Swag!
April 28th, 2016Joe already brought word that the Bucs were enamored with the confidence if not ego of first round pick Vernon Hargreaves.
Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said they learned last year from America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, that ego can be a good thing.
So late Thursday night, Hargreaves did a teleconference call from NFL draft headquarters in Chicago and was asked about his ego and how that actually sold the Bucs as opposed to turning them off.
Hargreaves said that is his personal swag.
“I have confidence and I am not afraid to show it,” Hargreaves said. “I am very confident in myself and very confident in my abilities. That is how I carry myself. I carry myself to a high standard.”
This can’t be a bad thing. No question Jameis carries the offense if not the team. Kwon Alexander is evolving into the face of the defense. With Brent Grimes already on board, and the addition of cocksure Hargreaves, if nothing else the Bucs won’t be wilting flowers on defense.
That defense needs an identity and an attitude in a bad way.

I want to see how he fares against V. Jackson and M. Evans in practice before concluding if this was a great pick or not.
April 28th, 2016 at 11:49 pm
He’s also an electric punt returner… Could’ve killed two birds with one stone
April 28th, 2016 at 11:50 pm
Now get a de and a ball hawk safety and out D will round out very nicely. Lb will be a need next year to replace our aging but experienced and productive d smith.
Would cream myself for a spence/ogbah and trade up for sterling shepherd. Pipe dream
April 28th, 2016 at 11:50 pm
I see a trade of a CB or he plays nickel
April 28th, 2016 at 11:51 pm
If we get any more CB’s on day 3 let’s get a long corner.
April 28th, 2016 at 11:52 pm
You read my mind on Spence and Shepard. 2 more starters for sure.
April 28th, 2016 at 11:53 pm
Get on board or walk the plank!!! R!
April 28th, 2016 at 11:59 pm
Hopefully Hargreaves is the corner that we trade!!
April 29th, 2016 at 12:00 am
Hes good in short space coverage and thats it
April 29th, 2016 at 12:00 am
Smart pick… Still DE’s w sick talent on the board… Wideouts too
April 29th, 2016 at 12:04 am
The Negative Nancies coming through every thread..lol…yet the entire NFL community had him a top ten..but nooooo…you guys know better…lol…
Eejits and wee jobbies around here…tomorrow we are getting the rest of the pieces..what is the problem?..
GO VH3!!
GO BUCS!!!
April 29th, 2016 at 12:13 am
Spence!!!! I’ll throw up if somebody jumps us for him………
April 29th, 2016 at 12:15 am
Americas Cornerback !!! Pablo thinks this is the best CB we drafterted in the last decade. YES BETTER THAN AQIB TALIB
April 29th, 2016 at 12:16 am
I can’t believe Myles Jack is still available. He would look amazing in a buc’s Uni next to Alexander and David.
April 29th, 2016 at 12:17 am
He is from Tampa and will play for the pride of his home town. Add that with 1st round talent and you have the perfect pick.
April 29th, 2016 at 12:17 am
Remember Apple who went to the Giants was from New Jersey.
April 29th, 2016 at 12:19 am
The more I think about this pick the more I like it… Buckner and Bosa were already off the board and the only other DE’s taken were an undersized Floyd (who’s supposedly better suited for OLB in a 3-4) and the ill fated Clemson DE Shaq Lawson… We still have Noah Spence, Ogbah, Dodd, Kafusi not to mention DT’ssuch as Billings, Sheldon Day, Hassan Ridgeway, Javon Haregreaves (one i like a lot). Point is, someone will be there or if we have to we should be able to trade up pretty cheaply to get our guy. VHIII just happened to represent better value at 11. There was a pretty big run on corners in the first round. Not sure who’s available except maybe Mac Alexander
April 29th, 2016 at 12:23 am
In addition if you are watching ESPN or NFL NETWORK right now is like the Bucs didn’t even have a pick tonight. Zero coverage which might say a lot about what they really think. Another crappy pick by a crappy team is what their actions are showing their opinion is.
April 29th, 2016 at 12:43 am
ndog..it could be worse..the funny memes on Twitter concerning the Browns pick is hilarious..well all Brown memes are hilarious..
But yeah there’s still so many great players on round two..Roddy White just tweeted that he couldn’t believe they are passing on Myles Jack..it takes a lot for him to tweet about anything..but he did tonight!
April 29th, 2016 at 12:57 am
Bringing that swag back to the D’!
April 29th, 2016 at 1:12 am
Hey Joe,
Your girl Miko’s twitter is a disaster right now. How come you aren’t reporting it?
April 29th, 2016 at 1:14 am
ndog
Other than Jameis last year, there hasn’t been any coverage on BSPN or NFL Network on the Bucs for 40 years. Not that I give two sh*ts about it, but I dont think it has anything to do with our pick
April 29th, 2016 at 1:25 am
ndog
correction. Jameis, the SB, and the worst day of my life the ’99 Burt Emanuel catch. I was 10 years old and my first girlfriend broke my heart right when that happened.
April 29th, 2016 at 1:46 am
Disaster? Joe thinks it is gold!!!
Pardon Joe if he was knee-deep in draft coverage.
April 29th, 2016 at 2:08 am
Conklin was the Bucs’ target at #9, but when the Titans jumped in front of them with that trade up they figured they could safely trade back a couple spots and still get their second guy Hargreaves. Robinson knew exactly who the Bucs were likely going to pick since he was Licht’s right-hand man, so they knew they had to get to #8 to get their man no matter what. If you don’t understand that Conklin was the guy I can’t help you.
April 29th, 2016 at 2:10 am
Can’t believe Licht was stupid enough not to trade up with Cleveland to secure their first choice. Robinson is going to get GM of the Year, for sure.
April 29th, 2016 at 2:11 am
Of course you think it’s gold. You’re media…
April 29th, 2016 at 2:27 am
What happens if Hargreaves, Banks and Verner take over and Grimes ends up on the sidelines? What happens when Miko goes ballistic on Licht, the Glazer’s, Koetter, Smith, Lavonte, McCoy and anyone everyone else she feels like blaming? Are you going to defend her then Joe?
I’ve been reading your site for a loooong time. I remember when you fell in love with Brady Quinn and his six pack abs. I remember you begging for Johnny Football to come to Tampa. Don’t pretend you’re not short sighted….
April 29th, 2016 at 2:32 am
Joe is drawn to hype like a moth to the flame, so he doesn’t understand how to avoid supporting people like Quinn, Miko, Johnny Failure, etc, etc. He’s the Jerry Springer of Bucs reporting…all sizzle but hardly any steak.
April 29th, 2016 at 5:17 am
If nothing else, we won’t have a team that throws in the towel on the season after a penalty on the first play of the year
April 29th, 2016 at 6:49 am
Won’t get excited about this guy until the day he shuts down Julio Jones or Kelvin Benjamin. I won’t hold my breath though
April 29th, 2016 at 7:09 am
So not only are we still slow at cornerback, we’re still undersized. Hargreaves is a handchecking machine, so unless he can defend without touching anybody, which I highly doubt, expect to see a lot of flags in the secondary. It would have made much more sense to either trade up to get Jalen Ramsey or trade down further (and get more than just a 4th round pick) and take Shaq Lawson.
April 29th, 2016 at 7:18 am
R is on board, Bucs have many corners. Not trading Hargraves, trading another, maybe Verner
April 29th, 2016 at 7:21 am
So, VH3 is only a slot covering, hand checking, too small corner who can’t cover the big guys? You mean guys like Amari Cooper? Jarvis Landry? Odell Beckham?
Kelvin Benjamin?
Wow!
April 29th, 2016 at 9:29 am
Exactly Spacebuc! VH3 has already done a nice job of covering ^^^^^ guys. Trolls here act like VH3 hasn’t covered big receivers over 3 years in the SEC. The guy is a baller with an attitude – and LOVES the Bucs – and LOVES football, and LOVES to win. You f’n combine numbers loving jokers!
April 29th, 2016 at 9:34 am
It will never be about combine numbers – hight, speed, broad jump, etc. Draft FOOTBALL players, not track stars. Who gives a damn what a kid did at the combine. What did he do over the years in the SEC against the best of the best in college football???? VG3 – I welcome you to our team and city! Glad you are here! Oh – and please take these negative combine stats loving joker’s opinions and shove it down their throats!!
April 29th, 2016 at 9:48 am
@nole…@realist…where you at?…..this was the best pick for the bucs….vhg has the talent and skill set to be elite here in tampa…practicing with grimes and going up against vjax and evans will improve his game…
remember the nfl is a business…selecting vhg is a 2 for 1 just like jameis last year…we got the best cb imo a gator and hometown kid…all of that equals fans in the seats…we saw that with the rams, giants, san fran(big semolina fan base)…GO BUCS!!!!
