Koetter Goes Raheem

“I may be gone but my legacy at One Buc lives.”

The legacy of Raheem Morris is interesting.

Currently, he is the last Bucs head coach to not only guide the team to a winning record, but that same 2010 club had double-digit wins and was screwed out of a playoff berth by a terrible call taking a touchdown off the board in a three-point loss to Detroit.

Rah’s coaching job that year looks more and more remarkable as years go by. Joe isn’t sure Rah had any lasting impact at all — other than a coach shouldn’t party with players at local hotspots with loud thumping, grinding music and scantily clad nubile hotties.

There is one thing that lives on thanks to Rah. That is the label he gave to offseason practices in shorts and jerseys and no pads: Underwear football.

After practice today at One Buc Palace, new Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter channeled one of his predecessors, that being Rah, when discussing how Mike Evans was on floppy hat patrol but wearing a cap instead.

“There is no use taking risks with guys if they are a little bit sore,” Koetter said of Evans’ pacing the sidelines today. “Underwear football is a different transition on their bodies [from conditioning drills]. No use jeopardizing these guys long-term.”

Precisely. It is April. The goal is to be in shape in September, not blowing out hammies and knees and quads in April.

Have to think long-term with underwear football.

And Joe thanks Raheem for his influence on football vernacular.

Always something wrong with Evans. Take Treadwell @9. He ran the same 40 time as Jerry Rice. That turned out ok.

I always liked Rah. Hopefully he’ll get another shot one day. And hopefully he learned he can’t truly be buds with his players.

Agree with Dewey even if Evans is ok

    Careful Joe,

You know no one here likes to admit that Raheem did something right.

Besides, remember that season, the Bucs had the “easiest schedule in the league”, cause, you know, they decide who the want to play, when they want to play them.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Raheem was and is a very capable coach. He was (at the time) a TERRIBLE head coach.

I hope he gets a second chance when he’s ready for it

I can not say that he was a good or bad coach! With Dominik in charge no coach has a chance!!!!

The worst part of that bad call was it allowed the Cheeseheads into the playoffs and they won the super bowl. Makes me sick.

No way Rah coined the phrase under wear football. It was coined way before he was our head coach. Too much credit for nothing .

That call sucked! But let’s be honest, we weren’t going anywhere in the playoffs that year. Our team was ravaged with injuries at that point.
