Donteea Dye Is Out Sunday
October 21st, 2016Joe has argued that Bucs wide receiver Donteea Dye has no business in the NFL.
Some believe otherwise.
But for this Sunday, it is Dirk Koetter who believes Dye isn’t ready and Dye will sit out the Bucs’ clash in San Francisco. Per the Twittering of Tampa Bay Times beat writer Rick Stroud, Koetter says Dye isn’t yet in NFL game shape.
Dye was signed off the street Monday to the Bucs’ practice squad, and he replaced injured Vincent Jackson on the active roster a day later.
Dye had 11 catches and a touchdown last year. America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, threw the ball Dye’s way 30 times.
No, Joe is not concerned that Dye’s absence will affect the offense. On a funny note, Joe heard former Tampa Tribune Bucs beat writer Roy Cummings this morning say, via Buccaneers.com, that Dye would be an impact No. 2 receiver for the Bucs because he is a threat to take the top off a defense and can help open things up for underneath routes. … Joe really enjoyed that laugh.
Look for Adam Humphries to get a lot of work as an outside receiver Sunday, certainly much more than he’s used to getting.

whatever happened to that WR we claimed from the ravens?
October 21st, 2016 at 12:08 pm
They to him go and he is on jets
October 21st, 2016 at 12:09 pm
Jeremy Butler, we waived him and the jets signed him. I would expect to see shorts if healthy on the outside if not Shepard. I doubt we see much of hungriest playing outside
October 21st, 2016 at 12:10 pm
Humpries* he is the hungriest though lol

Dye does have legit speed. His problem last year was terrible hands.
Now he’s not in football shape? #itsabucslife
October 21st, 2016 at 12:28 pm
Humphries on the outside? I doubt it. He is the slot receiver.

shorts and shepard outside…
October 21st, 2016 at 12:43 pm
i think koetter the clown is going to break his record…
19 straight run plays
When Rodgers land back in Tampa he will be 5′ 2″
Im predicting minimum 2 run plays after timeouts

even a deep threat with bad hands sets things up for the offense. the league has its share of guys like Ted Ginn, Torrey Smith, Sammie Coates, and Drew Brees’ army of interchangable deep threats over the years who have a had important roles in good offenses because of their legs more than their hands. They give guys with less speed some more room underneath, and if they ever do hang on to the ball they can have monster days

@joe im still trying to understand your beef with dd. He was from a d3 school last year that was thrust into becoming a starter. Shouldnt that be your boy jason lichts shortcoming?

I’ve had enough of this circus.
October 21st, 2016 at 1:37 pm
DYE??????????? Really that’s the best we can find on the street…
For the love of all that is Holy….isn’t Rice looking to make a come back or my grandmother anyone but DYE

Butler was cut to make room for R. Hansbough for the Panthers game. Only to cut Hansborough a day after the game. Butler was gone, they signed RH back to PS.
October 21st, 2016 at 1:46 pm
TO said that he hasn’t retired yet and still feels like he can play in the league. Lol.

You people know we are one win away from being .500 right? And that is with our entire starting D line down, our top two running backs down, our starting TE going nuts, our # two WR down and our lead full back/TE blocker down, and running a brand new defense. How can you people be so negative with what this team has gone through so far when we still have a shot at .500 this week?
October 21st, 2016 at 2:06 pm
Well said ndog.
October 21st, 2016 at 2:14 pm
this is nuts…..GO BUCS!!!
October 21st, 2016 at 2:17 pm
I’d be more upset if Dye could catch consistently. He was on our PRACTICE SQUAD for a reason.
Navarro Bowman is out for the Niners. THROW TO BRATE. ALL DAY.
We may not be good, but this Niners team is awful. Get the win. Go to 3-3.
October 21st, 2016 at 2:25 pm
Question: If he isn’t ready, then why pull him off the practice squad?
Don’t they practice with the rest of the team?
October 21st, 2016 at 2:26 pm
@ndog
Very well said. But…these are Tampa fans you are talking about.

What a disaster! Even if the Bucs win on Sunday the team is not going to improve offensively over the course of the season. The WR position was a concern during the off-season, pre-season, and now. Too bad the GM didn’t have enough foresight to address the issue properly.

You know saying that infers that you are walking away from the tream. Are you really prepared to do that or are you just blowing off steam?

So you are saying that Humphries most certainly will not get better at his position, that the return of injured players will not make the offense better, and that no young player will step up?
October 21st, 2016 at 2:56 pm
Time for Jason Liar to step it up. He is the general Mngr all of you love..right? Find a WR from somewhere. Hell, birth one!
October 21st, 2016 at 3:05 pm
Humphries isn’t anything more than a slot receiver (there’s nothing wrong with that), Cecil Shorts and Louis Murphy will never be better than what they have been, and what has anyone seen out of Russell Shepard to believe he’ll be more than what he has been? I’m left wondering who that potential guy on the roster is that will step up.
October 21st, 2016 at 3:06 pm
Because there’s so many gameday-ready WRs walking the street… Complain complain complain……….. Dye has a chance to help because he at least knows the offense…. And Joe’s opinion that Dye is not an NFL caliber player is crap – I think Koetter and Licht’s opinions hold a little more water… but Joe has to have a punching bag.

I got two words for next year Shelton Gibson go look at the tape.
October 21st, 2016 at 3:18 pm
Who wastes more of our time, Kobe Faker or Mike Johnson?
October 21st, 2016 at 7:12 pm
If Humphries is playing the outside, he better be running slants, outs, and flats because Jameis cannot connect with him downfield
