Winston does not throw the deep sideline route very well. Almost always overthrown. The mid range pass 15-18 yards in the middle of the field he throws as well as anybody in the league. The only pass he throws consistently.

This is the best defense in the league ladies, save your panicking, anyone that pays any attention knows this is going to be most likely a bad game for Winston – they do this to everyone. Noah Spence? Not on the field once. Mike Smith is a clown. I can care less about those Mike Smith believers, and their be patient comments. Charles Simms is a great running back, and by great I mean as a 3rd down receiving running back. He’s not an every down player and he’s hurting the team playing in that role. They need to use Rodgers or whoever else they signed this week as the lead, put Simms back into the role he does so well.

Jason – Hardy is an absolute piece of trash, just go read on what he actually did, it’s not like he got mad and smacked someone, he was about 500000x worse than that. If we’re going to lose ASJ over a DUI, you can’t hire the worst piece of trash in the NFL. However considering how bad Carolina has been playing I wouldn’t rule out the Bucs – but then again if they sit in this soft zone the Panthers will score 48 points, however that doesn’t mean the Bucs will be out of it considering how bad the Panthers defense has been. But on the road, that normally means terrible game.

Anyone else think that Winston just isn’t that good? Maybe with time he will be, but looks like it’s the same concerns I had with him coming out of college. I know everyone wanted to crown him last year, but even then I thought he didn’t play that well the moment Doug Martin struggled. I wrote it up as being a rookie, but seems its still the case. The moment he doesnt’ get 100+ yards from his backs he throws picks like crazy just like he is known for. They praised him for hitting VJax in triple coverage but that’s the kind of throws I’d rather he didn’t throw.

Haha… the lack of intelligence in the commenting here is remarkable. You have dolts complaining about Jameis making risky plays, then complaining when he holds onto the ball because there is no one open, but he protects the ball.
Do you get dolts, there is no one open, he has pressure in his face almost instantly, any play Winston makes is risky, period. If you have no running game, your offensive line isn’t all that good, and you only have one good WR, this is what happens. Anything Winston does is good – getting worried about TO is a worthless cause, he must take chances all game if the team is to have any chance.

I don’t know what to say. All offseason we hear all this optimism, and then stuff like what’s happening now shows up. When will this misery STOP?! I’m a Bucs Fan till the day I die, but at times the Bucs are just hard to watch. The only thing I can hope for is that Jameis’s confidence and leadership doesn’t diminish. He’s probably lost sleep with this stuff happening. Dirk Koetter of course is also a key piece we need to keep. By the way, does anybody here see the future for the next few seasons?

It’s true Jameis has a lot of pressure and coverage is great down field, but there’s generally always some sort of check down option and he’s also been inaccurate. He needs to stop trying to throw down field every play and take the underneath routes that are there until they at least get into rhythm. Perhaps the play calling could be adjusted to allow more of those routes as well.

No, they don’t suck, the defense is that good. Looks and sounds like a home game for Denver. The defense gave up since America’s qb can’t do anything correctly. Our offensive line sucks. Our defensive backs couldn’t cover their grandmother. We make an instant star out of a quarterback who never played a down in the NFL. Complete failure with revamped Mike Smith no defense. We will pick first next year and still won’t be enough. Being a lifelong Buc fan I will be ridiculed for another year for believing this team was improving. Far from it. We are horrific with a terrible , inconsistent qb with a sorry offensive line and no running game. Maybe next year, or next decade more likely.

Thomas Branham – Yeah the problem is you’re playing the best defense in the league, as in one of the all-time great defenses. The Rams have pretty much completely shutdown Palmer. Meanwhile the Cardinals are hit and miss depending on the week. Next week we play Carolina. Anyone that paid attention to the schedule knew Winston would most likely have a rough start to the year, with 2 away games in a row to start including a west coast trip, then facing 3 of the best defenses in a row after that. Everything is going to be fine, get to the bye, everything settle downs, Bucs start putting up big numbers (although the defense will still suck).
Everyone needs to chill out, if you watch or know anything about football you knew what was coming this week. You could hope for the best, but if you were the least bit reasonable you knew this would almost certainly be a terrible game.

Whether some of you ‘fans’ recognize it or not, Bucs DLine played their guts out today against the SB champs. Ayers – out. Jack Smith – out. GMC – out. Noah Spence – out. That left us with 2 starters (McDonald & Gholston) and 4 backups. Three turnovers, multiple sacks, critical drive-killing penalties, and no run game weren’t on the defense.

Buc1987 – If these dolts don’t realize this is the best defense in the league, a truly elite defense that does this to everyone, then they’re not worth talking to. Just insult these dopes, they’re too boring to take seriously and they know almost nothing about the game – thus the reason their comments sound like those of a whiny 7 year old.

I also thought they needed to win that game because of the beat down they were going to take this week.

Denver’s D is good. Jameis is also not very good. The two things are not mutually exclusive. The two picks were terrible, Mark Sacnhez level bad.

Defense Rules – Defense didn’t play bad, but terrible play calling. Bucs would play man to man on 1st and 2nd down, d-line would make plays, would be 3rd and long and the Bucs go into a soft zone. They did the same thing last week as well and repeatedly gave up long 1st downs. The effort is there, at least as far the players go, I’m not sure about the effort of coaches when they’re punting from the Broncos 46 on 4th and 6 down by what, 3 scores? Coaching again let the team down, but it is a new defense – a new defense that remarkably has the exact same issues as last year, and that’s having no NFL caliber safeties, and they added in Grimes who is playing remarkably bad.

They are garbage stats when he didn’t have to work for them. Basically he is throwing to wide open players because the prevent defense keeps everything in front of them and doesn’t let anyone get deep. We got to the 4 yard line the same way, PREVENT! And that is why he couldn’t get in the endzone. I like how you think you know everything and everyone else is stupid. My point is he shouldn’t have had 405 yards in the first place. You can keep making excuses for Winston but I am NOT buying it, I know better. Watched enough QB’s be called franchise QB’s that don’t deserve it. What will you say next?

The rain hasn’t even got to the stadium yet, this is hilarious. This is a very slow moving line, once it hits the stadium it’s going to be there for a while, tons of lightning. Game would have been over if they had just played. Love that this is means the Broncos will be delayed for hours.

BigStinky – Learn what garbage time stats mean – it’s when you’re out of a game and just racking up big plays because the other team isn’t even playing because you’re down by 30. See Bortles last year in Jacksonville, that was garbage time stats. It’s not garbage time stats when you have the ball with a chance to win the game at the 4 yard line, and if your coach wasn’t a dolt and actually called timeouts you’d have had the time to get it in and win the game.

The stadium is saying a 45 min delay? Huh? Looking at the radar the entire reason they delayed the game is the storm that isn’t even at the stadium yet, tons of rain and lightning very slowly moving towards the stadium still – not falling apart.

I knew we wouldn’t win this game but it should ONLY be 13-7 right now if JW didn’t throw an INT into double coverage twice. There wasn’t even pressure on him on those 2 plays, he just was forcing it. Now I can’t believe he played good enough to beat Atlanta in week 1. We will see how he does after the bye against the 49’ers and the Raiders I guess. Go BUCS!

@ everyone else: This just shows who are the true fans of this team. We are a bad football team. There is not a single doubt about that. Jameis’s character and heart are unquestionable. His talent… is TBD. But we just played arguably one of the best defenses in the league and we were tore up. The holes are glaring. A lot of the points mentioned are valid others dumbfound me. Fans… Take it on the chin and look forward to next week.
On a side note… I am sick of GMC. Yes is he a good player? sure when he is healthy. Which is very rare. I am almost ready to say, trade his butt for a quality safety and a pick. Before he gets too old and tears something that will effect his worth. Ladies and gentlemen… Take some ativan and if you’re into the heavy stuff propofol and calm the heck down.

Jameis Winston “America’s not really that good of a quarterback” On a Buccaneers team that’s not very good either = maybe 4-12. he might be a good leader high football IQ. some day he may be a good assistant coach. I don’t see what so many people see. Hope he proves me wrong. when they wanted to draft him number one over all i was not for it. Right now he is below average at best. if he gets pressured he sucks. he’s not ready o handle it at the NFL level. It looks like he’s trying to compete but his talent level just isn’t there. At least not yet.

I hate how our players are all smiles after these games… That’s the f’n losing culture. I’m not sure about any of you. But when all the teams I played for College, and high school to include FL rugby when we lost. There weren’t too many smiles.
