Jameis Has His Talib Orders
September 29th, 2016It pains many Bucs fans to admit that helmet-wielding, cabbie-slugging, Adderrall-popping, coach-cussing, referee-charging, pistol-friendly, granny-hassling Aqib Talib is an elite NFL cornerback.
Forget Talib’s Super Bowl ring and the nine times he’s picked off a pass and ran it back for a touchdown (Ronde Barber did it eight times. Derrick Brooks has six), Talib is simply a guy at the top of his game benefitting from a ferocious Broncos pass rush.
And those Broncos are in Tampa on Sunday.
Yesterday, Joe asked Dirk Koetter if America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is supposed to be aware of Talib’s whereabouts — or any elite corner — or is Jameis just supposed to play his game and run through his progressions?
Koetter said Jameis is, in fact, coached on staying aware of cornerback superstars.
“Yes, that’s the stuff we work on during the week,” Koetter said. “Sometimes you’re going to go at him, sometimes you’re going to – all corners have weaknesses and we study the film. [Quarterbacks Coach] Mike Bajakian and Jameis, Mike Glennon, ‘Griff’ [Ryan Griffin], those guys are working on that all the time. You can’t just totally stay away from him. You can move your guys, try to stack them, give them different splits, move your guys in motion, get them in the slot. There’s a lot of things you can do, but there are other instances where we do try to avoid certain guys.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Talib shadowns Mike Evans all across the field. Hey, If Joe was coordinating the Broncos’ defense, then Joe sure would enter Sunday’s game with the attitude: Make Vincent Jacskson beat me.

IMO a heavy dose of Sims, Brate & Humphries is in order…
And, somehow our Defense needs to perform much better.

Doesn’t pain me. He always had the talent. Unfortunate that he was troubled like he was
September 29th, 2016 at 11:50 am
Its doesnt pain me either. You see Talib plays man coverage on a real defense. Had he stayed here we woukd still be playing soft zone and hed be getting wrongfully burned jusy like Verner last week. At least he is in a place that knows how to utilize his talents. Our DC IS making Grimes, Verner and Banks look lime undrafted fas off the scrap pile. Its a shame

I’ve decided that the next two weeks are good times to go in to self preservation mode as a Bucs fan. I’m not anticipating good play. They’ll be struggling a lot and I’m not going to let it get to me. Nobody thought that we had a chance to win these two games and, given how we played against a bad team last week, there’s no reason to believe that we’ll do anything to change those opinions. I’ll reinvest after the bye week and look for the team to come out of it healthier and ready to take on a slate of teams that we have a shot at beating.

lol Patrick kind of like being numb if things go bad and you know they will.
This team is still developing and these next 2 look bleak.
I’m still kind of hoping for an upset in 1 of the next 2 weeks though…hoping not expecting and there’s a big difference.
September 29th, 2016 at 12:21 pm
Lol Patrick those are my sentiments exactly. Although it appears this team is much worse than I thought coming into the season, especially the defense. I don’t think many games after the bye will be winnable, but we will probably pull out a couple of upsets and finish with 3-5 wins. The next two losses won’t bother me though because I know they are not winnable and it will be nice to not get upset for the next two Sunday’s at least.

By the time his career is over he will have a Hall of Fame worthy career. He has more interceptions, more interception return yards, and more pick sixes than Darelle Revis.
September 29th, 2016 at 12:26 pm
There will be no upset. SB champs DO NOT lose to slugs like the Bucs. My biggest fear is that Winston gets hurt. The Bucs only have a mathmatical chance of winning. Asteroid planet strking odds here, folks. Bucs will be a robust 1-4 heading into the bye and should settle in with a 5-11 record at the end of the year. This is a good thing. It means they have a better chance of getting an impact player in the draft. People, this team is bottom 5 in the league based on talent with middle of the road coaches. What elese should we expect?
September 29th, 2016 at 12:29 pm
Sorry we got rid of Talib. Always played well. Of course I’m sorry we got rid of Revis & Blount also.
September 29th, 2016 at 12:34 pm
Sucks we got rid of Steve Young also.
September 29th, 2016 at 12:36 pm
I’m also worried about Jameis getting hurt. This is going to be a beat down and than pass rush is ferocious. I would almost prefer to send Glennon out this Sunday, concede the game, and keep Jameis out of harms way.

It would be awesome to have a cb other teams avoided
September 29th, 2016 at 12:42 pm
Touchdowntampabay- what a loser mentality that fits with the culture of this team

Scare money — can’t make money.#BucUpSon

Ron Rico, yea I remember, left handed quarterbacks can’t make it in the NFL. The ball spins the wrong way, and the oline would have to block backwards. Can’t succeed. Who was it that said those things? Was that Perkins?
September 29th, 2016 at 12:47 pm
Outside of running the GotDamnBall 4 once.
Koetter has to move ME13 around in this game.
That’s how U take advantage of the matchup.

Lol – Time 2 knockout that honey do list brotha.

Who am I? Been a Buccaneers fan since ’76. Yeah, I was there when our team returned from it’s first ever NFL victory, against Strams’ Saints. Watched our team exit the buses at One Buc. So long ago. Also watched our beloved team hoist the Lombari Trophy after SB 37. I heard “In the bay with John McKay!”, and “Execution? I’m in favor with it.” Look, it’s been a long and sometimes painful rise to the top, but here’s what I say, “If it was easy, every team would have a SB win. We do, and there are plenty other fans who envy ours.” Stop hating, be faithful and remember, to the victor go the spoils. I love my Buccaneers, and that will never change.

This talk is crazy!! I don’t care what happened last week! We can beat this Team. The Mentality this town has is unbelievable!! Let’s Go BUCS!! Carolina is 1-2, Buffalo beat Arizona. Anything can happen on Sunday’s!! Just saying.
September 29th, 2016 at 1:52 pm
Long 2 weeks ahead, the bucs will give up at least 1 TD on the offense I just hope jameis doesnt get killed by von miller this week, because that would be the biggest blow of the season and future, the bucs are just an over matched team on both sides of the ball and have no faith in conte getting near sanders nor thomas, who will have field days like evry other WR, you could start CJ, sanders, and thomas on fan duel and make some money this week, 7-9 and this was a big loss
September 29th, 2016 at 1:58 pm
Tampa should have kept Talib, and Blount, and yes, even ASJ. We seem to be more interested in fielding a team of Choirboys, then in putting real talent on the field.
September 29th, 2016 at 2:08 pm
Talib? Shalib! ME will beat him at least once before halftime. Bucs 22, HorsesAss 17.
September 29th, 2016 at 4:29 pm
^^^^^^Bucs 22 HorsesAss 17……Now that is a sidesplitting take.
September 29th, 2016 at 4:37 pm
Two thoughts about Talib. Yes the Denver pass rush is why he blossomed.
Can someone tell me why Bill Belicheat let Talib go if he was all that? Why did he let Revis go as well? Does Belicheat believe cornerbacks are overrated? He didn’t even sniff at Josh Norman either. Still hard to go nuts over the Bucs cutting a player that the Pats picked up…got some use and then dumped. Why?
Of course they can go at Talib. Again because we’ve sucked the past two weeks everybody is focused on the suckitude instead of some of our good players…excepting Realist, Defense Rules and a few others.
So everybody remembers that Patrick Petersen picked that first TD attempt from #3 to ME…but I haven’t read much about the fact that neither #3 nor ME backed down and ended up burning that very same Petersen for a TD the next time they tried.
We can beat Talib.

@st Pete
Because that hip always got hurt during the biggest games
September 30th, 2016 at 12:13 am
Do all you BANDWAGON FANS out there even watch these games that you guarantee to we are going to lose?
September 30th, 2016 at 3:08 am
Aqib Talib is just another former Buccaneer who if were still in Tampa could join Darrelle Rivas, Michael Bennett, Mark Barron as the former players who went on to Pro Bowl seasons. One wonders how well ASJ is going to do?
September 30th, 2016 at 7:17 am
Talib is a horrible human being. I’d rather lose football games than have him on our team. Glad he’s gone. St Pete is right, Talib is a mental midget that is easily taken off his game. Roddy White owned him every time we played the Falcons. Roddy would talk trash to Talib, Talib would want to fight, and Roddy would keep smoking him over and over. We can beat Talib.
