“No Setback Or Anything Like That”
October 21st, 2016Good news and bad news from injured Robert Ayers, Tampa Bay’s “naturally pissed off” defensive end.
Ayers chatted on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night and said his bad left ankle, messed up in the first half against Arizona in Week 2, is doing great.
“No setback or anything like that,” Ayers said. The 31-year-old veteran added that he’s had setbacks with injuries in previous seasons, including his four-week hamstring problem with the Giants last year. That was supposed to be just a two-week issue, he said.
So Ayers is progressing very well — except he hasn’t practiced all week. This just illustrates how bad that ankle (sprain?) is. It’s been 33 days since Ayers suffered the injury.
Ayers praised the Bucs’ training staff for being fantastic and very communicative. With the Bucs facing the Raiders’ high-octane attack in nine days, an Ayers return would be such a welcome sight.

“LOL! , Is Ayers yapping tough BS from the training table again?”
New York Giants Defense
“Shhhh, quiet guys. Michael Johnson and Anthony Collins told me about this place. JR Sweezy knows about it too. You have a good year and this dumba$$ GM will give you twice as much then anyone and you just chill for the whole year in sunny tampa. You heal and mend up and play for a real team the next year.”
Robert Ayers
“You dont even have to have a good year”

Definetly not the 70s or 80s football. Now, they’re a more guys on the sidelines and whirlpools than on the field. This team is soft, no matter how much Ayers talks.

Could care less what he says. Let’s be honest… he’s looking like just another in a long line of free agent/draft failures at the defensive end position that dates back all the way to Simeon Rice. The Bucs may have the worst (or close to it) DE and WR cores in the league now. That is not a recipe for success in a league that is ALL about passing and getting to the QB to stop it.

IR him, IR Martin, anybody that’s missing multiple games. What’s the point, when they’re (ready) the season will be over anyways.

Bite me unbelievable. It’s unbelievable some of you sing Barney songs while watching the train wreck we’ve had for 15 yrs. I’ve been a fan of a team that’s been in the NFC South basement for the last 5 yrs, what team have you been rooting for . And a team that outside of a 5 yr run with Dungy and Gruden, has been atrocious for much of its 40 years of existence
October 21st, 2016 at 2:13 pm
Nope, no singing over here— I get frustrated and pissed off at every pathetic, should-have-won-but-we-lost game I watch. Along with season after season of missed opportunities, blown games, and perpetual losing.
But I’m also realistic about this team. I can see there is a plan in place and we still need more pieces. I can see we are ravaged by injuries this year already so you have set expectations. You can keep changing coaches and GMs and schemes every 2 years and purging half the roster and will never get anywhere.
You on the other hand, like Kobe and some others, b!tch and complain and overreact about every single thing, every single day. Ayers can’t play yet? Well put him on IR then! Even though we still have 11 games left. SMDH at the stupidity of statements like that. And you make statements like that every day so…
October 21st, 2016 at 2:31 pm
@unbelievable- That’s Buc-land for you! We wonder why we are so bad even after we try to jettison every decent player on the roster so that we can get draft picks! Oh, and coach, by the way, you have 2 years to turn around a talent-less 2-14 and 6-10 team. Year 3 we’ll hire another coach and start all over.
Hey Ayers, rub some dirt on it and get in the game! We need you! You too Doug!

I was gonna ask… Are all Tampa fans cry babies?? Sure seems like it

Michael “Ghost” Johnson was more productive after five games.

This is not the Bucs who..won a superbowl. Who..played with lotsa injuries. Six weeks sprained ankle? Man, what kind of trainers/PT guys we got?!!
But then again, We are..The Bucs.

guess you do not attend the games. He drags that leg around in that cast like a ton of bricks! hes out till week 8

Third degree sprains can be pretty bad. I played some basketball with friends and came down from trying to grab a rebound. While my foot stayed put, my leg bent completely to the ground. Instead of rolling my ankle on the outside of the foot, it was the inside. Was told I’d be on crutches for 4 weeks. Being 17, I was off them within 2 weeks, but being 30 now I know that I already recover slower.

I was hopeful about the Ayers signing this offseason….but once again the Bucs get bit by the FA bust tornado. Ayers was decent game 1 and that is about it. 12M for one game of action….this guy needs to tape it up and get on the field.
I mention this every once in a while but I truly believe that this franchise is in losing hell until the Glazers sell the team. The Glazer boys simply are not getting it done like Malcom did when he reigned. His sickness/death and the Bucs sucking are in correlation. I still think owning multiple Pro teams is a bad idea and impossible to manage.

Free agency….
October 21st, 2016 at 6:13 pm
Free agent?
Come to Tampa where free agents get paid for nothing.
October 21st, 2016 at 6:45 pm
Come to Tampa and lay out in the gorgeous sun on the beaches. Smoke a bowl with Easy Sweezy. Back up to the Buc injury pay window. Get your money for nothing and your chicks for free (opps I meant a price!)

Buc -it ! Welcome to the new NFL where everyone gets paid no matter what, the players , the coaches , the management and the owners especially all get paid big time and the fans get screwed ! Except if you live in select cities around the league that pull in the most dough! only those teams get to enjoy the fruits of consistent winning ! Wise up suckers it’s all a big con job ! 2002 was a Fluke , The Glazeirs more then likely paid the NFL to win a super bowl in order to generate more interest so they could make the most of a very lucrative opportunity ! Why else would they force people to buy seat licenses for ten years while they had a decent run
