“I Like Tampa To Finally Make That Move”

More friendly heat on Dirk Koetter

More friendly heat on Dirk Koetter

Add another log on the steady fire building around Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter.

And the fire isn’t coming from JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters, so stop pointing fingers.

Across the nation, and locally, the Bucs are becoming a sexy pick to become a good team in 2016, a winning team, something they haven’t been since Josh Freeman, LeGarrette Blount and Mike Williams struck fear into NFL defenses six years ago.

Assorted NFL geniuses and ex-players don’t think Koetter being a first-year head coach, and the presence of three other elite quarterbacks in the NFC South, can slow down the Bucs.

As a result, for those who think Koetter will get more than two seasons to produce a winning Bucs team, Joe suggests a slap in the face. Team Glazer is and should be impatient, especially with America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, and plenty of other quality talent on the roster.

With all the prognostications for the Bucs to be winners, Team Glazer isn’t about to sit around playing a waiting game, waiting and waiting and waiting to get back to 9-7 — the record that got Chucky fired.

The latest pro-Bucs song comes from CBS Sports’ top NFL insider, Jason La Canfora, formerly of NFL Network. You can watch his full NFC South breakdown video below.

“I like Tampa to finally make that move,” La Canfora says. And he goes on to state ditching Lovie Smith’s defense is an automatic “addition by subtraction.”

All you fools are setting up is failure!!!! The “real” core of the team is so young, and as a result will make young mistakes!!! New HC and new DC with a whole new scheme to learn does not equate instant success!!!! There will be wins against teams that the Bucs should not have won and losses that should not have happened at all this year!!!! As Fans do not ride the emotional rollercoaster!!!

What young team with brand new scheme and coaches were the Hot break out team????? What would be best is that every team after they play the Bucs will be like statements like “watch out for them, they are the up and comming and tough!!!”

Some of you are a year or two ahead of schedule and will be once again disappointed because what YOU imagined did not happen!!!!! Have expectations but with attainable goals!!!!!

Although…I DO believe a winning season is possible. .500 is more probable though.

  5. ben Says:

bucs hired Mr.Koeer who have never been a nfl head coach before so i’ll try to be cool with team this year . After all mgt used “2” high draft picks on a kicker so many holes left.

  6. BigMacAttack Says:

Koetter and Smith are proven winners from their time with the Falcons. They’re both very smart and I’d give them the time it takes to build a strong team. Personnel wise, the Bucs are getting there but I believe they still need a couple more good Drafts. I’d give Koetter at least 3 yrs. I hope the Bucs get 8 wins this year but I don’t think they are quite there yet. They are on the right path and Jason Licht sure seems to have an eye for talent and value. This is the time for patience and it may take a few games for the team to get it really going. Maybe they start 1-1, and I hope they do, but if it takes a few weeks, I’m okay with that.

NO NO NO. Firing your head coach and starting over every two years is a huge part of why the Bucs have been so god awful for so long.

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Realist, agree with your bottom line: “Have expectations but with attainable goals” but … I haven’t read anyone anywhere predicting that the Bucs will win the Super Bowl this year. Most have acknowledged that this year’s schedule is considerably tougher than our 2015 schedule, and that we’re still a young team with a new HC and DC, yada, yada. I’ve seen predictions anywhere from 6-10 to 10-6 for this season, with I’d say 8-8 being what most would be ‘satisfied with’ this season.

Having said that though, 9-7 or even 10-6 is attainable IF things come together quickly (team chemistry among others?) and if the Bucs can avoid a bunch of crippling injuries to our starters. And oh ya, add a little luck in there, because every season Lady Luck seems to have an impact.

  9. Destinjohnny Says:

    No pass rush
    safety’s are a major issue
After 13 wideouts are painfully thin as are backers
    6-10
We have a good kicker though

  10. tmaxcon Says:

I say 8-8 or 9-7 the bucs youth will cost them a game or two but they will win 1 or 2 they should not too… great growth year…

  11. Tampatony Says:

    7-8 wins max.

NFL has tape on Winston, how does he adjust?
    Defense lacks a pass rush
Team needs to learn how to win.
    First year HC
    Thin receiving corps
    Tough Division

  12. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

The core of the Seattle Seahawks was young when they beat the Pats during the infamous “you mad bro” game. Afterwhich they all to man said it was that game propelled they’re run.

  13. Dewey Selmon Says:

No way Dirk is gone after 2 years. Lovie set the bar so low, Dirk would have to go 1-15 and 2-14. And that’s not happening on Jameis’s watch.

  14. Buccfan37 Says:

Score more points, give up fewer points. This is my expectation and I believe it will happen starting this year. Captain Dirk and most of his crew will exceed two years in Bucsville. The era of double flops is over.

  15. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    I’m at 6-10, but I’m hoping 10-6.

  16. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Thin recieving core what a crock. How many years were the Broncos in they’re defensive scheme? I know the answer just wanna hear what one of you will say.

  17. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    Loser @$$ fanbase.

  18. Bigbucben Says:

We’re going to the playoffs this year on a wildcard ticket. I know everyone is scared to be cautiously optimistic because well it seems unrealistic to be. But this is the year the bucs return to the playoffs, I guarantee it.

  19. gulfcoast Says:

Nah, Koetter gets more than two seasons. History, the past, blah blah….. 2+ seasons.

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

Realist… you seem to have tempered your enthusiasm from a few weeks back.

  21. tj Says:

lol always happens this time of year, i remember how great mcclown was in practise geeezzzz

  22. Erik w/ Clean Athletics 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans' Says:

I absolutely disagree with Buc Realist.

I say the Bucs are starting a Dynasty this year.

I predict we win the Superbowl this year and 4-5 in the next decade.

Also, I predict we will have at least 10 Probowlers this year. Yes, I said 10.

Here they are: Jameis, Doug Martin, Ali Marpet, Vitale, LVD, Kwon Alexander, GMC, Brent Grimes, Aguayo, and at least 1 of these guys: Charles Sims, Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, Vernon Hargreaves, Noah Spence, ASJ

  23. 98bucsfan Says:

I’ve said this a lot this off season. I would not be mad with a 8-8 or 9-7 season given how tough our schedule is this year on paper. Neither should anyone else. We have our franchise QB for the next 10-12 years, meaning we have 10-12 years of being competitive with the best of the best. We can’t get mad for a brand new coach and brand new defense getting us to 8-8 or 9-7. That just means that it’s a new day in Tampa bay and we can only progress from there.

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

    SIXTEEN-DASH-ZERO!!!
    Anything less is unacceptable!

  25. BigPoppaBuc Says:

This is going to be a really fun season to watch. I expect some serious heartbreak mixed with some sure fire signs of greatness. Many other uncontrollable variables will go into whether we make the playoffs or not. But I’m almost certain of one thing… The losing culture this franchise has slipped back into is no longer. Jameis’ post game presser after the finale last year started that. This season will most likely be a story of a team that competes on a weekly basis and learns what it takes to win and be a contender. I say by next year they’ll be ready to really make a push.

  26. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Russell Wilson drafted 2012,Hawks win superbpwl 2013. Hawks youngest team in the league in 2013.

  27. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Nos-bos

Pete Carroll was in his 3rd year by then, R Wilson turned 25 before he won the SuperBowl. ( also the Seahawks were the 4th youngest team)

The bucs have a 1st year HC, Brand new DC and scheme and JW3 will still be 22 years old at season end!!!

  28. feelthepewterpower Says:

meanwhile, the rest of the league is viewing us as the Cleveland Browns with all the turnover and lack of patience. The pieces are in place, there is improvement in both personnel, staff, and likely scheme. You can’t expect too much with a tougher schedule and this being the first year basically for everyone. Let’s give them three years, keep adding pieces in the draft and be smart in free agency. The Buccaneers are on the rise….but we must remember most good coaches struggle in their first year. Who knows, if the Buccs fool around and get off to a good start….the momentum may carry us the rest of the year!

  29. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Not buying that argument Realist!!! Koetter been coaching in some capacity for how long. In my opinion JW’s age is irrelevant. If you can ball you can ball.

  30. Tom S. Says:

The problem is that the schedule facing the Bucs is brutal, especially compared to the trash the Bucs were able to face last year.

Last I checked Vegas has the Bucs firmly around 6-10 for next year. So if you are one of those “who needs reality?” fans out there looking for 10-6 or bust. I look forward to your disappointment. Anything is possibly but I expect the leap to playoff contention in 2017.

  31. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Tom S. do the odds makers in vegas have predicting down to a science???

  32. Erik w/ Clean Athletics 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans' Says:

    NOSBOS,
These pessimistic dudes are way off in their analysis.

We know what what the real situation is.

    Bucs have unlimited potential now.

  33. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

“Unlimited Potential” indeed. What makes me laugh tho E is many of these dudes will be the main ones saying spit like “f@$! Yeah!” and “I told you we were gonna be good”.

    ————————-

Vegas does yes, for the most part (generally speaking). Why do you think they rake in the millions. Now, they might have the Buccs or a couple of over teams off their total win mark, and sharps will take advantage, but as a whole, they know what they’re doing.

As far as the schedule, on paper it is tough. However, injuries and free agency/drafts can change the landscape. The strangth of schedule is based on last season’s play….and while it will likely be a tougher schedule than last year, the Buccs will play Sanchez (Far cry from Manning) in a new system early on. Also a rookie QB with the rams. We’ll get atlanta the first game, and anything can happen in the first game with teams coming off preseason not fully being in game shape. Cards and Panthers are the two solid teams of the first five, and we get them on the road. Perhaps we’ll play our best game…..keep on one of those two games close (if not both), get a lucky bounce, and find a way to steal one.

  35. Buccaneers Says:

Blah, Blah, Blah……10 wins this and 9 wins that. How bout this for a goal? How about this sack of LOSER GARBAGE TEAM give its fans something aside from dejection on Sunday’s? How about these BUMS win 6-7 ga,Es at home for a change?

I go to two games a year. Haven’t seen this insulting organization win in over five years!!!! They’re EMBARRASSING!! How about their goal is to be anything other then PATHETIC this year?

  36. SCBucsFan Says:

Unless Bill Belichick is available to hire (he obviously won’t be), Koetter better get more than two years. Otherwise it will be the same crap over and over again.

  37. Buccfan37 Says:

I feel this coaching staff is one of the best Bucs groups ever. LVD is not the only player who sees the overall change and confidence building going on. New coaching, new outlook and better competitors will bring better results.

  38. RobertG Says:

I’d say we win at least 8 games if not more. Defense has to be better than it was last year. We play a hard schedule but only on paper as things change game to game. Koetter hasn’t been a NFL head coach but guess what, he was a college head coach.
Can’t believe fans would say buccaneers will only go 6-10. True fans are optimistic , so I say 10-6 or better!

  39. Poor Glennon Says:

This team was garbage last year. Getting hammered by the worst team in the league…..at home. 6-10 is about right. I’m not sold on #3 until he can make consistant throws. Take out the worst game an nfl team has ever played (Eagles). With his 5 Tds. And his season is just OK.
