Yes, Bucs fans always look under rocks for the next shiny object that could be placed on the Bucs roster.
Joe gets it. Such a desire (hobby?) is not a bad thing. All too often, it involves a name of a player a fan recognizes, not fully understanding a guy is usually unemployed for a reason.
Take the case of recently cut right tackle and pot activist Eugene Monroe. A Bucs fan peppered multimedia maven Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com about Tampa Bay picking up Monroe. In a roundabout way, Smith doesn’t believe such a signing is likely.
I think Monroe will sign with a team that has an obvious need at one of their starting tackle positions. That could be in New York, where the Giants might want to move second-year man Erick Flowers to the right side, or maybe in San Francisco, where the options at right tackle don’t seem very strong. San Diego or Seattle could be interested.
Smith notes two things to factor when discussing a potential signing of Monroe. First, he is injury-prone. Second, it appears the Bucs (for this season) are set at right tackle.
Demar Dotson, who before last season was a dependable, durable right tackle, is back and may start. Gosder Cherilus started 13 games last year, and he’s also back. It also looks like rookie tackle Caleb Benenoch is the heir apparent to Cherilus/Dotson, provided he develops in the next year or two.
That’s a crowded field. No room for a likely overpriced, injury-prone veteran.

Some fan asks Smith about a player we will likely never acquire and it becomes a story……..slow news day. If we’re going to speculate how about bringing Sapp out of retirement…..I hear he needs some bucks.

In Joe’s defense, EVERY TIME a “name” is on the market, fans on twitter and on this website ask ” OH are we going to get him?” One place we do not need a hippy lettuce guy is the O line. Our O line is going to be nasty this season. Now if he was a DT or pass rusher, I would consider him.

Definitely no room for him. Maybe if he’s still available in August and we have an injury. Maybe. I think if that happened Pamphile would get the nod.

No thanks. I like our young core. I DO however appreciate his stance on Medical Marijuana though.

Licht already missed on solidifying the most dominant OL in the NFL when he passed on L’ael Collins and then passing on Tunsil this year… bucs OL could have been nasty…and not too mention Incognito who was available but he was too nasty for these bucs… smh…
