Lets load up on next 4 picks with defensive ends…at least one if not half will pan out for us. Then we get Grant Jakeem from Texas Tech in the 5th round, he’s a clone of Darren Sproles. We need someone electrifying to add to the puzzle. High tempo offense is what it takes to keep up with the elite NFL teams.

DallasBuc I am glad you thought it funny but the last time I looked the the Jets were 30/31 on the cap list with no QB they trust and only 5 picks left in the draft 2 of those 7th rounders. Sometimes half a ham sandwich and a drink stops you starving to death.

We need to go get Spence, Ogbah, or Dodd. With multiple teams ahead of us needing pass rushers, we might need to move up ahead of Dallas to get the guy we want. Personally, I’d want Spence the most from those 3, although they’d all be fine.

Id rather go with Jaylon Smith over Jack. But we need DE. Spence Dodd or Ogbah, in that order of which is available. Then go WR in the 3rd, or trade back into the 2nd for one. Thats where I am anyway.

Oh I know about Billings, lol. I wouldnt mind him at all, its just kind of a luxury with Spence and the rest of our interior. We need edge rush. But if we did go with him, Id be happy…..I was pushing him a while back too.

I just hope we don’t have to trade up to get them.
Specifically I think we need to hold on to that extra 4th. This will allow us to grab Roberto Aguayo without any hate from the crowd that says you don’t pick a kicker until the 6th round or even take a flyer on Jaylon Smith.

I’m going to put this out there…how about a Tight End in Round 3 or 4?
Stocker is sure to get injured. ASJ probably will too, and he hasn’t proven himself. This is his contract year, but why take a chance?
Worse case he does well and gets resigned, and we have two good TEs.

Current mock for 2nd rd has us taking Jonathan Bullard, DT, Florida. For some reason they have Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State going #55 to Cinnci. I don’t see him falling that far.

Wanted Rankins but Warming up to the Hargreaves pick. Check this out. Got it from Bleacher Report.
Vernon Hargreaves was targeted for 48 pass attempts last year, according to Pro Football Focus. Only 24 of those passes were completed. Opponents threw 424 passes against the Florida Gators, and Hargreaves was on the field for a high percentage of those attempts, matched up against the best receivers in the SEC. It’s safe to say that opponents were avoiding Hargreaves. When they did challenge him, Hargreaves intercepted four passes.
Also, I watched the higlights that one of you posted vs Alabama. He was clearly avoided in that game. Those completions Alabama burnt Florida on was not on Hargreaves.
If we get Ogbah, Spence, or Dodd. I would be completely satisfied with the first two rounds.

No to Myles Jack and Noah Spence. If we want to draft a LB that will sit out this season because of injury we should wait and take Jaylon Smith in the third or fourth. Hopefully our pick in the second is Dodd.

Lots of mocks out there. Walter Football has us taking Ogbah at 39. I think that pick would please the JBF crowd. I’d be happy with it although I really want Spence.

Ignore my previous Wishlist post. Go with this one.
Let me just say this:
Vernon Hargreaves was not on my wishlist, but he was one of the two best players available and the only one without injury concerns. I would have preferred a RT, but the only ones I liked in round one were taken. A DE would have been nice too. Vernon Hargreaves was the smart pick. The solid pick. He’ll make the team better. No doubt.
So I’m not holding Vernon Hargreaves against Jason Licht. I came into this draft with the attitude of just wanting Licht to make the team better. He did with that pick…and I hope he continues.
This is me giving Jason Licht props. Don’t get used to it.

Same here although I’d be fine with DL round 2 / round 4 if there is a great WR or S in round 3 sitting there.
Honestly I feel great about our position as of this moment. This draft has D-line deep into rounds 2/3 but not so much at CB. If we wanted a corner we are now looking at some shaky options the rest of the way. Not so much on the d-line.
VHIII has always been viewed as a top 10 or at worst top 15 talent in this draft. All these DE/DTs available have never been viewed as such. We are getting good value for what we need.
Man the mock i did on a message board the other day looks great lol. I had us taking Bosa at 9 and Karl Joseph in the 2nd; and they went 2 and 14 in the real draft. Give me a job Light! 😉

Oh and btw Joe Haden; who was like the 6th overall pick and is an amazing corner; is only 1″ taller than VHIII and ran a slower 40 at the combine (4.6s but 4.4s at his pro day). He has 2″ longer arms BUT VHIII’s vertical jump was an entire 4″ higher! Despite 3″ in height/length, Hargreaves would still get higher than Haden in a straight up who can touch the highest point on this wall contest.
I really never cared about the size issues regardless. The guys film shows an explosive burst to the ball and ability to lock down WRs and be physical and the kid can jump high as hell lol.
I always trust football results / film / etc over combine results as that seems to correlate to more success

Well, Casserly just did a top 10 2nd round mock and I just have to laugh. He had us trading back with Miami so they could draft RB Henry. Ogbah was the 1st DE to go, then Dodd then Spence to Baltimore.
I think he’s started drinking just a bit too early….

The order of the selections may have been off a bit…..but overalll with the exception of Cheech Tunsil there were no real surprises in terms of who went in that round.
Bosa at 3 seeemed like a reach…but the top two choices were spot on.
For weeks we were projected to take VHG at 9….ok we get him at 11.
There talk about us picking Apple…NYG grabbed him…bottom line those two CB’s and Jalen went in the first dozen picks as expected.
MIght have been a little turmoil in the precise order but over all it was pretty predictable…even down to JJ taking Elliott.

All this talk about de in first round. The only de in first round after the bucs pick at 11 was at pick 19. “A Clemson DE lol” Glad we didn’t reach when there are so many de’s in round 2. Hopefully the dl coach Hayes uncovered a couple of hidden gems in the next few rounds that the can work with. The Bengals DL isn’t filled with a lot of high draft picks and they are pretty good.

I don’t see how we can get Ogbah or Spence without trading up. There are at least 5 teams in front of us that need pass rush help just as bad as us.

Like most say a DE with next pick maybe even a 3rd. Whom ever it is will get plenty of playing time behind Ayers plus can learn alot from him then the 3rd rndr can be brought up over next two seasons as depth by time Ayers is goone after 2 seasons. I don’t know if I’d want Ogbah since he is known for taking off series so not sure thats a good look for the NFL. Then the fastest receiver with the best hands with the 4th. Kenny Bell was a 5th and has a hard time with NFL passes and isn’t a lock to make the team so we need a receiver with more abilities. Then with the other 4th get a big thick RT with good feet . The 5th 6th & 7th we bundle with Glennon and see if the Jets bite for Wilkerson or 9ers bite to give us their 2nd now.

I think every bucs fan is on the same page with Dodd, Spence, or Ogbah in the second. Ogbah is a conundrum, his tangibles are amazing but he is not a dynamic or instinctive edge rusher.
I would say Dodd or Spence, if DE Carl Nassib is still on the board in rnd 3 I say gamble on him. A 6’6″ DE with 15.5 sacks sounds like a high floor to me.

Shillique Calhoun is another DE and Correa at DE
Correa is very similar to spence in terms of being an undersized quick rusher (244 lbs 6’3) but ran a 4.69 40 and has some very impressive burst.
I really want Noah Spence though. Guy has moves and was made to get to the QB

Noah Spence reminds of two bucs players we already have, Jacquies Smith and Howard Jones. Howard Jones is actually the most athletic of the three, but all are very similar.

It’s not a mock draft. It’s a list of the players I like most, shown at the latest spots I think they can be gotten. It’s a wishlist 🙂

Im hoping for Billings in the 2nd and Boyd in the 3rd. And I know its not likely but with all the questions surrounding ASJ(and not much behind him), how would you feel if the Bucs surprised us by taking Hunter Henry in the 2nd? Best TE in the draft. Not a need pick but would certainly help the offense is all phases.

If Licht is targeting a DE in the 2nd round he needs to trade up to #32 or #33 to get Ogbah. No way Ogbah or Dodd make it to #39. Even Spence may go before then. There could be up to 4 DEs drafted tonight before our pick at 39. Give up picks 39 and 108 plus an extra 6th if we have to, then draft Ogbah.
Or we could stand pat and draft Myles Jack or someone like TJ Greene. Greene would give us the safety help we need. Or take Tyler Boyd or Shepard out of Oklahoma. We have options which are never a bad thing. I like it.
I said it last night and I’m saying it again. My gut feeling is Licht is going to make a move at some point tonight. He has no problem moving up to get his guy. The guy has balls, major F’n balls!

Spence, Ogbah or Dodd and then trade back into the 2nd and get Shepard or Boyd. Pick up Aguayo with the 5th. Gronk or Vitale at fullback with one of the 6s. Essentially 5 starters. Best draft ever.

BTW…I got what everybody wanted last year. Some just didn’t know any better.
Some of us are just a little slow and can’t help themselves. Me included at times.
Most of us (I know I do) have a scenario in their head that they would like to see play out with our team. It’s a never ending scenario. We play GM, because we care that much. So I fault no one for criticizing this pick or that. I always say “give a rookie 3 years before you declare him a bust” In the case of Hargreaves it’s what I’m going to do. Didn’t want to have to say that after they made their pick, but it is what it is.
It’s out of our hands anyways.
I can’t wait for tonight….. after last night.

I think we get ogbah….as a gator fan I watched carlos dunlap dominate when he wanted to…everyone could see his potential and talent but questioned his passion and work ethic…hayes got a hold of him and turned him into a beast….I know hayes will get the best out of which ever de/dt we grab in these next 2 rounds….GO BUCS!!!!

The miles jack situation reminds me of a top rated DE that fell into the second round. He was supposed to have a degenerative knee problem. He has lasted over 5 years without any major knee issues. That DE is worth as much as pile of dog poo, but the point is he is still on the field on sundays even though he health concern made him undraftable to some teams.
If the bucs were starving for a LB, i would be screaming for us to draft him. Medical technology is very advanced, whatever issues he has can be fixed. But with our current roster situation, desperately needing a DE, and not needing a LB, it hard to bang the table for him

I was looking at the draft pick trade value chart just now. Our 3rd and 4th round picks combine for 300 points. The 2nd round values don’t get down to around 300 until very late in round 2. I wouldn’t expect a trade up using only our 4th with our 3rd until around when NE has their back to back picks. I know every team has their own chart, but it should be close.

Third round picks only hit about 20% of the time. Might as well use the free pick from the Bears as ammo to get as sure of a thing as you can get with the 3rd rounder. I hate the trade to move up for a kicker. Especially one that is only 14-22 on kicks over 40 yards. It makes me really upset to see Carl Nassib, Braxton Miller, and Vonn Bell still there. And we take a kicker in the 2nd round. No help for Jameis at all so far either. Making a major mistake there IMO.
I trust Licht, but this move really has me confused. I like the Spence pick. Imagine Spence, Nassib, and Ayers at DE. Would’ve been awesome. Still need a WR and Safety.

But, unless you can kick through the uprights on a kickoff, a la, the Polish Powderkeg, I wouldn’t give up a pick before the 4th-5th.
That said, I still trust Licht. And, maybe with the new rules on kicks and XP’s, maybe Roberto’s accuracy inside the 40 is more valuable than it has been in the past.
Said before, I have no idea which DE was the best, but, glad to see we have a shot with Spence.
