Jameis Says “The Calm” Returns
September 7th, 2016America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, fielded all kinds of questions from media this afternoon at One Buc Palace.
Joe served up one about the greatest change coming to the playing field.
Of course, that’s the return of Vincent Jackson, who was injured early in Week 15 last season and missed the final two games of 2015.
The Tampa Bay offense fell apart in many ways, just as it did when V-Jax missed time earlier in the season. Jackson played in just 8 games. It showed.
“It changes everything,” Jameis said, “just because of another veteran on that football field. Vince helps everyone out who is out there on the field because he’s been there and done that. He’s been experienced in situations that I’ve never even seen. So him out there playing, there’s more calm. He just does amazing things. Age can do that for you.”
Joe really was intrigued by Jameis’ use of the word “calm.” So Joe asked veteran tight end Brandon Myers for his interpretation. Myers is in his third season playing alongside V-Jax.
“Vince does a lot of things for us that not everybody sees,” Myers said. “In addition to the blocking, just having him out there. There’s attention put on him and it opens up other thing. You might not see it, but he definitely affects the way the defense plays. That’s really a calm to everybody else. You can feel it. It makes everybody else’s job a little easier when you have two guys on the outside that are that dangerous. It changes the defense.”
And this is why Joe named V-Jax as the No. 2 X-factor in the Bucs’ season. The painful absence of V-Jax was so obvious last year, which is why Joe was clamoring for the Bucs to acquire more receiver depth this offseason.

Bucs should look wr in this next draft. V-jax won’t be around forever and this team is in desperate need of another playmaker.

Licht didn’t do Jameis any favors this off season. Big fan of V Jax hope the Bucs get at least 10-14 starts from him this season

just think, many on this board still think cutting him would be a good option because he is so “overpriced”

He’s a captain for a reason. And all the media saying because of his age he will miss games this year. I say bullspit.. He knows how to take care of himself and prepare for the season and if not for a cheap shot by the Redskins safety who played for us ( his name escapes me right now) V Jax would have played all 16 last year.

I feel like most fans here have given up on 83. I’m not there yet. I understand he may be on the decline but what Winston and Meyers said here is so true. He can still be a nightmare against zone coverage and Evans makes defenses not want to play too much man. If he can stay healthy, V-jax will be a vital option for this offense on third down. Evans should provide the big plays while Jackson moves chains. Joe’s right.. He’s an x-factor for sure.

Would love to draft Mike Williams #2 next year. Lol. What if he comes in and has a rookie year like MW19? The guy seems legit. Or Juju smith Schuster. We need VJAX replacement soon.

VJax is more of a 1B than a #2 receiver. As long as he is healthy and playing, the Bucs will benefit from his presence, experience and capabilities on the field.
Licht needs to sign VJax to a (hopefully team friendly) 2 year extension and then invest a 1st or 2nd round pick next year in a premium talent WR to eventually replace Vincent. Keep this “bridge” philosophy rolling….
Having 2 high quality and dangerous outside receivers opens up so many things for an offense.

I think you meant Mike Williams #3…the first 2 didn’t do so well

Those of you who have watched an NFL game from the sidelines realize it’s a miracle they are all not hurt on every play.
The collisions these men have are actually frightening when you see them from closeup. Giant, great athletes running full speed with nasty intentions.
I’m not worried about VJAX’s age and injury…just injury. All of these guys are in incredible shape. Injuries Those of you who have watched an NFL game from the sidelines realize it’s a miracle they are all not hurt on every play.
