  1. BUC_40 Says:

Loved it! So pumped for the season!

  2. D-Rome Says:

It’s great to see Justin is now a part of the JoeBucsFan mafia.

  3. Clodhopper Says:

This has always been the best football website out there but it just keeps getting better and better. I couldn’t be happier for the Joes, Ira, the Commish and most of all, us the fans!! Soon you’ll be overtaking BSPN. Here’s to hoping the Bucs are now ran as efficiently and effectively as JBF and we get some dang wins this year!!

  4. Tony Says:

When is the podcast on iTunes going to be updated? The Commish is an excellent addition, well don guys!

    That will update tonight. –Joe

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Surprisingly but I agree with every point Justin made.

    Dline depth
    LB Depth
    WR Depth
Bell needed to be cut……perhaps Banks also
    Cross question mark
Glennon (nobody wants, hasn’t improved, can’t handle pressure)
Stars need to make plays deep in the game

  6. tmaxcon Says:

Great podcast. Glad he touched on the very real danger at DT with the current fragile 3. I have been complaining that between the fragile 3 and only 2 wr on roster it will prevent a serious playoff run this year. Too many key players at critical positions have significant injury histories or lack of proven consistency.

  7. Bob in Valrico Says:

good add, analysis was fair and accurate..

  8. Alex Says:

You guys just put your website as the top spot in town. This was a Seal team 6 strike against your competition lol. Commish, Ira, Todd Wright all on the same team? – you guy are giving ppl no reason to go anywhere else. Didn’t Ira and Commish used to do a show together lol? Everyone has picked a side haven’t they? Lol

  9. Bob in Valrico Says:

    @ Joe
You have another friend out there from Bay Cave.also liked his take on Bucs.Sign him up,please.

  10. tmaxcon Says:

    Chris

Take note of Mr Pawliski’s take on Glennon. Truth hurts but he is very acvurate in his and the leagues assessment of Glennon’s abilities and future. I have always been right about Glennon…. 8 sucks… heartless backup simple as that

  11. orlbucfan Says:

tmaxcon, how do you handle positives like a win? Heart failure? All you post are negatives. How long have you been a Bucs fan?

  12. tmaxcon Says:

I have been a bucs fan since 78….bucs have had 5 decent years and 1 great year out of 40 not a lot to be positive about. You are confusing REALITY with negativity. The reality is glennon sucks, our top 3 DTs are PROVEN fragile and our WR corp is scary thin… i am very positive about the future with Jameis and Koetter but will not blindly be rah rah guy when there are glaring holes on the roster at critical position. The team is heading in right direction but stiill a ways to go.

  13. Evo Says:

Please get an Ian Beckles next!!! Please!!!! Takes from players that actually played means more to me than anything. I’ve watched NFL games with former bucs and it’s amazing the things they see that we never thought to look for.

    IAN NEXT JOE!!

Hold on to your hat! … –Joe

  14. BuccaneEric75 Says:

The Joes are snatching up everyone! When do you guys take over Pewter Report?

  15. orlbucfan Says:

Wish David Logan and the great Lee Roy Selmon were still around. DL was great on Bucs’ Radio. RIP. Go Bucs!!

  16. joe Says:

I couldn’t be happier for the Joes, Ira, the Commish and most of all, us the fans!!

Don’t forget Todd Wright and Howard Balzer!

Thanks for the kind words guys. Joe is stoked to host Justin’s podcasts. Glad it seems others are just as excited.

  17. Patrick in VA Says:

JBF is amassing all of the actual talent in the Tampa sports coverage community. I left the Commish a comment on his post about joining JBF saying that he and JBF have been my go to spots for Bucs coverage for a number of years now. The fact that they’re joining forces is a perfect fit, in my opinion.

Bringing in Beckles, as Joe alluded to above, Kauffman and the Commish is a huge coup in terms of the types of content and access that JBF will have. I know that it would be a conflict of interest, as it relates to a revenue stream for JBF, but I think that the fact that the Joes have the only members of Bucs media with any actual personalities on their payroll now could mean that they could make a serious run at supplanting the local station. I’m happy just to get the podcasts for now, though.

It would be fun to team up Beckles with Shaun King or maybe even Steve White to get their takes. Now that Ian is freed up from having to follow a format that relied heavily on fart jokes and being creepy guys, I think he can focus on a brand of coverage that can actually be entertaining and informative.

  18. feelthepewter Says:

I consider Mike Glennon to be a bust. I might be the first to call him one as well. When you take a qb in the third with other pressing needs at the time and that qb does not produce as a starter and is relegated to back-up. I know you could say that about any pick selected in the third, that they too have a chance to be a bust at that pick. However, I was scratching my head at that time, questioning the move. It is no knock on Glennon, but shortsighted on Schiano and Dom’s part.

  19. Joe Says:

It would be fun to team up Beckles with Shaun King or maybe even Steve White to get their takes.

Shaun King is out of the NFL analysis business for the foreseeable future.

  20. Joe Says:

    feelthepewter:

Glennon was drafted as insurance. He was never drafted to be “the starter.” Josh Freeman was already on the roster and his contract had one more season left when Glennon was drafted.

Clearly, Freeman demonstrated to both Dominik and Schiano enough red flags behind the scenes that the team felt compelled to draft a quarterback in the third round in case Freeman decided not to re-sign with the Bucs or he went mental (which he did).

  21. Patrick in VA Says:

Is he? Hmmmm. Well, I hope he’s on to a prosperous career elsewhere. His was always a good story that I enjoyed. Those guys that get to play for the team in their hometown are always good stories. His takes were sometimes controversial, but I always thought they were at least well informed and thought out. They weren’t always ones that I agreed with, but they were thought provoking.

    ——————————————

When Schiano says in his opening press conference (before any of the red flags came out, or was at least bantered about by the media) that there is an “open competition”, that to me at least, subtly signals that Glennon was brought in to be the starter and that Schiano never liked Freeman from day-one. I remember the draft experts being shocked (myself included) at the pick that high with other areas needing to be addressed. All water under the bridge now….in part, moves like that has lead to the drafting of “America’s QB”.

  23. Patrick in VA Says:

@feelthepewter – given the way we saw it all play out, wouldn’t it be reasonable to assume that the move was done in an effort to give Freeman a wake-up call (ba-dum-dum-tsshh) and to get his act together? I think it’s a situation where there was good money thrown in after bad money. We used a first rounder on Freeman and, when he went off the rails, they used 3rd rounder to get the first rounder to get on his A-game. I don’t think they ever intended to use him. I would say that they probably thought they’d have Glennon show up in a few preseason games and maybe as an injury replacement for a game or two and, hopefully, play well enough to let them trade him for some picks later. The way that it played out in reality was a perfect storm of awful.

  24. feelthepewterpower Says:

Also, as much (enthusiastic) agreement as I am with the Commish for “getting weapons” for Jameis, I do feel the Buccs need to be prudent about doing so. Most of the top tier teams, don’t select wide receiver high in the draft. I know we did with Evans, but think of the Lions with all of their wasted picks on receiver.

Most of the top teams as of 2014 who spent high picks on receiver ended-up losers as was the case with the Buccs in Evans……The best route is to invest in your defense in the draft. We need safety, we need DL help, possibly another DE, another CB of the future. I’d honestly would load up on defense.

  25. JD Says:

This is JD DIEHARD BUC FAN OUT OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA.. I agree with Justin we have some holes that need to be addressed next offseason. “BUT” our offense was top 5 with a bunch of injuries last year. If our defense stars take that next step this year and are consistent we will make the playoffs.. The only team to keep an eye on is Carolina in our division.. Last time I checked Famous Jameis(last year rookie QB sensation) swept ATLANTA and beat New Orleans in New Orleans.. When is the last time we had a QB come in and do that????? (Never).. What about a Tampa Bay Buc organization known for always having a respectable defense but instead having a top 5 offense with a rookie QB???.(NEVER).. We are more ready than we get credit for!!!

  26. DB55 Says:

Welcome aboard Justin. Glad to have another GMC lover on the site.

  27. ElioT Says:

    Awesome addition to Jbf!!

Would love to see y’all bring Steve White in to really break down the Xs and Os after each game!

    Go Bucs!!

  28. Tampabaybucfan Says:

“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 9 points.”

  29. James Walker Says:

DT and RB are two positions that are NOT concerns for this team.

  30. Brian Says:

tmax.. why does “reality” always seem to correlate to negative? Being real can certainly be positive as well. This team look to be on the rise in a big way and i “realistically” see positives coming.

  31. Fish Says:

Love Justin’s analysis over at Bucsblitz. Kudos to the Joes for signing him on the site. Keep on it, Justin – we appreciate your work!

  32. Alan Says:

YES!!!! So stoked , great addition to the site!!!!

  33. Brian Says:

Justin claims backups are backups for a reason and seems OK with that for some positions and then seems to complain that backups will play like backups if forced into duty by inj at other positions. I don’t get it.
