High On Football

August 6th, 2016
Passion.

Passion.

It is a dreary Saturday morning. It’s the kind of day you don’t want to get out of bed; just roll over and bury your head in the covers.

But not in the world of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. This dude his high on football.

It’s early August. Players normally are sick of training camp by now. It’s like Groundhog Day. You don’t know what actual day it is because every day is the same thing, day after tedious day.

But check out Jameis before practice this morning in a video Buccaneers.com Twittered out. Jameis is pumped as if it is a playoff game.

That is the X factor that Jameis has that can’t be coached. Your either a vocal leader or you are not. To be a successful vocal leader, you must back up your words with your action to have the team respect and for them to not just tune you out. Mariota may turn out to be a successful QB but he will never be the passionate leader of his team the way Winston has become in such a short time. So I really am glad we chose Winston. He has more pros than cons for sure. In fact the only thing I wish he were a little better at is accuracy as he can throw a perfect pass and then also be off target, sometimes not by much but even a slightly off target pass and lead to an INT, drops or a receiver having to slow up a bit or each behind him to make a catch which can cost some YAC (Yards after catch) or be the difference between a good gain or a TD. Other than that, I would not change anything about this kid. And I love how he has shut up all of the character judges by being a hard worker, active in the community, taking extra time to sign autographs for kids and staying out of trouble. He is just an overall good person and will go down as the best QB in Bucs history by a landslide when his career is done. Can’t wait until the toe hits the leather 8/11….Football is right around the corner!!!! Finally!!! GO BUCS!!!!

I think #3’s accuracy will show marked improvement this year. He’s no longer messing up his QB stride with his pitching stride. Now that it’s all football and no baseball I think he’s going to get even better throwing the ball.

I hope you’re right Stpete. Seems to me I’ve seen and read about a lot of throws behind and overthrown incompletion and tipped balls in camp. Also hearing good things but I guess we’ll just have to wait till the season starts, LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY!!

I think the kid is doing a lot of intel, and not just trying to complete everything in camp. He’s wants to see what he can squeeze in and what he can’t. What he is thinking about during practice, we, have no where near the capabilities to even speculate. But, I’m pretty certain he and Koetter want to know what they got. I mean, really Got. I would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall during all the calls Koetter made to the coaches. “Boy’s, it’s time to get back together again. This kid’s gonna make us famous. Let’s ride!”
