Wide Receiver Adam Humphries
Twenty-seven catches for 260 yards and one touchdown from an undrafted rookie receiver isn’t about to make the guy a household name.
That was the stat line from Adam Humphries in a Bucs uniform last season, a heroic effort from a tryout wide receiver out of Clemson who was cut in September.
Humphries, however, wants to change that. He doesn’t just want to contribute. After today’s practice, Humphries made it very clear his personal goal is to be known across the NFL world in 2016.
In today’s edition of underwear football, Humphries and second-year wide receiver Kenny Bell looked sharp in drills and playing in the slot during various 7-0n-7 and 11-on-11 sessions. Of course, that means little. Bell did that last year and didn’t catch a pass in preseason before getting hurt.
Regardless, it’s easy to root for Humphries, and he will have multiple avenues to getting noticed. Humprhies currently is the Bucs’ No. 1 returner.
To date, Humphries said he likes the on-field with Dirk Koetter in charge. “A lot more energy out here,” he said.

i am pulling for Humphries and bell. bucs are in a world of hurt if that bum Murphy or dye make the team

I’m hoping Bell explodes. He’ll be a great returner, and if he can catch passes, all the better.
Humphries? We’ll see. I would rather go with UNFAs instead of keep Dye and Murphy.

@tmax- If it means in lieu of another player, you’re 100% on Dye. As to Murphy, I thought he was playing pretty well before the injury. If he’s fully recovered, he’s not a bad option as a #3 or #4. IF!
Humphries is a nice story and I hope he does become a household name. That can only mean good things are happening for the Bucs.

I disagree with Murphy… He’s a 5 or 6. 1 trick pony who does not play special teams. If he played special teams I’d be a little more flexible with is fragility. If you look at Murphy’s career stats they are ot impressive. Old man Roddy white’s worst season is better than any Murphy has had. Again, if he was more diverse and more reliable I’d be ok with him but i’d rather take a chance on another player than him.

Humphries had the best hands on the team last year. Only drop i can think of was a laser that seemed very uncatchable for where he was positioned.
He won’t wow with his speed or size but he seemed to have decent quickness and if he can develop as a dependable route runner / learn to maximize his talent who knows?
His pro day results weren’t bad. He’d have been in like the top 15 of this last years combine results in the 40 (4.53) bench press (14) & 3 cone drill (6.96)

Loved this guy since day 1. He puts in the work he shows the passion and has the drive. You find a way to put thwse guys in thw game. Hes our Rudy on offense

I agree with Lord Cornelius….I just got done watching a bunch of our games from last season and that one laser…I think against Philly, was the only one he missed that I could remember..
This kid is a perfect #3. Im not saying we shouldn’t have a speedster at #4 for when we need it, but we need catches. Im worried about who our #3 is until Mr. Evans proves his droppsies are a thing of the past.

I.mo Murphy is the clear #3 IF healthy . He is a seasoned vet and runs great routes. He also has good size. Humphrey’s remorable drop was Jameis’ 6th TD pass for a record. I do like Humphreys and hope Bell wins #3 outright.

A perfect no. 3?? I don’t know about that one. Imo he’s to small and and not quick enough to be a ideal slot guy. My choice would be a guy like Andre Davis if he gets his shot. Alot of ppl hate on Murphy because he can’t stay healthy but he was playing well before he got injured. He’s a decent slot guy as well. My 2 sleeper picks at WR are Bernard Reedy who has the speed to take the top off defenses and is a great return guy, hopefully he an take the job from Humphries. And my other pick is Tampa own, Andre Davis. He broke all the receiving records at USF and has been bouncing from practice squad to practice squad. I’m hoping he sticks and gets his shot because I know he has the tools and talent to help out our Bucs. Reality is that either Murphy or V Jax will go down at sum point, so hopefully one if not both of those guys get there chance to shine.

I better not see Dye on the field this season. There’s something wrong with the coaches if we do.
