Wants the right mix of fans
Bucs home games aren’t typical across the NFL.
Sometimes, often times, there are way too many fans of the visiting team in the house. It happens every eyar, and it can feel like they’re right on top of the players. Perhaps most glaring was the Bucs’ last playoff game in January 2008. The Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway must have been 50 percent Giants blue.
That could be a factor in why the Bucs have the worst home record in the NFL since Chucky was fired.
Regardless, playing at home represents a huge boost for the Bucs, head coach Dirk Koetter said during his weekly pregame chat on Buccaneers.com.
Koetter, however, said he’d like to see the stadium feel a little more like home.
“It especially does our guys good when they see a lot of Buccaneers jerseys in the crowd. And, you know, let’s keep those foreign jerseys out of the lower bowl. Let’s make those people sit up in the nosebleeds,” Koetter said.
Joe loves Koetter’s idea to force fans sporting gear of the visiting team to sit upstairs. The Tampa Bay Lightning have enacted a similar policy.
Joe is not trying to punish the good folks in the 300 level, but it’s a good idea to keep as many non-Bucs fans away from the Bucs sidelines as possible.
Don’t expect many Rams fans in the house on Sunday, but there should be plenty of Broncos faithful sporting way too much Denver gear on Oct. 2.

Well if your defense keeps looking like the super midfet squad at the skyway fields, its gonna be less and less red jerseys in the stand. Better get on your boy koetter and tell him to tighten up

I heard alot of the nirthern “traditional” NHL markets enact a similar policy as the one the Bolts adopted the last two years. Yet we only here about when Tampa does it because Tampa us filled with bandwagon morons who don’t know as much about hockey as someone from up north could. HA! I hate snowbirds.

Kevin, you are right. Last week, Koetter did not have his team prepared, focused or ready to play. That loss is on h as much as any player. And I hope he responds as well as we all think he will.

I’ll be at the game sitting in the lower bowl. I’m looking forward to seeing all the changes at Ray Jay first hand.

Win Dirk, just win and the bandwagon transplants who live here and support their northern teams will embrace the team. Continue to lose like Lovie and the stadium will be split.
Team has been bad for too long to get the casual fans on board

Agree somewhat but not with the fact that Lightning fans are morons. Women at Lightning games know far more hockey than some men know football at NFL games.
Here is why this is a huge problem for Tampa teams!!!
How many of you would plan a trip to watch a team playing Minnesota..Pittsburgh..Chicago…Cincinnati..I could go on.
Folks in those cities see a two fer! Get to see their team AND get to sample paradise. What makes this a great place to live also makes it tough for our sports teams.
Mix in the fact that we have soooo many transplants who show up in their old cities jerseys and that exacerbates the problem.
I once sold one of our season tickets to the Lightning because my wife couldn’t attend. The guy who purchased the seat has lived in the Tampa Bay area for a decade but he was from Philadelphia so he was rooting for the Flyers.
After much jawing about the game I looked at him and said..you know what…regardless of the score of this game we in Tampa TOTALLY have scoreboard over you Philly losers. You don’t see thousands and thousands of us moving to Philly now do you. So why are all of you coming down here to drink OUR water breathe OUR air if Philly is such a great place.
Dude wanted to throw down right then and there until he realized a phenomenon that those of you with season tickets know….we were surrounded by Lightning fans who knew me well after all the games we had seen together.
He quickly realized he wouldn’t be throwing down with just me but about a half dozen guys and he took John Torterellas famous advice and shut his yap!!!

Largo, I am more sissapointed in smiths coaching than koetters, the offense playcalling was ok, but execution was horrible.
But as much as I like Koetter he is the head coach and if he does nothing abiut the poor defensive coaching due to his allegiance to smith, that falls all on him.
The one positive is that licht has not allegiance to smith and if need be he will cut the cord on him if it isnt corrected.
I really am hoping smith calls a better game. There is no possible way he doesnt see the problme from up on the booth. He has to see the problem. Then again I thought Lovie learned his lesson sitting in his basement with no job

The team as a whole was admitedly unprepared and lacked focus, hence me mentioning Koetter. Play calling is a whole different matter.
And St Pete I know Bolts fans are not “morons”. That was my tongue and cheek stating of the narrative (thank you bspn).
