Making A Difference

When a man breaks out Team Glazer’s checkbook to add a player, one would hope said player would make an impact.

That has already happened with the Bucs. The PFF tribe has programmed their Excel spreadsheets and determined few free agents have been better than Brent Grimes thus far this season, types Michael Renner.

For a much-maligned secondary a season ago, Grimes presence has been a godsend. Against the Falcons, he allowed a mere 5 yards on three targets and had two pass breakups. No full-time starter allowed fewer yards or had more passes defended—quite the introduction for the former Dolphin.

How impactful has Grimes been? Renner has him rated, through Week 1, as the No. 3 free agent signing.

That’s pretty impressive. Of all the free agents signed in the NFL this offseason, Grimes has produced as one of the best investments.

Grimes will have to play just as well if not better for the Bucs to pull off an upset tomorrow.

Put him on Larry unless he plays the slot and then let VH3 continue to learn how to handle the NFL’s best. Love that Grimes is helping VH3. Perfect match like VJax is for Mike Evans and Lavonte and Daryl Smith are for Kwon.

  2. HICKERBILLY Says:

I love the Grimes signing, and he can teach VH3 how to have a long productive career. We still need safety help tho.

  3. Mic Says:

WRONG statline! he gave up the touchdown to sanu last week, but I do like the signing

  4. DB55 Says:

So Robert Ayers is #1 or 2? He’s out played Optimus.

-he allowed a mere 5 yards on three targets and had two pass breakups. No full-time starter allowed fewer –

Does the TD he gave up to Sanu count?

  5. Strider ....Sec 147 Says:

    Meh he can’t be perfect

  6. DB55 Says:

One more thing, let’s not over think this. Simple as this, punch somebody in the mouth. Even if it’s not your man. Win or lose impose your win on your opponent. So they next time you meet they remember that you punched them and you punched them hard and it hurt, it hurt real bad. Lol. What’s in this drink?

Ayers is not on the list. Only Bucs player is Grimes.

    Who/what is “Optimus?”

  8. DB55 Says:

Optimus grimes from Optimus Prime the leader of the Transformers (18 wheeler). That’s been grimes nickname for a while now.

    *this

  12. iamkingsu Says:

I’ve been thinking to myself somebody should hire schiano. And they show him in the booth at ohio state where he coach DB’s praising Urban for the hire. I told my cousin “Naw that’s not a good thing anywhere but there.” Next play wide open touchdown.

  13. iamkingsu Says:

My bad he da def. coordinator. Which I read somewhere already read earlier this year. Forgive me my Noles got tooking to the woodshed and I’ve bn drinking since.

  14. James Walker Says:

Did he become Optimus before or after the one handed interception on Megatron?

  15. R.O Says:

    Ummm… it’s been ONE game. Stupid….

  16. HICKERBILLY Says:

I was just over on the cards website, and they are legit worried about this game. Scared that they won’t get any pressure on JW3 and he will she’d them lol. That was awesome to read.

  17. KingBuc17 Says:

I love this signing, however he is getting burnt on the high ball (Sanu TD)in the back of the endzone. This game will come down to the better pressure and nickle packages, which I will give the slight edge to Bucs. Plus I think we control the clock better than New England did against them last week and keep their offense off the field.

    Go Bucs, 29- 17

Grimes is so small. Even his arms are small!

    I love underdogs like Grimes!

I believe he was undrafted and started in the CFL!!

  19. Bob in Valrico Says:

Larry Fitzgerald has played mostly slot ,the last couple of years. Interested in seeing who will have this big responsibility, and how they fare.

  20. McClorasMaddenDaddy210 Says:

    @Bob in Valrico

Imagine, if you will that this year Banks @ SS n Ryan Smith @ FS.
    YO JOE!
    GO BUCS!!!

  21. orlbucfan Says:

Hopefully, Smith will let Banks play. He didn’t cut the guy for a reason. Go Bucs!!

  22. DemBoyzFromDaBay727 Says:

I agree I wouldn’t mind seeing if Banks can hold down the slow and aging Fitz, it seems like a good match up on paper. Banks has the size to matchup with him so why not? Banks weakness is Speed wich Fitz does not have anymore, he reminds me of V Jax.
