We gotta beat the 49ers 1st. You all know our curse. The games we are suppose to win we..fubar! 49ers will play desperate and hard at home. Bucs gotta go in with bigtime attitude..a must win mentality. Remember, there are no easy games for this Bucs team.

  36. Dewey Selmon Says:

J.R. Sweezy can’t believe these guys aren’t ready to play yet.

  37. Guzzie Says:

Big surprise most of our injured players are older, kinda like old players take longer to heal and get injured more often huh, good thing we didn’t sign only older players last offseason

  38. Spacebuc Says:

    Pound the Rock!
    Keep kaeperdick on the sidelines

  39. Ndog Says:

Joe needs to change the name of this site to negative bucs fans.

  40. cmurda Says:

Man, this is not what I had in mind when Koetter was hopeful to get everyone back after the bye. Much like USF, it seems everybody is out on Sunday.

  41. Buccfan37 Says:

The game could come down to a game winning kick by Aguayo. Talk about suspense.

  42. James Walker Says:

Doug Martin got paid and then got hurt on a play that was imperceptible to the coaches and has missed over a month? He reminds me of what I like to call my cat.

  43. D-Rome Says:

btw…are people here buying my books? I ask because I’ve had a huge boost in sales this week…like 1400 copies sold. If some of them are coming through my name link here, I’m buying ad space!

A week ago I downloaded A Storm of Dragons off of Amazon for free. I don’t know how that happened. I went through Amazon’s Kindle application on my Nook tablet. Hopefully Amazon credited you in some way. If you didn’t get any credit let me know and I’ll pay. I just want you to be aware I did not steal it.

It’s a good read so far. You should be proud.
