Odd Prediction From Chris Simms
September 8th, 2016As opening day approaches, scores of predictions can be found from knowledgeable football men.
Former Bucs, Titans and Broncos quarterback Chris Simms is one of those guys.
Joe finds Simms to be a real up-and-comer in the media. He’s carved out a strong NFL niche on Bleacher Report, and you can also find him on TV calling college and pro games. He’s a fantastic interview as well, with a keen ability to explain Xs and Os.
Simms issued his latest NFL Power Rankings and it’s obvious he thinks the NFC South is steaming garbage. The Bucs are in the shameful position of No. 24 overall, one spot better than the Saints and one place behind the Titans. Simms has Atlanta, Sunday’s opponent for the Bucs, at No. 22.
But this is where it gets odd. Simms believes the Falcons are a better team yet he picks the Bucs to win Sunday.
Here’s how he broke it down at BleacherReport.com.
I hate reading too much into preseason tape.
It’s just tough to ignore what I see when I look at Matt Ryan. Physically, his arm looks like it’s on the decline. He’s not throwing with power or accuracy. As a result, you see him second-guessing his own throws and throwing with far less confidence than anyone hopes for.
Mike Smith knows Ryan’s limits like no other. Now, the former Falcons head coach is coordinating Tampa Bay’s defense. He’ll put Gerald McCoy and Co. in the perfect position to earn a little revenge.
The pick: Buccaneers
Man, all these predictions are driving Joe nuts. Thankfully, the whistle blows in three days.

Its good to see Chris Simms latched on with the sports commentary community. Man, he took some beatdowns with us. But he gave us what he had. And he’s often said, He still loves the Bucs and the bay area community.

THREE, THREE MORE FRIGGIN’ DAYS.
I can hear the Fox NFL theme song in my head right now.

We are going to find out a lot about our team in the next few weeks. I can’t wait for all this nonsense to be over and for real football to begin.

Predictions are worthless none of these “experts” jobs are on the line based on their picks. I’d like to see analyst paid based on how many games they get right or wrong

In my professional opinion, he is still suffering from proprioception.

A media member not kissing Matt Ryans arse?

I remember Simms completing a pass to Michael Clayton and the announcer saying, “That’s a connection we’re going to see for a long time.”
So sad. 🙁

Break out the Zubaz!!!

So long as he sees the Bucs as a head to head favorite, I’m really not concerned about overall power rankings. Once the win totals start piling up, that’ll put us pretty clearly ahead of them, and hopefully most other teams.

We will dominate this year!

At the Browns game, they did an interview with Michael Clayton. They were promoting the new Hall of Fame Club section, so nothing wrong with that. However, they announced him as “Bucs legend Michael Clayton”. I spit my drink all over myself.

Peyton Barber promoted to the active roster.

@ Hawaiian – In lieu of any other offensive legends that the team can point to, he qualifies pretty well. He’s not an Alstott, but he’s up there in the pantheon of Bucs offensive players. Hopefully the current cadre that we’ve got will supplant all of that badness and help Clayton take his rightful place in the lower tiers.

Does his brother play for Atlanta?
September 8th, 2016 at 12:29 pm
@Hawaiian
Yep, I saw that and laughed. I bought his jersey too, such a waste of money. The only three jerseys I’ve ever bought have been his, Freeman and Cadillac Williams. So at this point, I just don’t buy jerseys anymore.

IF we can find a way to beat the Dixie Chicks next stop is Phoenix where a lot of the brethren at the NFL Network are saying the Cardinals should be atop the NFL Power Rankings. Wouldn’t that be sweet if we could somehow someway come out of those games 2-0 and shock the nation?????

Rojas I told Joe they seem to really like that kid. He does have a burst.

Chris Sims is frail and weak… Both as a QB and a sports commentator… I dont care two turds what this spoiled pothead has to say… The Bucs will finish second in the NFC South and will make the playoffs this year… How far we go in the playoffs will depend on Jabo, Evans and our defense…

@ForgotAboutDre
I still have my Freeman jersey. Lets never forget; he was the last QB to lead us to a winning season.
That’s now my “yard” or “flag football” jersey now, though.
My wife got me a custom 84 jersey (birth year) with my last name on the back. That’s what i’ll be wearing to game i can attend. We’re going to the Bucs/Falcons game this year (like i do every year here in Atlanta) and she asked me if she could wear my Freeman jersey.
So if you’re at the game and see an 84 Sands jersey walking with a Freeman jersey, it’s me and the wife.

fun fact: In his last season with Tampa, 1 in 6 of of ever Simms passes were either blocked at the line of scrimmage or intercepted.
September 8th, 2016 at 4:32 pm
Jersey’s? I got all the old timers.
Sapp
Brooks
Lynch
Barber
Alstott
Only 2 newbies. Jameis and Dougie.
Have Marpet on my radar though.

Poor Simms, Gruden destroyed that kids confidence.

LET’S GO BUCS !!!!

I saw Chris Simms eating ice cream with his family at dairy joy in South Tampa one night. I’m a huuuge longhorns fan so it hurt not to interupt him. Dairy joy is known for their awesome hot fudge Sundays which is what he was eating, so you know the guy makes good decisions

Match ups joe. The bucs beat the falcons twice last season, yet the falcons still ended up with a better record. This isnt rocket surgery.
