Yes, yesterday’s words from America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, kept Joe awake all last night.
Joe saved this nugget until this morning to spare Bucs fans the same fate.
Jameis was in high demand on national radio yesterday, and that included The Dan Patrick Show. Jameis discussed the similarities of hitting a baseball and playing quarterback in the NFL.
And then came the following disturbing exchange:
Dan Patrick: Do you rule out baseball as a career at all at any point?
Jameis Wisnton: Uhh, (laughs) I guess I gotta say that right now. But you know I love baseball so much. The highlight of my year was being able to throw the first pitch out at a Yankees-Rays game. So that was pretty good for me.
Joe does not doubt Jameis’ commitment to the Buccaneers and the NFL. But what happens, say, after Jameis’ seventh season in Tampa? He’d be approaching 28 years old and might get the crazy idea that he needs to fulfill a life’s dream on the baseball diamond before his body gets too beat up.
And yes, Jameis praised Tim Tebow during this interview for his competitiveness and will to pursue his dreams while being driven by faith.

Yes Russell Wilson went thru spring training with the Rangers and was actually drafted by them I believe. I hope he doesn’t pull a Dion Sanders/Michael Jordan on us. I pray deeply as a die hard bucs fan. If he does please let it be the Rays. 😂😂

QB vs DB or RB…. IDK if a arm injury is more likely then getting hurt some other way… IT IS….
He can’t throw 100 plus innings and for 5000 yards a year… And if he did… Well he wont be getting a contract extension after his rookie contract…
He could learn how to throw the knuckle ball and pitch into his late 40’s if he wanted too….

Listen we all love #3 and many are in the belief he can walk on Tampa Bay.
But reality check!!! #3 has a strong enough arm for the MLB. That’s IT!!!
Do you guys know how many dudes with strong arms are out there. In the MLB you better have several pitches…can #3 throw a great changeup? Curve?
To perfect those skills requires lots and lots of time. As much time as he’s already sunk into his NFL career.
#3 is an amazing athlete…so was Michael Jordan…John Lynch…plenty of NFL guys had enough talent to play MLB IF they put their entire heart and soul into it. Can’t have it both ways.
#3 is great…I love him…but in reality he doesn’t have the ability to walk on water nor does he have the ability to play MLB without making it his total focus.

87 might argue the fact he can’t walk on water. Not sure what side I am on the water walking debate though… 50/50 he can pull off the water walk. I would not bet against him
He if uses baseball to make more money good for him. use any leverage possible to get the most you can in every negotiation.
After he wins 2 super bowls in the next 6 years all the baseball talk will subside.

If Jameis continues his wonderful ways and this team becomes Super Bowl winners/contenders, I doubt he’ll leave at 28 for baseball

Jameis is passionate and faithful to his fans. He will make sure he wins us multiple superbowls first before ever leaving us. I think by that time as long as his leaders are still supportive and his team around him still cares as much as he does about the game he will go for the dynasty numbers! It’s great in Tampa Bay my friends! I strongly believe Jameis wants to see us fans happy again when it comes to our team. Go Bucs!

Prior to the 2015 draft, I remember Derrick Brooks emphatically telling the big Frog (always croakin’ about something) that we should not be surprised if this baseball “thing” never goes away. Who knows better than Mr. FSU himself, DB (and of coarse Jameis)?
Like many have posted, I’ll forgive him after no less than 2 SBs!

@Round1 Are you referring to Deion Sanders as an FSU Graduate? He didn’t even go to class his entire Junior season, which prompted the NCAA to coin the Deion Sanders rule!
